Wanted to express myself freely and so here I am. Things I enjoy: do you have all day, because that would take a while. Don’t expect rhyme or reason to what I post. It’ll just be the thoughts I have on things I love when I have them. These thoughts mostly consist of Prodigal Son at the moment.

Saw The Odyssey today. It was good, but it was no Epic.

After watching the live action One Piece and loving it, I wanted to try watching the anime even though 1000+ episodes are daunting to take on. I have now surpassed what I have seen in OPLA. Everything from here on out is an unknown and I am so looking forward to continuing this journey. I'm not rushing, but I am making progress.

this might be a hot take or unpopular opinion based on btvs meta i've read before but i actually kinda agree with buffy's self-loathing for fucking and having feelings for spike in s6. not in the sense of "she's right she should hate herself" but more along the lines of "i would feel that too" because you guysss. regardless of the subtext and the themes and symbolism of spike being her shadow and her arc being about integrating it etc etc. and spike representing that perfectly without his soul.. in-universe as in from buffy summers the person's perspective, spike is not just the vague idea of a soulless vampire that's just risen from the grave and she should want to kill him because that's just what she does.. she actually KNOWS the things he's done throughout the centuries. which is torture, rape, murder, massacres, etc. the whole scooby gang knows. which is why it also doesn't bother me so much when xander shits on spike for being a monster or whatever or treats him like crap. because he's right. no matter how much i love spike or how much i love and appreciate his arc and how special he is as a soulless vampire, it is canonically established that he has massacred and raped innocent people before, including children. even spike himself once he has his soul talks about how he would torture young girls to provoke buffy into killing him. souled spike would not treat soulless spike very nicely either. so tbh i would feel kinda disgusted with myself if i had feelings for someone like that, and i would feel kinda disgusted with a friend of mine if they were having feelings for someone like that, im gonna be honest here. i still ADORE spike as a character but in universe? i don't mind him getting slapped around and insulted every once in a while. it actually surprises me when fans get furious with the other characters when they treat him badly. maybe it's because i always have it on my mind the things he's probably done in the past and they don't but i think it's perfectly normal and natural of the scooby gang to want to shit on him as much as they can. i DON'T feel this way once spike regains his soul though and they continue treating him like this, sometimes even worse. but i don't mind it when he's soulless idk

also it drives me insane when fans in general use the seeing red scene to say he's irredeemable. i get it if that scene was too much psychologically for some people but aside from that, again it's canonically established that he's done this before. i don't understand why it's okay when you know it happened just because you didn't see it, but when you do see it on your screen all of a sudden it's not okay? are the people that suffered the sexual assault at the hands of spike and angelus off-screen less worthy of rage? i don't get that

Now that it's official the cosmere is being produced by Apple TV, I want to see how many different mediums they can be adapted as. I know it is unlikely for Stormlight and Mistborn to be animated (though I would prefer that), but it could be so cool for some of the standalone novels to be adapted into different mediums. Like Yumi and the Nightmare Painter could be stop motion, Elantris could be claymation, and Tress of the Emerald Sea could be animated. Then Hoid as the character who regularly breaks the fourth wall, could somehow comment on the different styles of the worlds. I think it would be a really unique way to adapt all these novels in interesting ways and allow for different types of creatives to be involved.

Unfortunately, we're likely going to see Elantrians from the first book of Elantris (and the subsequent two, when they come out) in other Cosmere books, so it'll probably need to be the same medium as the others. I retain hope, not much but a little, that it'll all be animated

I don't think that should matter, actually. My point is the world itself is in a specific style and characters fit the style of the world (maybe with some unique qualities to distinguish that they don't belong). Elantrians could be clamation in their own movie, but if they world hop to Roshar, then they are in live action on that world, because that's what the world looks like.

There are movies where animated characters are put into live-action environments (ex. Who Framed Roger Rabbit), so it's not out of the range of possibility. I don't really think that would fit the vibe of the cosmere, but I think characters adapting to the medium of the world they are currently on would be so cool.

One of the most amusing moments of Teen Wolf to me is season 1 episode 1, where Stiles complains that Scott is the reason they are not popular because he's "bringing him down to his nerd depths and is nerd by association", and then proceeds to be the biggest nerd of the show!

The Crowded Room. What a beautiful and heart-wrenching story! To think a haircut on Tom Holland that so many people made fun of, would be due to this amazingly resilient and empathic character!

my favorite part of teen wolf is that every season Scott meets someone who tries to kill him and he thinks it over and goes "you know what? I can fix him" and he has like a 96% success rate. statistically he WILL fix him. Derek Hale? Chris Argent? Theo Raeken? Deucalion? Stiles Stilinski his own best friend whose visage is being worn by a monster that killed the love of his life? fixed. and he does it through the power of friendship every time. all of the guys he's fixed already say "come on, Scott, you can't fix everyone, not everyone is capable of redemption, you gotta let some people go." and Scott is like "no. I will simply love my enemy." and when he finally meets someone who refuses his every offer of love and slaps it out of his hands the way that he defeats him is by offering it to him again. no one is doing it like him.

This is beautifully put. Is Scott perfect? Far from it. He makes plenty of mistakes, but I think a lot of his biggest critiques are actually a fault of how Jeff idealized him and didn’t let him acknowledge and grow from his mistakes rather than it actually being true to his character.

I have come to the realization over time that Buffy is my favourite character in her show, and anytime anyone makes her feel like everything is her fault, I want to enter into that moment and give them the biggest tongue lashing of their lives!

I don't know if this has been done before or not and I am not a writer, but what if Rue survived the Hunger Games? What if Peeta eventually joined Katniss and Rue? I don't know if the 2 victors option would be given in this scenario, but if it did, what if Thresh joined them as well? What if they made it to them as the final 4 and all of a sudden they're faced with 1 half of them dying? If that happened, I don't think Katniss would fight them and I don't think Peeta would either. I think Katniss would sacrifice herself together with Peeta so Rue would live. Believing that Gale would be able to care for Prim, she would rather die than end Rue's life. What would the fallout of that be? Would there be any way for the capitol to spin it so that an immediate rebellion did not start? Would Thresh be able to survive in this scenario too and be Rue's protector? I don't see how the rebellion would work without Katniss and Peeta, but the idea of Rue surviving knowing that it was through such a sacrifice intrigues me.

Listen. I know the live action is not going to be the same as the animation. I know they're going to take things out and put things in. I know the costumes as far as I've been able to see look a bit too clean, and the scar doesn't have the squint it should. The animals don't quite translate from animation as well as one would hope. I know the live action will not capture the amazing balance of goofy and emotional depth that the animation just did so beautifully. But, I am so looking forward to this!

I don't want a carbon copy of the animation because it wouldn't work. I want them to explore the characters in a way the animation wasn't able to do because the target audience was kids. My hope is that they maintain the overall story while making it their own. The Percy Jackson series has been doing this very well in my opinion. They've changed so many things from the book, but the heart of what Percy Jackson is is still present. It won't be the same, but I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing.

A bit of both in my mind. The show pigeon-holed Scott into being this morally good person and therefore never really let Scott grow or recognize when he made crappy or selfish choices. What started out as him being just a 16 (who are often self-centered), turned into him having to uphold an unrealistic level of morality, which is often what he is criticized for because it's hypocritical. For some reason the show decided that to acknowledge Scott's flaws and give him the chance to grow, would make the claim that he is a ideal 'good guy' false, instead of making him human. Scott's character isn't bad, he's just human (yes, he's a werewolf, but he's human too).

There's a reason people tend to be drawn to flawed characters. They're complex and intriguing. They're messy and there's a level of relatability to them, which is a big draw. Scott never really got the chance to be this character. He could've had some serious growth in season 5 after Theo's betrayal, but it was moved past so quickly and he never received any real consequences to learn from.

I will never be anti-Scott despite his flaws because I see where he could've gone if the show had just let him.
