Hiya Tumblr crowd!!💐

I'm an almost obessive crafter from scandinavia, very fond of skirts and bright but earthy colours.

I sewed my first ever piece of clothing for my 7th birthday (sitting on my mom's lap at the sewing machine, so she could do the gas pedal and I held the fabric in place), and somehow I never stopped after that.

Since then I have also studied 4 years of sewing & designing & weaving & knitting & dyeing & pattern drafting. In schools with amazing teachers. Like - a tailor who has worked for the royal family. (And baked us foccacia for tea-time.) A basically master crafts-weaver and seamstress. Former theater costumers. One of the nationally most renowned sheepskin-crafters with literally over 50 years experience. So, I lucked out there. Some of it was at uni, but also in-between levels of study.... Soooo I have no degree in anything.... Yet?

A few years ago I realised that I've made at least half of my wardrobe by now, and what I have made are often my favourite things to wear - so this is meant to be my place and reason to document them a bit better!

I also remember crazy much about some pieces, because my brain seems hardwired to store memories based on the textiles that were present 😅

So, I hope this might bring someone else joy too, or inspiration! And please please feel free to send me your own handmade outfits or garments, so we can document them together 💖

Two of my (at the moment) all time favourite garments, and a knitted tee I wish I got more wear out of

Cardigan, my lovely colourwork cardigan, knitted by me for me.

The pattern is Snedronningen sweater by Isabella Kraemer, that I hacked to be open att the front + buttonband stitches. The yarn is Lettlopi, colours

Knitted tee, also by me for me.

This pattern is the Fairytale Tee by Knitting for Breakfast. Yarn is a handdyed silk & wool mix from an indie dyer in the us(?) I think - and I loooooove the shifting colours. I was gifted this yarn from my ex's mum when she cleared out her stash, which was so lovely of her to do (because the money! She gave so much expensive yarn then! And not well off at the time either)

My dead simple favourite sheath dress, by me for me

A 1.5 m ish length of knit-in-the-round ribbing, intended for sweatshirt hems and such, just given neck- and arm-holes + a hem. I have a few, and I love their simplicity so much.

The entire fit of this type of dress comes down to the circumferance of the ribbing compared to the widest part of your body. This one has negativ ease of maybe 10 ish cm compared to my bum, so it fits snug.

Wore it out with a vintage bright pink bag, in faux leather, from the 80's or early 90's. My mum got it as a teenager, and I took it from her closet - very unused, it's not at all her kind of colour - as a teen myself.

I also want to point put that my socks have chocolate balls on them!! Kinda looks like just big dots, but they are sweet stuff themed (bc I work at a cafe, so mum though I needed on theme socks. I agree)

My version of the Loupy Cardi, i promise i’m really chill about it (i’m really not i cant stop talking about it). I was so hyperfixated on it that i knitted it in exactly 9 days……. my wrists hurt….

This is a test knit! I’m not sure when the pattern will be released yet, but I am so obsessed with it!

Went to a big family birthday celebration today, with a rainy weather forecast. The store-bought wool sweater ended up being the main look for almost all of today - but searing sunshine when playing hide-and-seek with my cousins in the garden did call for taking it off and being more colourful.

Viscose buttoned skirt, made my me with fabric I was gifted from a uni friend in London. And I believe the buttons were a 'graduation' gift from an earlier tailoring teacher. Incredibly happy with how they blend into this fabric despite not being the same as any of the pattern colours. And the skirt is lovely and light, perfect for summer

Spaghetti strap tank top, made by me. I re-learned how to make twin needles work in my sewing machine when making this one. Not my favourite tank to wear, but I love the colour.

Leather flower hair clip, made by a friend and gifted to me. The fuzzy suede side is outward, and the petal edges are curled by carefully burning the leather.

Pretty sure she used salvaged leather scraps to make this, and I know she made a few more to sell so it feels special to have gotten it as a gift. It is rare that I have my hair long enough to use this one, so I really try to bring it out whenever I've let it grow a bit.

A lil summer-but-chilly outfit 🌷

Homemade dress, by me!

It's made in a fine rib knit jersey, from an independent fabric store & brand that my aunt used to work for. The material is organic cotton, and one of my all time favourite fabrics to wear (I have made many more garments in it)

Knitted Cardigan, also made by me!

The pattern is Cannele Cardigan by Soumine - aka knits.pour.moi on Instagram - in a smaller gauge so I knitted the instructions 2 sizes up. Yarn is TeeTee Elgant, a wool & silk mix, held double to equal a fingering weight. It lost some bounce and floty-ness after washing, which is a pity, but it's still a lovely cardigan to wear - and quite versatile through the year!

Hand knit sweater, by me

Made in Luna by Permin, recycled wool, held together with Brushed Alpacka Silk from DROPS. Also made a self drafted pattern based on another hand knit sweater that's presumably from the 80's. I do wear the og one lots, but it's black so I wanted a colourful one too.

Home sewn sweatpants/pyjama pants, by me 🍊

I was gifted a rather large remnant of this orange-patterned organic cotton jersey and managed to eek out these pants from it. I love them because they are fun and bright, and because they are wicked comfy.

Hand knit wool socks, by my (maternal) grandma

These are heel-less spiral socks! I've seen the design called army socks too, or of that effect, because during WW1 & WW2 it was advertised as a great pattern to knit for soldiers. Since you can rotate them any-which-way on the foot there isn't a fixed heel that wears out quick, so the sock lasts longer. But my grandma just likes making them so she doesn't have to faff with knitting the heels 💛

Literally haven't taken it off since I finished it. I am so unbelievably pleased!!!! It turned out like a dream 🍓✨ details below:

Pattern: frost lines by andrea mowry

Yarn: mc: Brooklyn tweed (rip) loft // cc: spincycle dyed in the wool, strawbaby colorway

I used US5s and knit a size 5 due to gauge differences, since these yarns are technically fingering weight. It is a very light wearing sweater, weighs absolutely nothing on my shoulders.

I wanted to show off the yarn - and I was afraid of running out of the mc tan bc I can't get more of it - so I did the cuffs in the spincycle, as well as added a very cute behind the neck detail i am in LOVE with.

Otherwise, the only mod is I knit the buttonband thinner, and shifted the buttons to be between stripes rather than at stripes. Thought it looked better.

Overall, so very happy with it. It feels absurdly professional and so put together. Mowry's raglan chart was really fun to use and I kinda want another one XD

I finished knitting the dress!!

And this is the first big project I've completed. Now, looking back, I still consider it boring as hell, all that endless stockinette. But the pride! To have something big to show off! To prove to myself that yes, I CAN make myself a sweater, that was priceless.

Of course, it's been a year or two since then, this cardigan never had all the ends woven in and it still hasn't been blocked, but I guess such is the life of a knitter - I'm only interested in knitting and anything beyond that is a chore to be avoided lol

I knit this kerchief! Pattern by tincanknits. It was very fiddly and took me forever but I like how it turned out.

My outfit yesterday!

🧶Handknit scarf from fluffy effect yarn. Probably about 10 years old - it's just stockinette on big needles.

🪡 Homesewn bodycon dress in like a hot-chocolate shade of brown. Love it. It's the simplest design ever and I wear it all the time. Bought a length of circular-knit ribbing that I gave shoulders & hemmed - so literally a tube of fabric.

🧶 Purple knitted sweater I made in 2022, and haven't really worn until this year. Suuuper thick and warm.

I used Lettlopi colour 1414 held toghether with Rauma Finull colour 0464, and I think they become like Aran weight? Thick, anyways.

The pattern is Aviaya Sweater by Knitting for Olive - but heavily modified for the thickness. The pattern calls for fingering weight I believe 😅 so I sized down in the instructions and re-calculated quite a bit (gauge swatching is the best friend to yarn maths 💜)

And I will say, the pattern does drape better in thinner yarn. My version does get a bit bulky around the shoulders & armholes.

Worn out with a thrifted coat, thrifted boots, and double layers of wool tights (because we are in the still-cold part of spring, and I am even more cold than most people here)
