Bigmouth strikes again
TLT does kill your gays but like. In a sexy way. They’re haunting the narrative you can’t stop seeing them in the corner of your eye you can’t live without them they’re integrated into your soul but in such a way that they’re gone forever. Where do they end where do you begin. It doesn’t matter because you’re all dying anyway

was in a painting mood
its probably a normal sign for the economy that all of my adulthood fantasies are like "imagine having your own kitchen living room and bathroom to decorate" "what if i could get on a train" "maybe one day i could purchase a sturdy pair of shoes" "i should save and invest in a single bicycle"
Rimona and I tried to get our friend to read Gideon the Ninth so she could play with us and she read it and very apologetically was like "I'm so sorry, I didn't enjoy it, it was hard to follow."
And I do not know how to be like that's fine, it's not really about that. I didn't enjoy it on first read either and also had to be dragged through it, and love was the only obligation strong enough to force me to do it which, you know, thematic!
Please think about this like you think about reading Torah. The experience of reading the text for the first time is like, barely part of it.
Please think about this like you think about reading The Waste Land. When you have read it fifteen times in three annotated editions that whole part about the living room will still have no meaning and it is fine.
Please think about this like you think about this the way you think about learning a language. We are not hoping you will say "the ball is red" but we are hoping you will say something.
I hope you will like it because the people who like it read it faster but the thing I want you to like is less it and more being conversant in it.
Best sex position is guy who’s not there but is fundamental to everything

i had a delayed reaction to gtn
WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE THREW HERSELF OF A FENCE? "DON'T. DON'T YOU DARE LOOK AT ME."!?!? "THE CRUELLEST THING ANYONE HAS EVER DONE TO YOU"??? WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE WAS SO FULL OF LIFE AND WANTED TO BE FREE BUT IN THE END JUST KILLED HERSELF AND LET HER SOUL BE ENSLAVED FOREVER. WHAT DO YOU MEAN HARROW IS ALL ALONE NOW. WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY ARE LITERALLY MERGED INTO ONE BUT AT THE SAME TIME THEY ARE SO FAR APART, THE FARTHEST THEY CAN BE?!?!?
"ooh i wonder what happens in the locked tomb" i say before i read the locked tomb
"ooh i wonder what happens in the locked tomb" i say after having read the locked tomb
thinking about ianthe and harrow sacreligiously indulging each other by using last names, sinning and scrambling for scraps of the pre-canonized selves neither of them thought they would miss. the selves that were tied down by something as ephemeral and ridiculous as filial piety and blood. it’s over and done and we can’t go back and don’t tell god but please just say my name out loud
I remember the time you caught me telling her, I love you, and I can’t even remember what you said, but I remember that I had you on your back—I put you straight on the fucking ground. I was always so much bigger and so much stronger. I got on top of you and choked you till your eyes bugged out. I told you that my mother had probably loved me a lot more than yours loved you. You clawed my face so bad that my blood ran down your hands; my face was under your fucking fingernails. When I let you go you couldn’t even stand, you just crawled away and threw up. Were you ten, Harrow? Was I eleven? Was that the day you decided you wanted to die?
You remember how the fuck-off great-aunts always used to say, Suffer and learn?
If they were right, Nonagesimus, how much more can we take until you and me achieve omniscience?
--Harrow the Ninth, chapter 51, by Tamsyn Muir
I just want my goths to be happy man
Reading Gideon the Ninth and I’m not convinced these ‘lesbian necromancers in space’ are ever going to make out, say they love each other or actually date. I’m getting the sense they’re going to spend all four of these books being utterly deranged in a hundred different ways that have never been done before in an extremely disturbing and lesbian fashion. This is not a criticism, I am very much on board for more of this, btw.
Liquor? Um yeah bud if she’ll let me
Gideon the Ninth ass post.
my girlfriend and i as harrow and gideon at ren fair. my girlfriend (harrow) made the bone corset and my sword 💪
i think one of the many things that makes gideon the ninth really hit on reread is that when i first read it i had only really heard of its reputation as Space Lesbians so i read gideon’s increasing protectiveness of and obedience to harrow, culminating in her final sacrifice, as the straightforward beats of an enemies to lovers bodyguard romance type of thing. but going back with the context of what lyctorhood means, what cavalierhood means, what the empire of the nine houses overall means, makes it much more horrifying that gideon is learning to fall in line as the perfect tool and sacrificial meal, to stop fighting to run away from her situation like she has been her whole life and instead lay her neck on the chopping block. and it is still the romance developing between them! it’s still them learning to trust each other and all the other stuff it is at first glance! because the personal relationships of the characters, their loves and attachments and vulnerabilities, can’t be separated from the horrific power structures they live in! + gideon’s last words in the book are “for the ninth” and it’s an epic one-liner but it’s horrifically sad that she ends by swearing loyalty to the place that abused her constantly from the moment she was born. she’s been fully molded into a tool in the system like the emperor wants. it’s fucked! it’s really good!
