The sound of an engine outside your flat startled you from your sleep, sighing deeply as it faded into the distance. Tentatively, you made your way into your kitchen, making as little noise as you could due to the time. Waiting for the kettle to boil, you felt the familiar arms of your boyfriend around you. 

“You left me alone,” he complained, a slight gruffness in his voice making you chuckle lightly.  

“I have barely been gone 5 minutes Jisung.” as you poured the now boiled water, you felt your hair move gently as he huffed. Turning in his embrace, careful with the drink still in your hand, you smiled at each other, albeit his rather sleepy. Jisung leaned down to place a soft kiss on your cheek, something that happened every morning but still left you with butterflies. 

“Can we go back to bed now?” not even waiting for your response as he was already leading you back, all you could do was laugh as he pulled you under the covers, where you both fell asleep in each other’s embrace.

Hwanwoong rested his head against your door, his whole body feeling heavy, numb. He never wanted to fight with you, but fights where always bound to happen- they are normal when two people care so much for each other. 

He let you walk away, too stubborn to go after you; that was 5 days ago. Who knew how long he had been stood there trying to find the courage to knock, to him it was hours, but in reality it was minutes.

“Hwanwoong?” A small voice came from behind him. He was not expecting you to be stood there, evident from the speed he turned around at, the shock on his face. “I’m sorry,” you uttered before he had even had a chanced to find the words. He didn’t even care about the fight anymore, pulling him into you, just to have you near. 

Realizing the time, he pulls away, “what are you doing out at this time?” Speaking as if nothing had changed, like radio silence didn’t follow the pair of you for the majority of the week. Laughter bubbled through the air, the pair of you are going to be okay.

Laughing uncontrollably at Mingi across from you, the bewildered look on his face and the blush creeping up his neck to his cheeks could be caused by one of two things. First, the fact he managed to miss his mouth and spill his drink down himself. Or secondly, the fact you liked him back and he has gone and made a fool of himself. 

Pushing his round glasses up his nose, he loosens and laughs along with you. Calming yourself down, you leaned over with napkins and started to dry his shirt; subtly, Mingi slipped his hand into your free hand, squeezing gently and whispering a faint thank you. You squeezed his hand back, leaning up to place a faint kiss on the corner of his mouth.

“You are something else, Nakamota,” scowling, you turned your nose up at the cigarette the man before you lit, inching away from him. 

Badboy!Yuta only stared at you, you were only tutoring each other in your weakest subjects but the guilt creeping under his skin said otherwise. He always just described your agreement as ‘only’ because that was all he needed it to be, he didn’t want to pass but the quicker he did the quicker he left. It was when he noticed how excited he was to see you that he knew this only was something. Having never noticed you before, he suddenly started seeing you everywhere; now he was actively looking for any excuse to ‘accidentally’ see you. He hated how cliche this whole scenario is, being a walking cliche himself with his dark clothes and nicotine addiction, the look on your face made him shrink. 

Nothing else was said after you, shaking your head, you started walking to your car and leaving the smoke behind you. What you missed, Yuta never took a single drag from it. You didn’t see him put out the cigarette, you didn’t see him place his brand new box in the bin. You didn’t see him.

Running his fingers through his hair, letting himself gaze at the street opposite the little shop and the summer sunset illuminated Hwiyoung’s profile. Sitting across him as you did now, you truly got to admire the man before you, how much he had changed through the years but how much stayed the same. Focusing his attention back to you, something about the look in his eyes let you know he had caught you staring, but he didn’t mind- for once you didn’t shy away. The comfortable silence enclosed both of you like a familiar hug as you both stared at each other with small, warm smiles. No words needed to be exchanged, you both just knew.
