thinking bout 2019 and how i took her for granted
insane long shot but do i have any followers who speak mongolian? (i think it's mongolian)
i think this is one of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard and i would really like to know what the words mean
thats very funny because that's actually also why i have it. i do of course also just like the music and listen to it recreationally, but something about Egschiglen's music is just so so dragon rider-y to me
I tend to like this kind of music so tapped it on my phone
Didn’t realise phone was connected to speaker in kitchen
Door to kitchen was shut
Didn’t realise why music didn’t appear to be playing, so turned it up quite loud.
Was called away to do 18 different things at once for children and slipped phone into pocket
Husband, entering kitchen while thinking about something else, walked into a passage around 1:14 and was blasted, without consent or context, with whatever the music is doing at 1:14
To his credit, he rallied quickly
“Hi. Why is there a Mongolian throat singer in the kitchen?”
I was assisting a child in getting a toddler into a very tight handmade Dalmatian costume, made by a neighbour’s grandmother in a rather unconventional way, while providing sympathy to a third child with a complex emotional problem, and received this question with blank bewilderment, having forgotten what I had been on tumblr for and having not actually heard the music
Only thing I could think of was “and you just LEFT him there?!”
Sorry OP I have no idea what the lyrics mean. Hopefully someone can help you
every AI work tool out there is like "did you know you're wasting up to 90% of your time on pointless busywork that could be automated away? and i look inside and the "busywork" is like. learning how something important works or double checking the reading on the safety valve. AI companies love to say "why would you waste time learning that in the moment when, instead, you could always ask me about it later?" and it's like. the point isn't to "have access to that information", the point is to know it. The AI can only tell me how to fix that air compressor if i can tell it what the problem is, and even then its instructions might not warn me of potential hidden dangers or might not see that i've got my screwdriver on the wrong screw or might not even be telling me the truth. I need to know how the pump works. I need to know which lines lead where. I need to understand the system I am working with. If something goes wrong I need to know how to fix it, because by the time something tells me how to fix it, it might be too late.
someone please add the abigail sims poem chatgpt fucks my wife i am too high to deal with the results that duckduckgo search is giving me to sift through right now.

This tweet means a lot to me.
It’s probably a really cool and good sign that this post I made in 2014 is going around again, right?
I know it's fun in fics but I truly don't think Shane/Ilya would be that open about their sex lives in the Centaurs group chat, they'd really want to keep it professional, but I do think it would take the Cens like half a season to notice that they often both went radio silent in the chat at the same time or disappear from a party at the same time. So the joke is that they're leaving to have sex. They're not texting back because they're having sex. But it's really not serious, they're probably just having lunch without their phones or watching Netflix in the hotel room. Like yeah it's funny to wiggle their eyebrows suggestively when Shane/Ilya come back from the bathroom together but obviously they weren't hooking up in the bathroom, that would be unhinged.
Except, you know, they definitely fucking are.
My resolution last year was to do one thing before bed that would make my morning feel easier, and that’s become a daily habit that I’m carrying into this new year.
Some nights even filling up the kettle and setting an empty mug out for my morning tea felt hard. But I was always thankful for it in the morning.
Other nights, one thing would lead to another, and I’d wake up in a clean house with everything ready to go.
And, on a rare few nights, the one thing that I could do to make my morning easier was going straight to bed and allowing myself to rest.
What stayed the same each day is that I would take a moment to think of what I could do for my future self and do it, even after a hard day. And I would wake up knowing that I had done my best and any effort—no matter how small—was a kindness to myself.
I’ve been doing a lot of “a treat for future me” moments lately.
the thing about "people have talked about it you're just 21" is that it's not really "young people are stupid" it's more "if you come into an academic discussion you should know what people have said on the matter lest you talk out your ass"
watching stuff with kids in it and talking to adults about kids is so fucking weird as someone who works with kids. it is extremely transparent that very few people ever interact with kids, so they just fully forget what they're like and lump them into a broad category of essentially toddlers with different levels of speech capability.
I genuinely believe the stringent age-based separation most of us are experiencing is one of the single most destructive forces in our society. you need to interact with people of all ages regularly or you start to get all "think of the children" and "parent's rights" and fucking "11 year olds can't comprehend basic ratios".
They are people. they have complex thoughts and emotions and knowledge. they are aware of the political goings on in the world, and they think deeply and talk frequently about the issues that impact you. they share space with you in your communities, locally and online, whether you're aware of them or think of them as part of your communities or not.
you need to talk to them regularly so you can remember that they are people, the ways in which they are people, the kind of people they are, the needs they have, and how to advocate for them in a society that increasingly flattens them to varying sizes of toddler.
otherwise you get weird and start talking like a republican.
New headcanon that even though Shane is a millionaire, his parents still technically pay his phone bill because it's cheaper on the family plan and it's a pain to change phone plans and deal with phone companies and the plan they're on has good coverage in Canada and the US without roaming charges so it's just more convenient to stay on his parents' plan.
They insist he doesn't need to pay them back, it's only like $40/month, and it's only a drop in the bucket compared to the money Shane's spent on them so Shane lets it go. When Ilya gets settled in Canada, the Hollanders find out he's paying like $200/month for some fuck-ass phone plan he picked out at 18, so he gets added to the Hollander family phone plan too.
hate it when people call ada lovelace the first female programmer, when in reality she was the first programmer ever. she wrote programs for a machine before it was ever constructed

I had to draw this beautiful lady
*goes to egg your house but I find out you're vegan so I ¼ cup of unsweetened applesauce your house instead*
Okay I hear you, but that's not going to work. As always, when you're thinking of vegan egg substitutes, it's important to think about the purpose of the egg in your recipe.
Eggs are used in this recipe because they smell gross and don't come off easily (due to their tendency to harden/cook in the sun). This is not a situation for applesauce, which will come off in a light rain.
While unconventional, the substitute you're looking for here is sourdough starter. It's goopy, it'll smell atrocious in the hot sun, and it'll harden onto the walls like cement. If you try to get it off with water, you'll end up with a sticky dough.
Just make sure to respectfully ask your target if they have a gluten allergy before doing this - wouldn't want to trade one evil for another.
This has beautiful synergy with "let me get this bitch's pronouns before I curse them out" in the game of hate
ive never been able to take "climb him like a tree" as a sexual innuendo seriously because i picture climbing a tree in my mind and then i picture a tall man in my mind and when i put those two things together im not seeing anything sexual. im seeing like. circus tricks.
I won't ever get over the removal of headphone jacks, or micro sd slots, or cd drives. I won't. Fuck everyone and everything
So one afternoon at the cottage, Ilya has been in and out of the lake all day, excited like a kid, splashing around and clowning and fascinated by the wildlife and showing off for Shane. And after they finally head back inside and shower off the lake smell, Shane settles on the couch with a book and Ilya flops down with him, stretched out with his head in Shane's lap and whining until Shane frees a hand to sink into his hair. And it's been such a nice full day and it's all warm dozy sunshine and the lovely earthy nature smell that's everywhere around the cottage and Ilya has his face tucked into Shane's stomach where he can breathe him in, the familiar scent of his detergent and body wash, and Shane's big warm hand is in his hair and Ilya's pleasantly tired and drowsy and so comfortable that he just... drifts off, the kind of wonderfully indulgent nap that he never really gets during the season and finds hard to justify when he's in Russia for the summer.
But this year he's not in Russia, and he slips into this warm syrupy slumber while Shane pets through his hair (incidentally making a disastrous mess of his curls) and reads his book. When Ilya eventually rouses, with a happy grumble of contentment, nuzzling closer into Shane's stomach, he can feels Shane laughing gently at him almost before he hears it.
"Did you sleep well?" Shane asks, and that sounds warm and syrupy too, and Ilya rolls over so he can smile at Shane and revel in the smile he gets in return.
And then Shane says, "Are you hungry? It's almost dinnertime," and Ilya realises he's been lying here, napping and pinning Shane to the couch and wasting both of their time, for hours, and he jackknifes upright so suddenly that Shane startles back.
"Fuck!" Ilya spits out. "I was--fuck, has been so long. Why didn't you wake me up?" already guilty because Shane had wanted to make some pasta thing that he was weirdly excited about and they'd talked about maybe playing more Chel but now the whole day's been napped away and--Ilya sneaks a look---Shane's book is lying closed on the couch, bookmark set neatly aside, so Shane had finished his book and not even been able to get up to go do something else.
And he's just smiling at Ilya, completely unconcerned that Ilya's been idle and asleep and... and... lazy, all afternoon, just glad Ilya had a good nap.
Shane's frowning in mild confusion at him. "Why?" he says, genuinely not seeing the problem. "You were napping, it was nice. I mean, if I'd needed to pee or something I'd have got up but I was fine." He reaches out and smoothes some of Ilya's hair down. "Oh, the pasta. We can do that tomorrow, we have all that salad from lunch and rolls and there's peaches if we want dessert."
Ilya must have responded somehow because Shane beams at him and says, "Cool, I'll go set the table if you want to go wash your face." He smirks and pokes at Ilya's cheek. "Got a little drool there." And then he smacks a kiss on Ilya's head, gets up, and trots over to the kitchen while Ilya just sits there reeling.
Anyway it's really important to me that Shane dismantles all of Ilya's awful self-talk about laziness.
Honestly, with all the tradwife cooking trash circulating, it only makes me love B Dylan Hollis more for baking vintage recipes while being openly gay, making sexual jokes, and screaming at the ingredients. He's the antithesis of every soft-spoken cishet woman cooking for her husband and children. You don't have to be an idyllic cottagecore housewife to cook.
The swearing is essential. That's what "made with love" or "the secret ingredient is love" means. It means, "I love you so much that you're worth this fucking bullshit."
