Yep. Though I think there is also some intentional sabotage.
2 minutes of kitten craziness. The kittens are wearing their crazypants!
God made them to be fearsome predators!
lol I went to grab a drink and walked in just as the world cup final entered the final five minutes of extra time and spent that five minutes trying to explain to a very confused barista who knew absolutely nothing about soccer what extra time was, which was challenging as I know almost nothing about soccer other than that it's muddy and I don't like it when people kick the ball at my head.
one thing I couldn't figure out is why the clock showed 120+5 instead of 90+5, did they include the half time show in the game time??
The half-time show also brought cameos from Brazil legends Ronaldo and Ronaldinho, Ted Lasso actor Jason Sudeikis, as well as Muppets stars Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy. Appearing on the BBC, former England captain Wayne Rooney said the half-time show was “crap”.
The World Cup final also kicked off six minutes late, following performance by Robbie Williams, the singing of the national anthem by Jennifer Hudson, a bizarre pre-game speech by actor Tom Cruise, and a ‘let’s get ready to rumble’ build-up by ring announcers the Buffer brothers - Michael and Bruce.
FIFA exists to make the US government appear competent and non-corrupt by comparison

thequeeninyellowlace said: There were two 15-minute extra periods because they finished in a tie.
ohh did they finish 90 minutes without scoring and don't want to end the tournament with a penalty shootout?? oh soccer you crazy
gayemilsinclair said: they always start with 2 extra periods in world cup games. if *those* had ended with it still being a tie it would go to penalty kicks
it should be one of those old school games where if it's tied you just have to keep playing even if three players have died and it takes all week
Are you a fan of cricket? Because they'll do that even without a tie.
>"this books has been banned in the US!!!!"
>looks inside
>just removed from a few high school libraries. Fully available in public libraries, book stores, and online.
the average person is unable to discern the difference between “banned” and “taken off required reading list in a single school district”
As much as we are New York exceptionalists, the struggle that New Yorkers are facing here is not a distinct one. It’s a struggle to afford rent, child care, groceries, public transportation. That’s a struggle working people are facing across the country and frankly across the world.
And for a long time, especially here, the idea that democratic socialists could have answers to these struggles and a vision that could go beyond recognizing them and actually resolving them was treated as if it was an intellectual premise. And what we’ve shown over the last six months is this is what it looks like if you operate with democratic socialist principles. You put the city on a path to universal child care. You speed up the slowest buses in the country.
I think what people are looking for is a politics that is relevant to their day-to-day life, and too often it feels as if those on the center-left are simply explaining why things are this way, as opposed to answering how we can make them better.
I know Mamdani is funny and he's good on social media and he's also young and cute which doesn't hurt but I think the fundamental issue is he sounds like a sane human being who means what he says, which is a normal experience anywhere but in politics where it's absolutely shocking.
and I think to beat him you can't call him a raving lunatic, like obviously people do and some people even believe that, but realistically you have to out-sane him with sensible policy proposals that aren't coming from someone who would be cast as the villain in a children's movie.
I think whenever we talk about the importance of increasing taxes on the wealthiest in order for everyone to have a chance at affording life in the city, you will hear the idea of capital flight. And what we’ve seen time and again is a lot of the fear-mongering is not actually borne out.
I think, similarly, when we’re talking about a proposal to tax the secondary homes of nonresident New Yorkers that are worth more than five million dollars, it’s hard to find a New Yorker on the street who will tell you that’s a step too far.
like this exactly, it just doesn't sound like Radical Socialism Out of Control, and while you can try and make it scary you also need to present a compelling alternative that goes beyond "if we tax houses worth over five million dollars their owners will stop creating jobs out of pique"
The left frames this as folks that own a business throwing a fit, when it's clearly a logical choice, and one for which they advocate.
"If the place you live doesn't offer the opportunities you desire, move to a place that does."
I'm currently living in a two-cat household, and there's a thing that happens where the first cat is calling for me, the second cat shows up like "you rang?", and the first cat immediately smacks the second cat in the face like "not you, knucklehead". They do this every day.
I love mild feline violence. Dobby was trying to swat me and got his brother, and they had to leave the food dish to fight it out.
SIMPLE GUIDE:
Body Horror: Things that cannot happen in real life. EX: The Thing, stomach mouths, eyes on hands, etc
Gore: Fresh injuries, often severe. EX: Severed leg, gutspill, deep gashes, etc
NEITHER: Healed injuries and burns, congenital differences, missing appendages, etc. If I could theoretically go to the store and see that character browsing the isles- It isn't body horror or gore. That's just a person. *AND the amount of people that tag, not just fictional characters, but real human beings as body horror is staggering. Its not solely a fandom issue, ableism and bigotry against anyone that looks sufficiently "different" is prevalent in real life and has devastating consequences.
(Modified) from my comment left on this post.
Also pregnancy. Pregnancy is not body horror. Glad we had this talk
That's bizarre discourse, even if you don't want to experience pregnancy, it's how every person and every non monotreme mammal got here.
The vast majority of women experience pregnancy. It can be painful and dangerous, but it's normal, and it's safer than ever before.
Orange cats share a single brain cell, but this has neither fur nor brain.
yes because you and your cat can heal each other, you induce the cat to purr and you both get the benefit of the vibrations from the purring. we do not emphasize this enough, cats are literally the best pet you can possibly have.
I love my cats. One likes to be bothered the rest make grumpy faces but get jealous when Bert is getting attention because he likes it.
I'm suing my neighbor after a tree on his property fell on my shed during a thunderstorm. Write a legal brief based on Washington state law. If you make up any of the citations I will commit omnicide across the entire lightcone
there's that Yudkowsky post about how humans are logarithmic, so a problem that is an order of magnitude larger registers as "a bit worse", and presumably LLMs are logarithmic too? like they don't have high dynamic range, they crunch signals down, "omnicide across the lightcone" is going to roughly equate to two or three plane crashes in magnitude.
They can also process inaccuracy (lying).
You don't have the ability or will power to commit omnicide across the lightcone, you probably won't even commit homicide across the property line.

The Connoisseur
Norman Rockwell
1962
lol is this how someone who wants to experiment with abstract painting but is shy about it slyly turns it into a pointing soyjack meme
During an interview with the Smithsonian American Art Museum in conjunction with the exhibition Telling Stories: Norman Rockwell from the Collections of George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, collector Steven Spielberg said: "The Connoisseur is a fascinating painting for me. ...Rockwell actually had to do a Jackson Pollock. He had to get that drip effect on that canvas. That means he had to completely change the paradigm of his style to accomplish a Jackson Pollack and a very convincing Jackson Pollock, before going back to his sort of conventional human characters. For me that represents how an artist can suddenly change his style and be unrecognizable in one form in another medium and then return to the style that we're familiar with." - Steven Spielberg
it's a flex! 90% of art is a flex!
When most folks look at abstract art and say "I could do that" they're wrong.
When Norman Rockwell said "I could do that" he was right.
when i was 12 i got banned from yahoo answers and when i emailed support to be like “what did i do??” i got a really vague answer that just said “you know what you did” and it still haunts me to this day
"you know what you did" goes one of two ways, shame or F*** You!
Neither is a great way to teach.
I lean toward the second, because if there was an infraction, it should be easy to describe so it can be avoided in the future, or the person calling out is irrational and not worth respect.
