hey rotomblr! been gone for a while so i figure it’s about time for a reintroduction!

my name is floris (they/them), and i’m an aspiring future professor and the current hoenn champion, which i have held the title for 8 years running as of this post! i was named on 8/13/2015 when i was ten years old, which some of you might remember the news coverage of. (side note: don’t look up any of my old interviews, they’re embarrassing as hell)

^ this is my official hoenn league trainer card! (no you will NOT see mine or my ‘mons registration numbers thank you) and before you guys get all up in arms about two of my hoenn registered team members being alolan, my League team is slightly different, and i don’t reveal that publicly.

the first is my blaziken, my sweet boy apollo <3 my first ever pokémon, given to me by our lovely professor birch! we’ve really grown up together, and despite how much i raised him, i think he raised me a little bit too. he’s a sassy, spoiled brat at his core but still incredibly loyal and affectionate. he’s my best trained, and dare i say my strongest. very protective, very loyal, impulsive about battles.

the second is latios, a member of the eon duo, who i met on a hidden island off the coast (not disclosing where) after his sister petitioned former champion steven stone and i for help. we saved him from illicit capture and he insisted upon traveling with me. he doesn’t take anything too seriously, but he’s not necessarily hyper.

the third is lunala- or nebby, who i technically adopted? i met it a couple of years after becoming hoenn champ, when i was 12, during my first attempt at beating alola’s league. it’s a long, long story, but tl;dr, after it evolved, its caretaker (a friend of mine) left it with me, saying i could take it on more adventures and give it a better life than she could, and i’m doing my best. it’s just happy to be along for the ride, really :)

fourth is rayquaza, who i met atop the sky pillar when i petitioned it for aid with the whole meteor situation. somehow, bewilderingly, i became its Chosen. i’m now its caretaker :)

fifth is my sylveon, pixie! she was an eevee i’d caught early on whose name i couldn’t decide on until one morning i woke up and she had just evolved overnight into a sylveon, and i was young and had no idea that could happen, so i assumed she was lost and had just somehow wandered her way into my tent lol, so i took her around the nearest town and asked if she belonged to anybody. eventually the pokémon center confirmed she was indeed mine! she was confused while this was going down but very happy to be there. she’s very playful and also very intent on helping me with tasks she thinks i need help with! it’s very sweet of her.

sixth is my lurantis, hyacinth, who i met in alola. she’s shyer and tends to keep to herself, and she really likes gardening like a lot of my grass types do. she brings me plant cuttings a lot!

champion flor will answer most asks, even abt their trauma 💀 they might answer asks from sentient/talking/anthropomorphic pokémon, but there’s like NO chance they’re gonna believe it.

i’m very much okay with high stakes rp! champion flor and their pokémon can get hurt irp, but they *will not* get killed. i’m also NOT EVER okay with, like.. sadistic shit. heavy angst is fine, being weird about the angst and having your evil character talk to mine about how much they like to torture pokémon is not.

NO pokémon nsfw allowed EVER! pokémon function as beloved and whimsical pets on this blog even if a couple can technically communicate telepathically. that is how they will remain. don’t be fuckin creepy, yo.

Then do it. It'll be harder for sure, but you can do it.

"I want to be a pokemon trainer and travel the world but I'm an older person"

Then do it. it's never too late to pick up pokemon training, you're never to old to learn a new skill.

"I want to go on my Pokemon journey but I have a disability"

You can still do it. It'll be different, and in many cases harder, but it can be done- hell, your pokemon might even be able to help you.

"I want to go on a Pokemon journey but I don't want to go alone."

Then bring friends with you- or make friends. There's groups now on swablusky I saw just the other day for matching up with other trainers in your experience range to travel together.

"I want to go on a Pokemon journey but I don't have a rival."

You don't need one. If you have that kind of self-motivation to carry yourself further, you don't NEED a rival.

Pokemon training, pokemon journeys, pokemon contests, all of these things are for everyone. Your experience might be different or harder or strange to someone else. But that doesn't mean it's any less than anyone else's. If you're thinking about taking that step into the world of pokemon companionship? Do it. This is your sign to give it a try.

Muse Mixup Madness—May 1, 2024

hello, one and all, and welcome to our very delayed prompts post! this should be the last time prompts are this late, since i've added reminders in my calendar now.

like i said before, this month there's going to be reruns. specifically, i'm going to be taking the most popular prompts from february and march to offer up again. so without further ado! all prompts are low fantasy.

1. What Once Went Wrong

This and What Once Went Right were originally one prompt, but given how different they are in practice I've decided to divide them into two. For this one, you'll be envisioning what your character's life would be like if an unfortunate event in their past either didn't happen or turned out in their favor.

2. What Once Went Right

Both sides of the coin are here today, but in the future you'll usually only be seeing one of this prompt and What Once Went Wrong. This one's the exact opposite of its twin: take a time in your character's life that worked out well or where they succeeded at something, and find out what would have happened if things hadn't ended so nicely.

3. The Road Not Taken

Decisions, decisions! Everyone's made them, and everyone's path in life has been forever altered by them. Pinpoint a critical choice your character once made, and see who they'd have become if they'd chosen a different option.

4. Home On The Range

We do have one new prompt, though it's a very different style from the other three! In the Pokémon Ranger games, people and Pokémon have a somewhat different relationship. What would your character be like if they were from one of those regions?

being Champion sounds cool and edgy before you actually become Champion and now you have to fucking answer emails

That’s why there are reigning champions for so long, over here at least. Paldea is more blatant about the system with the whole champion rank thing, but most other regions will offer you a final badge as proof of beating the champion and the league if you don’t actually want to become champion of the region.

Except for Galar. The guy who went undefeated the entire past decade just kinda did that.

can confirm we have something like that here in hoenn too- even though i beat the former Champion steven, i technically didn’t become “Champion” in the legal sense for a few years and was really only the holder of that final badge and had my team and i’s photo hung in the hall of fame.

our League figured a fifth grader wasn’t going to be great at all the bureaucratic legal shit Champions do behind the scenes (and they were right), so steven stayed in the role and did it for me until i got old enough to deal with it myself and that’s when i was formally handed over the title

though, just saying, i have also remained undefeated for almost a decade, sooooooo.. maybe i should pay galar a visit sometime lol

recreational non-League affiliated battles are a different story though lol, i freely admit i’ve gotten my ass whooped a couple of times by fellow Champions when we have that annual international Champion meeting- cynthia, sinnoh’s Champion, springs to mind. lovely woman, so nice, but she’s.. lowkey scary as fuck.

(she may or may not be the sole reason i refuse to take on sinnoh’s League challenge LMAOOOOOOO)

//ooc: long post under cut! positive childhood memory

It’s a hot August day on Lilycove City’s beautiful beach- the outskirts, of course, where the amount of visitors is very few and far between. This afternoon, there are only three.

Flor- ten, bright-eyed, still-raw pink and healing Chosen scars in perfect circles and lines running down along her arms and her spine- is scooping through the wet sand on the shore with her small hands, picking up the colorful, translucent rocks she finds and dropping them in her bright pink plastic bucket by the handful as the water laps at her folded legs.

After as many as she deems enough, she tugs herself out of the warm, wet sand, squatting for a moment to pet the old Sharpedo nudging through the sand in an effort to assist just the way Archie taught her- head to fin, never fin to head- so she doesn’t cut her hand. “Don’t worry, I got ‘em!” She grins. “Thanks for your help, Sharpedo!”

With that, it withdraws and continues its ‘patrol’ along the shore, swimming back and forth with a watchful eye over the three on the beach.

She picks up the bucket, thin plastic handle nearly folding in half and snapping with the weight of the rocks in the bucket. She runs along the sand, lifting the bucket mid-stride to wrap both arms around the container for more support, still straining under the weight.

“Maxie!” She calls, clumsily rushing up to the three beach chairs set out a little further from the shore, nearly tripping on the way there, “Maxie, I got something for you!”

The man in question lifts his head from his book- one about geology, if Flor had to hazard a guess- to look up at her for a moment. “What is it?” He answers, almost sharply.

Flor doesn’t mind. By now, she’s figured out that’s kinda just how he is. “So- I didn’t want you to feel left out, ‘cause me and Archie were building that big sandcastle,” She jerks her head back at Archie, who’s hard at work on what essentially amounts to a complex sand sculpture at this point, “And we kept finding these pretty rocks while getting more sand, so I wanted to find more for you, because you like rocks ‘n all that kinda stuff.”

The former Team Magma leader raises a brow, intrigued. She picks one out of the bucket, a pretty red one, and offers it out to him to inspect. He takes it, holds it up to the light of the sun, and says, on impulse, just about to correct her, “This is-“

And then he stops himself. He looks up at her proud little face, beaming at him. He looks at the “rock”. And he seems to make a decision.

“This is beautiful,” Maxie settles on, nodding at the little girl in approval. “Thank you, Floris.”

She drops the bucket next to his chair, clapping. “Yay!” She cheers. “Do you like them?”

“I do,” he agrees. “You have done well.”

Maxie pauses, glancing at the bucket, then back to Archie. “With that said..” he trails off. “I do believe Archie is missing his assistant sculptor, little one. You might want to rejoin him.”

Flor gasps, having completely forgot about the sandcastle building she left halfway in-progress. She nods, quickly. “Thank you! Have fun looking at the rocks!” She yells back, racing back to the shore so quickly she nearly trips and falls flat on her face, with the reckless abandon kids her age often possess.

(Months later, Flor would figure out, to her own embarrassment, she gave him a bucket of sea glass, not rocks. Years later, they would discover an ornate box in one of the drawers in his office full of that very same sea glass, along with a secretly-taken candid photo taken of Flor and Archie on that day, mid-sculpture building.)

Are you officially your patron’s trainer? Like are they registered to you as your Pokémon? Because that’s kinda. Huh. That’s a lot of trust.

yeah no it is- but It’s registered to me. i can elaborate on this more later if y’all want.

Lord Rayquaza’s told me before that the reason why it let me catch It to begin with because it was required to mega evolve (or, rather, the ancient term for it that i can’t remember) in order to stop the meteor which was technically my fault. and to do that, we needed to forge a link somehow. the quickest way to do so without a complicated ancient ritual (and without being a Draconid) was to catch It, and i did so.

after the meteor was over and dealt with, i offered to release It, but It declined my offer after hemming and hawing for a bit. iirc, It said something to Itself like “I THINK I’D RATHER LIKE TO SEE HOW THIS ONE TURNS OUT.” or something equally as ominous to that effect, and that was that. It seems happy enough- and if It wanted to leave, i definitely don’t think i could stop It.
