The thing about in-universe podracing rpf is that Anakin himself would be pretty popular in there, but not only that, is that he's the link between the podracing rpf AND the Jedi rpf, both communities that outside of Anakin, wouldn't usually touch but because of Anakin they do and I'm sure it brings up a lot of drama

Podracers rpf are all about having little Ani being adopted by the Big popular gay ship or either as the golden kind that is in love with some of the sons of the other pilots and creates drama, it probably also focuses more on social issues because podracing is after all, a blood sport first, so many became podracers out of neccesity or are outright forced (slaves) and through prizes win their freedom. So podracer rpf!Ani is most likely just a cute potato sweetheart of a kid, which is actually what Ani used to be, but he remains so as an adult by the fanfic authors, basically they see him as kind of how actual SW fandom views Luke.

Now, rpf!Jedi fans,,,, that's a whole other deal. But oh boy, we can BET that podracers rpf fans hate how they characterize Anakin, lmao. He's the Bad Boy and he gets shipped with virtually everyone and their mom. (Everyone BUT the persons the podracing rpf shippers like to pair him with, like the podracer's sons)

In fact, maybe TCW is actually fanfic made by the rpf Jedi fans, who knows...

The thing is, there's a 90% chance that after Obi-Wan dropped the 'actually your dad was a jedi' Luke tried to look up Anakin Skywalker on the holonet and found many, many fanfics and most of these he regrets clicking on.

the fic in question was heat waves, for the record. i wasn't part of the target audience of that fic (dream team rpf) but I was close enough (dsmp) at the time that i know a lot of tea from that side of the fandom (inbox me if you want to hear about it, i don't want to derail this post even more) and i definitely clicked on that fic once (never read it, though, rpf just isn't my thing). i think the fic's been deleted now? /gen

anyways, a relevant but slightly cracky fix-it could totally involve anakin making a public statement on it only to accidentally say something disturbing enough for the public to start seeing ol' palps as a creep. then again, given the state of current american politics, this could also get real ugly real fast…

the galaxy gets fixed through the power of the very small crowd of fans who have been making "dead dove do not eat, non con/dub con, grooming, manipulation, whump, religion, cults,, murder" fics in the RPF esphere, and Anakin finding them accidentally and being like "first of all, the chancellor is a good man, second, i wasn't 16 when he took me to a shady bar, i was 13, and third-" and he got already dragged out by a horrorized Obi-Wan and palpatine's PR team is running like crazy

a little funny that the common star wars practice of taking aesthetic elements from foreign cultures as to appear "alien" to american audiences so throughly wrecked jedi discourse on here and made it so u can't critique the jedi without being told they're buddhists/jewish/muslim/sikh/asexual, when the jedi in the actual text have far more in common with george lucas' methodism and his later struggle to commit to both a marriage and a demanding career.

the fascist allegory in star wars has always drawn from american imperialism, as do all the politics in the prequels, and the jedi's later status as persecuted and hunted down do not override their willing service as army of the republic, but a few blunt aesthetic choices have made it so many are genuinely convinced that doing apologetics for a fictional institution is both progressive and a duty that includes disavowing the actual protagonist of the whole saga, mr star wars, as #problematic. the prequels politics were muddy enough b4 u all somehow brought rampant traditionalism in . and i cannot stress this enough: the jedi aren't real

I will start to headcanon from now on that 'Bail' is just a ridiculously common name in Alderaan, the equivalent of James or Pedro or something, because Breha's brother was also called Bail, it could have been ridiculously easy to avoid the exact same names in a little faimiliar group, but no, they did it anyway. So that's it, Bail is the Alderaanian James., that's it.
