Jokes on you I've always loved printers! All praise to the great machine that allows me to print whatever I want directly in my home! When I was 9 years old I used all my mum's printer ink making epic, black backgrounded tiger themed birthday cards for her on MS paint and printing them out and wondering why the paper was sopping wet and so easy to tear and then printing it again because I messed the first one up. And this was in the time before WiFi so everything took fucking 15 minutes to process at least. And she found me doing this and said hey you're not wasting all my printer ink are you? And I said absolutely not because to me this was the most important thing in the world and not a waste. And do you know what? She did like the card after all so I was right to do it. I've spent my life being a person who prints random images and memes and sticks them up around my house for fun. I have made meme scavenger hunts around my home, which is a great activity for drunken party guests. I am making a zine. I am patient with my printer and I read her manual and I understand how to use her. The only reason I would keep a gun next to my printer is to defend her from hostiles.

Google set out about a decade ago to push their (relatively unpopular) chromebooks by supplying them below-cost to schools for students, explicitly marketing them as being easy to restrict to certain activities, and in the offing, kids have now grown up in walled gardens, on glorified tablets that are designed to monetize and restrict every movement to maximize profit for one of the biggest companies in the world.
