my new theory: covid had to become 'just a cold' culturally because more research is coming out all the time about how you don't wanna get sick in general, it can absolutely fuck up your life, and people realizing that will inevitably result in people demanding changes to the way things work.
the thing that they don't want you to know is that these acute sicknesses, common viruses and colds, can either cause direct damage or create the circumstances that lead to long term, often complex health problems down the road. by 'they', i mean the people who have a vested interest in putting all our bodies through the meat grinder of late stage capitalism 'business as usual', no matter the circumstances.
i don't have a lot of spoons to write about this today and i'm brain foggy so i'm not gonna be the most eloquent but
think about the implications if your boss making you come in sick can lead to your coworker developing parkinsons or ms or heart damage or cancer. if people knew these things, they would absolutely not take the business as usual shit we're doing right now. people would demand paid time off. people would demand universal healthcare. people would demand so much more.

if we all really understood this, i believe more of us would be masking up. i don't want this for any of us and it's important to know these things.
i don't think that there is necessarily a global conspiracy to keep this from us, obviously donald trump and joe biden have gotten covid a billion times and are suffering because of it, obviously some of it is just plain ignorance but it is true that the powers that be have a vested interest in us not understanding this.

I'd argue that trans radfems have a much more solid overlap with MRAs on that front, because they repeatedly expressed that they believe being assigned female gives you a privilege. Their hatred towards detransitioners also stems from it - they tend to equate detransitioners with "afab only former trans men" and see detransition as something trans men are "allowed" to do.

one thing about medical misogyny experienced by "female-presenting patients" (the term usually used in healthcare, maybe not an ideal term but it is the one that's used) is that there are a lot of different ways to be or become a "female-presenting patient."
For some, it will be being a woman, cis or trans, and presenting as such. For others, it will be an F on the patient documentation, whether or not that matches your gender presentation. For others, it will be when despite the M on your documentation, you are forced to seek care for your cervix, or for an ovarian cyst, or pre-natal care. Your old name appearing on a form somewhere. Patient history notes that reveals pap smears or a history of taking birth control, or pregnancy. No one in any of these situations is immune to medical misogyny because any of these situations can put them in the "female-presenting patient" category in the minds of their healthcare providers. None of these situations confer immunity. The only situations that make you completely immune to medical misogyny is being perceived 100% fully 100% of the time as a cis man, with no possibility that your providers could find out or guess otherwise. And the only people that could possibly apply to are cis men. Anyone else is extremely likely to be found out or clocked in a medical setting. I know this requires an obvious and basic understanding of both the medical system and how sexism works, and is therefore confusing to a lot of people.
In case anyone was wondering about the current state of transfeminism, one of the most praised transfeminist authors just boldly and unapologetically referred to someone as "tdickmatized".

A claim refuted by Califa in 1992 before the first edition of the cited book was even released:

I think it's developmentally inappropriate.'
So, yeah, okay, this is just straight up lying to call a queer man a child rapist so you can feel great about sexually harassing him by mocking his genitals in public.
