WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS | 2.10
Anyway...it’s BLM all day every day.
‘Statues are not the mechanism by which we understand history. We learn history through museums, through books, through television programmes. Statues are about adoration. They are about saying that this man was a great man and he did great things. That is not true. He was a slave trader and a murderer.’
- historian David Olusoga on BBC News, regarding the statue of Edward Colston being pulled down by BLM protestors in Bristol, and the “erasing history” argument used to criticise the act.
in the words of the great Elizabethan wordsmith William Shakespeare, in Hamlet Act IV Scene V, “When sorrows come, they come not single spies, but in battalions.” or, in the words of the great Twitter wordsmith @Horse_ebooks,

Black Lives Matter today, tomorrow, and everyday after that.
My heart goes out to all the black lives that were taken unlawfully by the hands of police.

You can identify a fake redneck by their passionate support of “blue lives matter.” Real rednecks have been in at least one physical fight and/or high-speed chase with police officers and would do it again
why would you leave this in the tags, your gramps is a Legend
true red necks fought for OSHA, unions and labor rights
how does wine DO what it DOES. I feel sexy. I feel relaxed. I wanna take off my pants and kiss.

Rootin’, tootin’, toil n’ shootin’
Fire burn and cowboy bootin’
Eye of newt and spicy beans,
Toe of frog and denim jeans,
Whiskey, grits, n’ demon spittle

With the tannin’ of our hides,
Somethin’ wicked this way rides
Not that anyone asked for this but
everyone asked for it they just didn’t know they did
So “Mystery Spot” was on this morning. I don’t really know how many times I’ve watched it, but it’s been a while. I was struck anew by several things.
1. Sam was seriously unhinged. I remember the first time I realized that he actually had a cheeseburger sitting on the table for an absent Dean. His OCD making of the bed and I can’t remember, but was it the first time we saw his obsessive gun cleaning that appears in many episodes after this one? Dean watching him coming apart really helped sell it too.
2. Jared was fantastic in this episode. We now know that he was going thru some things in season 3, but you would never know that by his acting. Watching Sam’s slow unraveling, his shut down, then begging Gabriel to bring Dean back is just brilliant. So many facets of Sam in one episode and Jared made us feel every one of them. That last look at the unmade bed makes my throat hurt every time.
3. Damn but Jensen was so pretty in this episode. Jared too, of course, but there were some very pretty shots of Jensen’s eyes and lashes. Kim Manners knew how to make our boys shine. So many great close ups.

kids these days with their favorite character as their lockscreens… when I was a youth you had to carefully arrange all your favorite anime pictures on a word document and print it out to carefully slip inside the plastic sleeve of your three ring binder
this just unlocked repressed memories in my brain
Favorite Zuko moments (1/?)
Ok but Zuko using the knowledge he acquired during his banishment to help him as the Fire Lord. Like making small talk with Earth Kingdom dignitaries about their local foods that he enjoyed and even misses. Like having in-depth conversations with his captains about sea currents and navigation. Like, in the middle of a meeting with several high-ranking naval officials, pointing out flails in security, like how a person can cling to a Fire Nation ship for hours at a time, or climb aboard using hatches on the upper decks, or disguise themselves as a lower ranking guard with easily accessible spare armour….
Though none of his experiences can prepare Zuko for the long, awkward silence that comes after he admits to doing or at least knowing something illegal and/or completely buck wild
fire lord zuko: you should maybe revisit the security measures around the water ducts that the sealturtles use
northern water tribe leader: that’s not necessary, no one can survive submerged in the artic ocean for so many minutes
zuko:
zuko: remember that time the fire nation attacked you
Zuko: okay first you have to promise not to get mad
Earth King: Tell me about your first visit to Ba Sing Se.
Zuko:
