Here’s the thing about grief; it never goes away.
It stays with you like dust on the top shelf of a cupboard,
no matter how much you clean it there’s always one last speck.
It stays with you, rotting your insides until you’re nothing but a flesh suit held up by the space they left.
Yet, you can never quite grasp it.
You can’t hold your grief in your hands and beg it to stop hurting, you can’t touch it, it isn’t tangible so why does it hurt so fucking much?
It’s funny how tears feel like rain on your face.
I feel as if I am filled with dusty air,
empty on the inside yet filled with things that you can never quite get rid of.
And my grief, my grief is my child.
It is born from the death of everyone I’ve ever loved, it grows in my stomach, in my ribs, in every crevice of my heart until it’s bursting out of me.
My grief cries in my arms until I’m drowning in its tears and I too am crying.
My grief is my everything and my nothing, it takes up every space in my body then leaves me empty and gutted.
My grief lives and dies with me.

which means Max has spent more time in Hawkins in a coma than with her friends
fanfic writers and fan artists are carrying fandoms. they are the backbone of fandoms.
thank you fanfic writers and fan artists
Sooo, are we ever going to talk about these two, or...?
I'll never get tired of this reunion.
Never watched this movie but fun fact those are f/a-18E's you can tell by the rectangular air intakes (whereas the f/a-18 hornet has oval air intakes) making them super hornets and the fact that they're "single seaters" (pilot only) meaning that they're specifically f/a-18E's cause the f/a-18F's are two seaters.
Pete "if I ain't spotless neither are you, for once in my life I wanna see this through" 'Maverick' Mitchell
and
Tom "I need you like God needs the devil someday soon, this dusts gonna settle" 'Iceman' Kazanksy
Top Gun fandom! Specificly Sereshaw/Hangster readers - do yall remember a fic where I think Bradley got divorced a bunch of times. Jake is his divorce attorney and they end up together at the end? I remember seeing it on ao3 and thought I had it saved but guess not 😭

I am also not tagging 20 people lmao fuck this longass username
Enjoyed myself tho :)
Right, you know what? I’m gonna take the no tags as an invitation to participate because this looks really fun and I love music.
Similarly to above, if there are any repeated letters, I’ll find another song with that letter. And if there aren’t any, I’ll choose a song not on the playlist that I know I listened to a lot (because I listen to a lot of music and 100 songs is a mere snapshot of my listening habits lmao). So hell yeah, let’s go!!
Immigrant song - Led Zeppelin
West end girls - Pet shop boys
It’s not enough - Mallavora
Lateralus - TOOL
Lonely day - System of a down
Sultans of swing - Dire straits
The masterplan - Oasis
And justice for all - Metallica
Bitter sweet symphony - The verve

Now on to the tags (no pressure obvs): @kookaburrito @ramyaknox @airlocksandaviaries @sonnywrites @spineless-lobster @gaiusjuliuswheezer @rebeccasteventaylor @go-johnny-go-go-go-go @silverview @justanothercomedynerd @bluestareyedweakness @vexonlegs (I think that’s 12? For a maths nerd, I really don’t trust my basic counting abilities) And then of course anyone else who wants to participate. I mean it. It’s what I did after all…
Anyway, enjoy! This was really good fun :)
Thank you so much!! I never thought I'd be tagged in one these!
This is going to be very interesting seeing as I have the longest url in history and lots of repeating letters, but I like a challenge. Like it said before if there isn't a song that fits that letter I'll just pick one that I know I've listened to a lot.

I'm not really sure who to tag to be honest but I'll just get on with it. Also don't be offended as I have literally no idea how this works and please don't feel the pressure. I feel like I'll get told off in a minute for being overly polite and worrying so here I go.

Ethan and Pete Mitchell were born during a warm summer night, both slightly smaller than expected. Their father couldn't have been more proud. Their mother, however, was weak and exhausted after long hours of agonizing labour. She loved her sons more than anything else, but she knew that the upcoming months would be hard with Duke being gone most of the time.
All too soon the first weeks turned into months and the two boys turned into crawling rascals, their mother barely able to keep up during the day, crying many tears at night, Duke mostly far away with some Navy related missions. From his perspective, he did all he could to provide for his little family.
However, his wife had no idea that he was more than a simple naval aviator. By the time his sons had turned into toddlers, he was deeply involved in intelligence work. Already back in the day he had started to arrange everything in case something would happen to him. His sister Maggy and his friend Mike would step in and take care of his family for him.
By the time Viper returned from Vietnam, still mourning his best friend (with benefits during those long nights on the carriers), the Mitchell family was gone - Ethan shipped off to his aunt's farm and Pete sucked into the foster system after their mother had lost her fight against her inner demons.
Over the years, memories of each other had turned vague, unsure what had been a dream and what had been reality.
Despite growing up without his father by his side, but a lot of unwelcoming foster families instead, Pete was still haunted by his father's ghost. All he ever wanted to be was a naval aviator. The academy didn't accept him, but that didn't stop Maverick. By the end of 1986 he had a new family, lost his best friend and found the love of his life.
Ethan on the other hand had grown restless on his aunt's farm. Going away for college should have satisfied him, but in true Mitchell fashion he just couldn't stay away from trouble - or rather, trouble always found him. In this particular case, the trouble was called Marie. Meeting at college on the east coast, they ended up in the torn city of Berlin in the autumn of 1989. Ethan had never fully understood what Marie was involved in, but love made him follow her to the end of the world. Several weeks later, he returned to the United States, alone, having been recruited for impossible missions.
In the early nineties, both brothers were caught in the politics of a changing world. One flying missions during Desert Storm, cherishing every night in which he could steal a kiss from Ice after having survived the day before. The other sneaking through the former countries of the Soviet Union, being trained by a new father figure and seeking the thrill of kissing another man’s lips.
Ethan wouldn't allow himself to love Jack. The sex was good, their work even better - he saw no reason to change that. Listening to him being crushed to death in an elevator shaft in Prague, left something broken inside Ethan. He buried it behind thick walls, just beside losing his whole team and being betrayed by someone who had been like a father to him once. It was only during cold, lonely nights, drunk out of his mind when he would allow himself to dig up those ghosts.
Only a few months later, Ethan got sent on a solo mission to Bosnia. There, he not only found his intel in a dirty basement, but also a bloody and beaten version of himself. He didn't care about the mission anymore as he carried his brother into the light of the new day.
To be continued...?

Power, Position, and Leadership
Imagine you are an American president, taking one last lingering look around the Oval Office as you reflect on the contributions made during your time in office- the successes, the failures, and the responsibilities each outcome held. You pause as your gaze settles on the seat you must leave behind.
The sheer amount of power that seat holds!
Is it empty? Or is that emptiness a mere reflection of the inner struggle you now feel knowing that power will soon belong to another?
You quietly step towards the doorway and reach towards the knob. Glancing back one last time, you realize that part of the inner struggle you may experience is also a sense of relief at having, literally, the weight of the world removed from your shoulders.
The sheer amount of responsibility that seat holds!
And not just any seat. That seat!
You gently close the door and walk outside the building, knowing you must now redefine yourself as someone who once occupied that seat, and uncertain as to how to do that.
Power, you see, belongs to that seat and is merely borrowed by those who occupy it. It is the power of the position, and the person occupying that position must choose whether to use that power for the country’s benefit or to abuse that power for his own.
That seat, however, is not the only seat of power in existence. There are seats just like that one all over the country, in every household, job, municipality, etc. Those who hold the power of a position such as heads of household, teachers, law enforcement officers, social media influencers, journalists, managers, supervisors, etc. must make the choice every day how they are going to use that power.
These choices, ironically, do not rely on the power a position holds but on how the person occupying that position chooses to engage in the work associated with that position. Do they delegate authority to others as they work to build a winning team in alignment with the values/goals of the business, organization, or institution? Or do they relegate responsibilities onto others as they work to make it appear as if they believe in anything other than themselves?
If you have questions about what kind of leaders you are working under, then start observing how they engage in their own work. Do they accept responsibility for the good, the bad, and the ugly? Or do they blame others for the bad and the ugly while crafting false narratives accentuating their goodness at others’ expense? How do they interact with others? With you?
To answer these and other questions regarding leadership, we need only reflect on the seat. Yes, that seat.
Which American presidents accepted responsibility for the state of the union, and which ones blamed others?
Which presidents worked with Congress to meet the needs of the people, and which ones controlled Congress via bullying, intimidation, gaslighting, and other abusive tactics?
Which presidents respected the rule of law, and which ones defied it?
Which presidents at least tried to create a more perfect union, and which ones tried to divide it?
Which ones used that seat for good, and which ones abused that seat for personal gain?
I will leave the answers up to you.
Until the next time,
