I known i yapped about this previously but im yapping again! Namely because I never intend to write this so i need to get it tf out of my head. WOF au; set a decade or two before the dragonets prophecy.
Rumi (Orchid) is a nightwing/rainwing hiding in the rain forest. She looks rainwing enough to fake it but has secret prophetic powers she despises. Shes bulkier than a normal rainwing and her venom is FAR more potent than it should be (melts non biological matter too) so she tends to isolate and is fairly awkward especially because she gets horrific prophetic dreams about dragons she gets too close to. The rainwing queen (Wasp/Celine) keeps a close eye on her being the only living dragon that knows shes a hybrid. Especially with the issues with the nightwings get worse and the sandwing war gets FAR worse. Eventually Wasp has to ask her to leave when she almost gets caught by a nightwing assassin and they all realize she can breath fire. Shes now hiding pathetically in seawing territory as a ‘loner’ because her broader body and overly complicated sails make it easy for her to color morph into a fuck ass looking seawing. No one bothers her because everyone thinks shes insane. Theres rumors she might be an animus (she isnt but its easier if people think she is so shes using rainwing tricks to invisibly throw shit at anyone who comes close enough to see through her disguise)
Zoey (Tidepool) a seawing from a middle noble family. She’s been connected at the wing tips to her ‘flight buddy’ a skywing princess who used to be furious about being trained alongside seawings until her and Tidepool got closer. They’re pretty good friends when her mother sends the two of them to go scout out weird stories in the far south of the kingdom about a loner acting strangely. Tidepool finds them first and gleefully tries to chat while Orchid literally starts throwing rocks and sea shells at her with the tip of her tail that she’s hidden against the sand. Which in turn infuriates the skywing.
Mira (Thermal) a skywing princess who has four older sisters all vying for the crown and cant be bothered to keep up with her mother’s shrewdness or her eldest sisters aggression. Got sent to help broker seawing peace treaties and ended up paired with Tidepool for ‘training’. Is very reluctant to admit that Tidepool is a lot more fun than any of the rigid stiff necked skywing dragonets she’s used to. Thermal almost mauls the hybrid when it goes to attack her friend and is the one that almost takes rainwing venom to her throat. Its only sheer dumb luck that saves any of them while the dragon (orchid) panics and attempts to flea. Unfortunately for the loner being from the rainforest means her wings are under developed and thermal catches her easily. Its an absolute shit show and a half before she finally unhides herself.
These three morons now have a choice to make. Do thermal and tidepool try to help the hybrid or turn her in? Burn would be very interested in her but the thought turns both of their stomachs so they decide rather quickly. ‘Can you look like a skywing?’ So in turn Orchid essentially plays pretend skywing for years while the three of them flight abouts to hide from the war and keep her alive. They end up in possibility and stay there as an odd trio but its possibility. No one really questions them. In turn orchid starts helping with construction projects thanks to her venoms ability to bond metals, thermal routes into helping the town bolster its air defenses and tidepool starts training young hybrids how to use their differences as advantages.
