i love writing out numbers and then putting them in parentheses like "one (1)" even when i dont need to i think its funny
This is true of the manga, but I love how the anime accentuates the absolute physical trust the apprentices have with Qifrey. Specifically with Agott, the way she is so ready when Qifrey says “hang on tight, I need my hands free” to cling to him a mile into the sky, and then in the latest episode, how, as soon as she impacts Qifrey while flying to him, she makes no move to save herself, she just curls into him and trusts that he will keep them from falling.
And I think it works as a signal to the audience, to subtly go “hey, I know we don’t trust Qifrey right now, he’s being shady, but we can always trust him to protect the physical wellbeing of his kids. Remember that.” Idk man maybe I’m getting too attached to a teeny detail but aaaaaaghhhh that’s her dad.
they're still terming random transfems as i type this i see which does make quite a statement doing this today specifically
watched three girls who reblogged its new blog mutual aidpost (made literally 15 minutes ago) already disappear from its notifs. transfems are not included in their pride :/
QUITE the statement to be nuking transfems at the current accelerated pace right at the start of pride month like this, isn't it
Sorry, my what? My pronouns? Oh, yeah I'm between genders at the moment. No, it's cool, I quit my last gender a little while ago because it really wasn't working out. I don't know if I even have a dream gender anymore.
Oh yeah, it did come with benefits, but they weren't really worth it. The culture was really toxic. To be honest I think I'd prefer a part-time gender so I can just be self-described in my spare time.
I mean, in a perfect world we wouldn't need gender, you know? We could just voluntarily be perceived as much as we're able, as much as makes us feel fulfilled. Having a full-time gender shouldn't be a prerequisite for food, shelter, and healthcare.
I'm immortalizing the original video on my blog forever cause I forgot that it's not nearly as well known as the taylor swift one. please watch this

A lot of the time when I point out that some right-wing policy is proven to not achieve the thing it purports to have as a goal, people rightly point out that the real goal is the negative outcomes that do happen.
Which is correct!
But this is often framed as me approaching the right wing naively by the respondent.
That's not the case at all. I know they're evil. The goal is to demonstrate that they're lying by exposing the way the rhetoric fails to line up with reality.
This has to be ongoing work because someone new has their political awakening every day. Every day, someone needs to learn that the right wing position is wrong on all levels, not just the obvious ones.
there will be people out there who still think the war on drugs (as the absolute first thing that comes to mind) is a legitimate social cause against an antisocial blight on society. if you come out the gate with (the very true statement) that it's actually been a deliberate campaign to target minorities and other undesirable groups to the ruling class, you're going to sound like a clueless conspiracy nut
whereas if you come with a very defensible, statistically supported point of "it doesn't work and has never worked" you can open the door to the follow up question of "why did the government do it in the first place, and (in many cases) why are they still doing it?"
This, exactly.
The play is to:
Demonstrate that the policy doesn't work
Demonstrate that the people enforcing the policy have everything they need to know it doesn't work
Provide the context of what the policy achieves in the absence of its "intended" outcome.
Remind people that the purpose of a system is what it does.
Then, instead of being a non-sequitur claim you're just pulling out of thin air, the conclusion is the most reasonable way to assemble the provided puzzle pieces.
hey friends where is that picture of boromir with the gondor flag except its a pride flag?
Couldn’t find it so I made another because you’re right that it’s a crime and it’s definitely my duty to remedy it
Can everyone who makes video content do a Deaf bitch a favor? Watch your shit with the captions on and the sound off, and then do another round of editing to fix things including but not limited to:
Captions cover the spot on the screen you put the information I need
The dialogue is captioned but not the song you have playing that the dialogue is responding to
You only captioned the person on the screen, not the person off screen who is also talking
No captioning of critical sound effects (alarms, bells, dogs barking, etc)
Speakers are not labelled at moments where it is not clear on the screen who is talking.
Captions cover the spot on the screen that you put the information I need!
Other d/Deaf people welcome to add.
This post brought to you by the fifth video tutorial I could not follow because the bad, auto-generated captions covered what I was trying to watch today.

This very production of Orpheus & Eurydice is now available to stream, free, for the month of June.
The carrier of carriers. A tribute to Terry Pratchett
I am deeply confused by people who are deeply confused by the appeal of WFH jobs. Like - you enjoy commuting? You enjoy shivering by the bus stop at ass o'clock and then being stuck in traffic for however long twice a work day regardless of what else you need to get done? You enjoy exclusively eating lunches that can be eaten cold or respond well to be microwaved? Incredibly alien perspective.
Some of my old-timer colleagues tell stories of having to take midnight calls with teams on the other side of the world, back before WFH, even back before you could call people on the computer. So they were essentially hanging out in the office all evening and then taking a phone call. No matter what benefits people name about in-person collaboration or whatever, WFH has had a huge quality of life benefit on this type of white collar work. I had a few months last year where I had multiple after midnight calls each week. So much nicer being able to just roll out of bed, and then have a late start the next morning!
I am 100% WFH. I did some back of the envelope math once, and I calculated that working from home saved me something like $30k per year. Not that it's "worth" $30k to me (actually, it's probably worth more), but that I literally have an extra $30k of disposable income in my bank account specifically because I can work from home. Now, I am likely an edge case; I don't think that a typical person would be able to realize that amount of savings. But WFH allows vastly more flexibility in living arrangements, which would not be possible with a traditional workplace environment.
since its june i wanted to admit that about 3 years ago i made what is probably my biggest contribution to the internet
