Gosh I'm still thinking about Project Hail Mary, I think I just realized part of what makes it all so human and special, it's how SCRAPY Grace is! He doesn't have any training, he doesn't know what half of the buttons do, but the most important part is that he doesn't treat any of it with the restraint you would expect from the situation.

He's reckless with the machinery and doesn't think twice before tearing it appart to fit his needs, he modifies the space so he can traverse it better, he calls the ship "Mary" even it doesn't have any artificial intelligence of any kind, and all of it is key to the feeling of the movie.

This is why the scene with Carl at the beginning is so important!

Project Hail Mary is NOT a SCIENTIFIC MISSION, it's a SCHOOL PROJECT!!! The kind of project where you and your buddy go to home depot and build a shitty model using wooden sheets, cardboard and duct tape!!

This is a literal "Hammerhead" shark created by artist Matt Sanders.

The sculpture is made from 685 reclaimed steel hammer heads and weighs 500 lbs (about 227 kg). It took approximately 2,500 hours of work to weld together. Sanders even used sledgehammers for the eye sockets and ball-peen hammers for the eyes to give it a realistic look.

It was displayed at the Aquarium of the Pacific in California and remains one of the coolest examples of upcycled art out there.

I've been a lot on audiobooks lately and it feels like i lost the ability to read words on paper lmao which isn't true, i'm mostly down the x-stitching rabbit hole lately as well which keeps my eyes and hands very busy and so i don't find myself reaching for physical books or ebooks as often c: i am however readings fanfiction so that still rules somewhere heheh

This was a soft and unexpected reading! Idk if soft is the best word though i feel like toadling is so full of love and respect that it just fits her a lot. I was surprised it was a retelling in a different magical twist and i absolutely enjoyed my way through it, the fae being evil and down to mischief or utter cruelty everywhere and just, on the other side, so capable of love as the greenteeth (pardon if i misheard something, i'm just writing the names from memory). I love that toadling's magic is connected to water, wow, yeah omgosh. And how much magic she could actually unravel even if she felt herself such an incapable, small toadling being. It was a lovely adventure 🩵✨
