I'll always prefer the reading that Sonic has had feelings for Amy atleast on a subconscious level since Adventure 1 much more than the more common interpretation that it didn't take him until IDW/Frontiers, cause the deal isn't "oh Amy had to mature and change herself before getting Sonic to like her" but instead "Sonic is emotionally stunted when it comes to how he feels towards love". Not only is it far more charitable and fair towards Amy, but also the more interesting character read for Sonic
