Ok, so I’ve been looking through my old notes and stumbled upon the personality stuff I've been highly interested a few years back. So here is my analysis of Ekko (ENTP) x INFP!Reader.
Both of you are intuitive and adaptable, though in a different ways. As a person more reserved and intuitive, while Ekko is outgoing and rational to the point that it leaves you surprised at the way he thinks, though being street-smart is probably the only way to survive on the streets of the Undercity.
When he is proposing the ideas he has he usually does it directly and as logically as possible, at the same time waiting patiently for your imputes. Sometimes he does that before addressing the Firelights just so you would be able to voice your opinion without being scared of rejection.
Resolving conflict
Even though Ekko tends to be more emotional, as the leader of the Firelights he knows how to argument with logic rather then feelings and that sometimes leaves you frustrated. So in order to avoid that from happening, both try to look at things from others perspective: at first, he gives you alone time and then tries listening without interruption. Even tough it stresses him out a bit when you are not talking with him. usually, after the break from each other, you can always find him in his room making small knick knocks for the Sanctuary.
Building trust
INFPs tend to trust ENTPs who listen and give them plenty of space, while ENTPs tend to trust INFPs who share their thoughts openly and avoid being passive-aggressive or overreacting. ENTPs should strive to listen to INFPs and give them plenty of room to process. INFPs can practice sharing their thoughts openly and should strive to raise their concerns calmly but directly rather than passively.
Work together
INFPs bring empathetic reasoning to a work environment, while ENTPs offer logical thinking. INFPs can help ENTPs consider others when making decisions, while ENTPs can help INFPs find logical answers to problems.
Due to their Perceiving trait, both INFPs and ENTPs tend to be naturally accepting of new situations. They are adaptable personalities who tend to crave unexpected experiences and appreciate positive change.
INFP and ENTP types need to seek to understand what brings stress to the other type and should try to avoid causing it when possible. Ekko can't stress enough how he appreciates your understanding approach towards him and tries to do the best for you too.
As your INFP and his ENTP types can encourage and motivate each other in their personal and professional lives, you both work hard to create the best home you could in the cruel world of Runeterra.
The finals on taxation law are killing me, so the only thing I wish is to cuddle some fictional men as much as I want....
Silco - breakfast "dates"
This man is busy.
Like half if not most of the Zaun is under his attentive gaze and the only time you get him alone is more or less free - before the day actually starts. Surprisingly not peeved at all for a person who went to bed at 3 am at best. It’s also too early for Jinx or Sevica to join on the meal so usually just you two.
Despite his position, is actually quite a gentleman who pours you the drinks and passes you things that are out of your reach, while softly chatting about something. Prefers you to not talk about business - it’s too early for that so usually if you talking to him listening. If you get embarrassed or shy about rambling too much he’ll gently remind you that he enjoyed hearing your voice - a good distraction from Zaun problems.
From time to time, you find a bowl of specific type of fruits you love the most or maybe even your favourite dessert. Though if you ask him directly, he refuses to acknowledge any contribution from his part.
Scar - searching for constellations
As a chirean, Scar grew up knowing close to nothing about stars, constellations or astronomical stuff in general.
You on the other hand enjoyed star watching and knew thing or two from books your elderly relatives have showed you when you were still a child. Not forgetting and sharing a little bit of this knowledge brought you warm memories.
It all started with you spending all the free time you could master in the hospital wing - painting walls with a special glow-in-the-dark paint. Sick kids and injured firelights stuck there liked the stories you’ve told them while painting as well as the legends of different constellations you've remembered from your childhood. A few times the vastaya dropped by. And even though he argument his visits with his daughter being easier to handle when she heard you voice and stories, you hoped that he enjoyed them as well.
One evening, after you were not needed anywhere and most of the firelights got relaxed around the Sanctuary, he mentioned you to follow him and get on his board.
Any time spend with your favourite vastaya was precious to you though the last thing you’ve expected was to actually get on the roofs of the Zaun highest buildings not far from the home. Especially for stargazing.
Nevertheless, soon enough you’ve found yourself tucked into the man’s embrace from behind, covered with some blanket, he fished out of his bag with a thermos flask filled with hot tea. And after a while you were animatedly retelling the stories of the stars while the chirean basked in your closeness.
Ekko - watching the sunrise
Ekko is a busy man, as are you and the most of the Sanctuary adults. So there isn’t much time for dates, no money. Mostly it’s small hugs here and there, good luck kisses before the mission, soft touches on-the-way and cuddling each other to sleep.
Though from time to time, after the successful raid you two get on the highest rooftop near the Home-Tree to spend some time alone.
Just like now, you’ve just returned from the mission, the adrenaline is still pumping in your blood veins and it’s impossible to try sleeping right away. Others are either in their rooms licking up the scratches or chatting quietly in the roots of the tree. No losses tonight so the mood is light.
So you two climb to the top of the Tree to hide from the prying eyes and cuddle into each others sides while facing the horizon and enjoying the last rays of the setting sun as well as the bits of warmth before the night chill fills the city.
I think this might be the last or second to last. We will see when I finish this bit.

///You///
You weren't ashamed that whatever happened, it turned you on and some alone time was...necessary. Even if you weren't in your own bed.
It also helped you relieve the stress you were feeling, and you were able to fall asleep, Scar's lumen gently running over your skin in a comforting brush.
Since there were no windows, you didn't know what time it was when you woke up, just that you could hear kids laughing somewhere and the whirling of those boards.
Groaning and stretching all the soreness from your body, your back arching off the bed, you felt a tickle against the skin that was exposed and you giggled.
"Good morning." You said groggily, holding out your hand to the lumen, letting it go up your arm and into your hair. It was a slow movement, as if it was also tired. "Did he not sleep well?"
A knock on the door made you sit up and cup the lumen against your chest, your eyes glued to the door. "Yes?"
The door cracked open slightly and the light flooded the little room. A young girl poked her head in, her eyes wide as she looked at you.
"Hi?" You swung your feet over the side of the bed and stood up slowlly.
She opened the door a bit more and you saw she had some food in her hands. Thank Janna, you were starving. "Hi..." She was unsure of you but that was fair. You were a stranger.
The girl went to the little table by the bed and set the food down and then stood there, shyly looking at the lumen in your hair. "I-is that a lumen?"
Scar's lumen left your hair and floated towards the girl, spinning around her head, making her laugh. That was cute.
"Yeah, it is." You sat back down and watched the lumen tease the girl, playing with her.
"I like the little ears." She giggled, tilting her head as it went back to you.
You let it settle in your hands and you pet one of the ears. "Me too."
The girl sat on her ankles in front of you, peaking at the lumen. "Is it Scar's?"
Well, the ears probably gave it away; Scar also had a lumen following him around. "Yeah, it is."
Her eyes lit up and she almost bounced on her knees. "Really?"
This kid was really cute. She couldn't be more than 8. "Yeah, doesn't it look like him?" You held your hand out and giggled as it bounced in your hands. It was putting on a show for the girl.
"Are you gonna live here then?" She scooted closer to you, leaning forward on her hands, eager for your answer.
You had made up your mind but saying out loud felt so final. So official. "I think so." You bit your lip. "You think I'll fit in?"
"Everyone has a place here. Even those who do silly things." The girl stood up and behind her you saw Ekko leaning against the door way.
That was sneaky. Maybe he felt you could talk to the girl more easily? Feel more comfortable?
"So, is that your final decision?" He was analyzing you with his eyes, his face not as soft as it was yesterday. He wasn't playing around.
Inhaling, you stood up and squared your shoulders, Scar's lumen puffing up slightly to look bigger. Your little defender. "Yeah, it is."
///Scar///
He didn't mind the kids, he really didn't. But did they always have to come running in at the break of dawn to jump on him and ask him to play?
After he left your door, he went to his bed and replayed how you had said his name over and over. That airy moan, the few pants. It had his body burning. He had to leave that door before he busted it down.
Now he was worried that you were leaving but instead of pacing a hole in his floor, he punched his enforcer dummy outside where they practiced their skills.
Your lumen stayed in his collar, the light simmering still and every now and then he'd feel a kiss. You were an affectionate little thing.
"Hey."
He turned and saw Ekko, watching him. He nodded, going back to vigorously beating the shit out of the dummy. What he wouldn't do to punch a real enforcer.
"So I just talked to y/n."
He stopped and dropped his fists. You were leaving, weren't you? Would you even let him say goodbye? Would you let him write you?
"Looks like you'll need a bigger hut. Y/N decided to stay."
Scar spun on his heels and sent a glare at Ekko. Sweet Janna, he was gonna throat punch Ekko. He could have led with that.
Ekko chuckled and waved as he turned. "Come on. Y/N wants to talk to you."
This was it. Finally. Many emotions filled him as he followed Ekko towards the mural, wondering what you would say. Your lumen floated ahead and met his halfway, the two circling each other. Yours was much smaller than his, but his was not even half as bright as yours. His little firelight.
Your back was to them as they approached, your head tilted back as you looked up at the faces on the mural. Did you know any of them?
"I'll leave you two alone. Come find me when you're done. We'll flesh some things out." Ekko patted Scar's shoulder. "Good luck, man." He whispered before walking off, taking some of the kids who were watching with him.
Fuck, he needed it.
Taking a deep breath, he walked forward, watching your back as he did. The lumens kept dancing around one another, occasionally bumping into each other playfully.
Well, here goes nothing. "Hey."
///You///
The tree was remarkable, and you fell in love with the Firelight base as soon as Ekko led you out of the dark little room. It was like a little piece of heaven to you.
The first place Ekko took you to was the mural, showing you what this place had cost. A couple of the faces you swore you had seen before, but no one you knew personally. All the little handprints on the bottom from the kids ripped your heart open. It reminded you of your own childhood as well.
"I...I wanna talk to him." You turned towards Ekko. "We've barely even looked at each other since I got here." You got off while thinking about him last night, lumen skimming your skin and pressing against you- he was doing the exact same thing. He wanted you. You just needed to hear it for yourself.
Ekko inhaled and looked up at the mural. "Before I go get him, I'm gonna say this as his friend: don't hurt him. He's a good guy and he works hard to help keep this place safe. Please, be good to him."
That was sweet, that Scar had people who were willing to protect him. It made you a little jealous, but maybe in time, the others would warm up to you. "I will."
The wait was hard, because you had a million questions and worries. Thoughts raced around in your mind and your heart pounded and you found yourself studying the faces on the mural to distract yourself. What were their names and stories? The little girl with the blue hair looked a lot like the Jinx girl who shot at you when you ran for someone on the other side a while back.
"Hey."
Was that his voice? It awoke something in your chest. When you turned you saw Scar standing there, fists closing and opening, giving away his nervousness.
"Hi." You rubbed your arm and let out a deep breath. What did you do? What was the protocol on this kind of thing? "Look, I'm sorry for yesterday-"
He held up his hand to stop you and came a bit closer shaking his head slowly. You didn't expect him to say much since chireans didn't really talk. "Still, it was a shitty way to meet you." You shrugged. He smiled and it sounded like he was chuckling. He had a really deep voice...
He nodded and looked behind you at the mural before looking down at you. "You're staying?"
He was really talking to you? You gave him a shy smile as you shrugged your shoulders, taking a few steps forward. "Yeah, I am."
His eyes lit up and his lips spread in a smile. You could feel your heart melting. This man was really made for you, meant to be with you for life. "Good."
The lumens flashed brightly and nuzzled one another again and you laughed gently. It was a sweet moment. Taking a step forward you wrapped your arms around his middle and rested your head on his chest. Something in you seemed to say finally as you did and all the tension left your body.
He didn't wrap his arms around you immediately and it was probably you surprised him, but when you felt his arms slipped around your shoulders and his hand rested on your back, a sigh left your lips. You weren't alone anymore. You had him.
-At first he was weary of you, especially around his baby girl (protective father moment)
-After a while he eventually trusted you and well...fell in love with you.
-Physical touch is his love language to you, small things such as: Forehead kisses, playing with your hair, resting his head atop of yours.
-He loves seeing you with his daughter (if y'all know her name please tell me), it sparks joy in his heart.
-Quality time with eachother includes: reading together in silence, resting at the trunk of the tree watching the kids play, cuddling from late at night to the early mornings.
-He couldn't count the amount of times you two have fallen asleep on eachother while holding his daughter.
-He wants to protect you at all costs (he cant have his daughter lose another mom)
-Gifts you with little flowers or old books he found.
-Now we know he doesn't talk alot but after a few months dating, he eventually starts talking a tiny bit more. (It will take him a while)
-Always has his arm around your shoulders or your waist.
-Scar loves waking up next to you...he sees you as a gift from heaven...an angel, his angel.
-He tries to do everything he can to give his family a better life.
-The kids tease him about being in loveeee all the time...(even some of them asking if there's gonna be another baby soon 👀)
-Scar holds on to you for dear life when sleeping...he doesn't want to let go and have you disappear, even after many attempts in telling him you aren't going anywhere.
-If you two get married I can see a cute little wedding in the firelights base...
-You two truely love eachother and I couldnt see it any other way.
I love how I made Scar's lumen like 'on sight mf, don't even look at my soul mate' and Scar is just like, 'if I show affection, I will explode.' lol
As I have said before, lumen au was created by the wonderful @meliapis and I used some of @vastaya-simp's head canons about Scar's lumen.
Gets a little NSFW because reader is curious.
///You///
The little mirror, the one you kept in your pocket to see around corners, came in handy when you were trying to see your surroundings from under the door.
From the looks of it, there was a tree outside and you could see the boy Ekko standing there, talking to Scar. The words were muffled and you tried to listen by pressing your ear to the door, but you couldn't hear anything.
Grunting in frustration, you sat on the floor and leaned against the door, resting your elbows on your knees, fingers scratching your scalp. This was all a bunch of bullshit. You knew this job would end up in disaster and yet you took it anyway.
Now your soul mate thought you were some drug mule who didn't give a shit about the harm that was being caused. And you could tell he wanted to talk to you, spend time with you, but now he was conflicted and confused about you.
Even his lumen seemed a bit more reserved than usual and instead of hanging around your hair and neck, was settling on the floor next to you, little ears back like a displeased cat.
"Come on little guy, don't be like that." You pet behind one of its ears. "It'll be okay." You tried to pick it up but it just flitted out of your hand and back down to the floor next to you. It would stay with you but it was not in a cuddly mood. You sighed and hugged your knees.
"Look, I'm sorry, you were right." It had tried to stop you from picking up the package. "But I thought the money would be worth it." That didn't make it better, instead it seemed to turn its back on you, doing that pout. "Hey now!"
You scooped it up again and pressed a kiss between the little ears, holding it close. "I'm sorry." You whispered, stroking one of the ears. It shook like it was tickled and you chuckled softly. "See, you can't be mad at me forever." Plus, you needed to the comfort, to know that no matter what, you had the lumen. "You think we'll get along? You and I do."
It slowly floated to its spot in your hair, nuzzling your neck. "He's good looking at least." There had to be a silver lining to all of this. You just didn't know what it was.
///Scar///
When he left the room, he had to lock you in and the conflict that caused made him sick to his stomach. He was basically keeping you prisoner.
Your lumen was pressed against his throat and the light was very dim. This was distressing and no matter how many times he tried to comfort it, it would just hide and press into his neck.
Ekko leaned against the rail and let out a long breath from his nostrils, pursing his lips. "I can tell you're not okay." He looked at Scar.
The chirean shook his head and ran the claws through his hair. No, he wasn't. This was not the meeting he had hoped for and by the looks of your lumen, you were distressed about it as well. Was he disappointed? A little, but not enough to reject you.
"At least your soul mate is pretty?" Ekko tried to lighten the mood.
Yeah, you were. Even your flaws were pretty. But that wasn't the most important part. He felt a kiss press against his face and he ran his hand over it, as if trying to preserve the feeling. You seemed to like kissing on that lumen, holding it and cuddling it; Scar felt it all the time and he wondered if you felt it when he could pet your lumen. It made his lip curl up in a small smile.
"Well, it is up to 'em now. All we can do is wait till morning." Ekko put a hand on Scar's shoulder. "Wanna drink?"
Oh, did he ever.
///You///
What were you going to do? Joining the Firelights didn't seem so bad but then you'd have to leave everything you had behind and you had worked so hard for it.
But-
If you left, you had to leave the city and everything you had, still. And Scar. Did you have to be with him? Probably not but why wouldn't you want to be? You were made for each other. Literally.
That option just seemed stupid when you laid it out like that. But so did being some vigilante who pissed off the most powerful man in Zaun.
But you'd have Scar.
This was stupid. There was an obvious answer and you had to stop trying to convince yourself otherwise. It had just been you all along, how did you start being a part of something outside of yourself?
Scar's lumen was done with its pouting, and you could feel it skim over your skin, the light touch making you shiver. You noticed how it swayed a bit instead of its usual intentional paths. It never just zigs zagged or wandered around without purpose.
"Scar?" You whispered, knowing he probably couldn't hear you, but you giggled as the lumen tickled your ears and you felt a warm sensation down your spine, like fingers running over your skin.
Was he...touching your lumen? Was that why you always felt like you were being held or lips on your neck? Did he feel it when you touched his lumen?
You never learned too much about lumens other than what Clara had told you that one time. Just that they belonged to your soul mate and to take care of it.
Smirking mischievously, you took the lumen in your hands and walked towards the bed in the corner and sat curled around the lumen, swallowing thickly. Carefully, you pressed your thumb against the lumen and stroked it sensuously, biting your lip when it shivered. What were you even doing to it and what was he feeling?
Licking your bottom lip, you leaned closer and licked behind its ears, tickling the other. The light brightened and it looked like a fire, the way it flickered.
Suddenly, the feeling against your skin was hot and it was intense. You covered your mouth as you tried to stop yourself from crying out. It was like a hand was snaking its way down your belly, in between your legs and cupping your most intimate parts.
Yeah, he probably felt the teasing you did to his lumen.
///Scar///
Hanging out in Ekko's workspace at the top of the tree, drinking with his friend had seemed like a good idea. Going through the scraps, listening to Ekko bitch about something that he made and how it wasn't working.
And then your lumen began to tickle his ears again, getting all cuddly and he nuzzled it, holding it close. And he felt it. Warm fingers trailing over his chest and down his abdomen. He stumbled, knocking over some parts that clattered on the floor, making Ekko turn around and stare at his friend.
"Are you messed up already?" Ekko laughed and helped Scar sit down.
Not from the alcohol, he wasn't. It took way more than that to get him drunk.
When he felt a tongue run up his neck and behind his ear, he lost it and all but ran out of the Ekko's work room, his leader watching him with confusion as Scar about tripped on the doorway.
When he got outside, he sat on the stairs, leaning forward and trying to regain his composure. Holy shit, you were messing around with the lumen and he could feel it. He hadn't been touched in such a long time that the effect was immediate.
Your little lumen flittered around, the bright light back but the way it was shining was different. He couldn't exactly place how though. He let it float down into his hands and nuzzle his palm and carefully, he ran a large finger over the lumen, delighted as it flashed brightly and pressed into his hand harder.
Should he go down and see you? No, no, he wasn't drunk, but he certainly would make a fool of himself if he went waltzing in like this.
Maybe it was best if he went back to his little hut and just relief himself before he did anything stupid.
Like sit by your door.
He felt like a fool, sitting there, wishing he could open the door and just see you. Maybe he could convince you to stay, be a Firelight? No, Ekko said this had to be your decision and he was right, of course. But what if you left? What would he do if you denied him and left Zaun like you said?
He rubbed his face and your lumen skimmed over his jaw like it was giving him light kisses, resting against his neck. If you knew he wanted you to stay, to be with you. He had wanted you since your lumen appeared, even though he had never met you till now.
His ear twitched when he heard an airy moan and sigh through the door and he smirked as he heard you whisper his name.
Also don't know the Bird mask girl name, if there is an official info - comment))
Also, I am writing the asks you've send me, sorry it takes so much time…
It all started when you helped some injured vigilantes in the masks by warding off the enforcers and distracting them.
You actually were really spoked when the masked man almost fell on you in the backyard from the roof of the store you were working in. And by the shouts of the Piltovers police he as well as his friend who jumped in between you two they both were not exactly popular in the city. Though you heard of them.
Firelights or something.
People who apparently were hated by both citizens of Piltover (if they at least cared about something else apart from their entertainment) and shimmer addicts of the Undercuty. And, by the looks of people on your tiny backyard, seriously injured, cornered and ready to fight with teeth and claws.
“Not the worst day” as Jenna, the girl with the bird beak like mask joked later when you led them both into the backroom to hide from the prying eyes of the colleagues to dress wounds.
Ekko, the one who almost fell on you, refused to show his face just granted in agreement.
Both of the firelights were really tired and on edge, that especially showed after you got the enforces of the front of the store, swearing on your own grave to tell them if the “nasty Zaun rats” will appear, and returned only to almost get kicked in the face by Jenna, whom logically assumed you went to fetch the enforcers.
This bizarre encounter ended up with you getting them first aid, shooing out of the back window and getting an earful from your boss for taking long unplanned break.
“If you need something and I can get it, I want to help, really.” That’s what you've said to them on their way out.
“What’s the catch, Piltie?”
“Non, I guess?”
“you don’t sound so sure
After that accident you haven’t heard anything from the firelights for a week and at this point you thought that it might be only for your uneventful life - their appearance in your store. And you assumed they didn’t take your offer seriously or that there was no catch.
That day it was your turn to open the store with Mirta, one of the coworkers. She was busy getting the front of the store presentable as you were managing the cashier, when the girl called out: — hey, look! it has your name on it!
You lifted your head from the accounting book. Mirta was holding up a scrap of paper.
— “Y/N. It’s Ekko. I wanna get on you about that favour offer earlier”….HEY! — you almost ripped the note from her. — Hey! I wanna know!
— Non of your business!
— I am obliged to know, as your work bestie! Is it a secret admirer? — Mirta almost got onto your face with the excitement sparkling a little bit too much in her eyes, as the devilish smirk appeared.
— Mirta, it literally says their name in the first sentence…
— Touché. But…
The doorbell brought both of your attention to the first customer. Your colleague put on her best friend expression, while you cramped the note quickly in your working apron and went to finish preparation. This could wait. Though your heart pounded in the ribcage with delight.

Being held by your soul mate, who's face you had not even seen yet, while flying on a hover board to some unknown location was the most overwhelming and possibly scariest thing you had ever experienced. It also didn't help that he was super tall and his arms were about the same circumference of your head. And the claws were digging into your thigh.
Other than picking you up, he hadn't said anything or even checked on you to see if you were okay. This was so strange. Was he angry about this? What was going on?
Your little friend was snug against your neck, feeling your fear and anxiety, trying to calm you. Your hands wrapped around it gently and you pressed your cheek to it. Why did it have to happen like this?
What was going to happen now? The leader seemed to be the owl masked one, but they didn't offer any answers whenever you asked. Just that you couldn't see where they were going and that if you didn't fight back, everything would be fine.
All you knew is that you were flying and the next, the momentum stopped and you were set down, but a large hand stayed on your shoulder, guiding you. By the sounds, you were walking down a large pipe and the sounds of the other's footsteps behind you ricocheted off the walls.
You reached up and felt the hand that was on your shoulder and you concluded that it was indeed your soul mate. The sharp nails gave it away, but when you touched his hand, his fingers twitched, like he wanted to take your hand or something.
When you felt the hand leave your shoulder, you felt around but no one was around you. A metallic grinding noise stopped you, along with some deep grunting. Something was opening.
///Scar///
Holding you close to him, even as frightened as you were, made his heart just roar in his chest. He kept reminding himself to not hold you too tightly or to watch the claws. Having you so close to him made him feel warm.
Your lumen, however, was dimmer than usual and didn't even try to leave his collar this time. It was very unhappy and by the looks of it, so were you.
He did feel relief when he set you down, only because if he held you any longer, he was going to combust. You set him on fire whenever you wrapped your arms around his neck, your grip tightening when he went faster of banked around something.
He couldn't believe you were finally here, with him.
Instead of letting you stumble around in the dark, he placed his hand on your shoulder and guided you. Your hand reached up and felt over his with feather light touches and he clenched his teeth as he held back the urge to take your hand. Last thing he wanted to do was scare you off.
He had to open the door, since he was the only one strong enough, and his hand left you. Again, it made his heart jump when you felt around for him.
One of his comrades to you to walk forward as he pushed the metal door out of the way and it was cute how you held your hands out to make sure you weren't going to bump into anything.
In this light, he could see the true color of your hair, how red and swollen your bottom lip was from biting it nervously. That one made him feel certain feelings...
///You///
"Just walk forward. You won't run into anything." Someone said behind you and your head turned towards the voice.
Doing as instructed, hands out in front of you to make sure you actually didn't run into anything. The air was...cleaner? You could hear lots of whirling, the same kind the hover boards made, and children laughing. Someone took your arm and stopped you, the metallic sound and grunting resuming behind you.
The lumen seemed annoyed by someone taking your arm and left it's spot to run down your arm, bumping into the hand on you.
"Alright, Janna. Possessive."
Well, yeah. It had been you and the lumen for many years. It never liked people touching you. It pouted when you hugged your friends, even though you'd cuddle it right after.
Then you were being led up somewhere. Going up stairs blind folded was jarring, but some how you managed it with only hitting your shin twice.
You heard a door open and then the large hand returned to your shoulder and led you to what you assumed was a chair and was happy to find that it was, indeed, one. With out being told, you sat down and wrung your hands nervously. You had to get out of the city before your client found out you had been caught.
"Give me your wrists." Someone said.
"What?" You almost jumped out of the chair, but the hand on your shoulder kept you down. "I followed your rules!"
"This is for everyone's safety. Either give me your wrists or we will do it for you."
You couldn't believe how stupid you were. You had followed them right into their den and now you were at their mercy. But you wanted to meet your soul mate, so you could look him in the eye and tell him he was an asshole for doing this to you.
Sighing, you held out your wrists and gently they were put behind your back and chained. This day was getting worse and worse.
"Whoa! Hey!" Someone stumbled. "Man, this thing really hates people getting close." The lumen must've been acting up.
"Yeah, maybe because you're chaining me up?" You shrugged and hit the floor with your foot. "Are you gonna keep me blind folded?"
That prompted someone to take the blind fold off and you blinked at the sudden light, your eyes stinging. It wasn't even that bright in the room you were in, but everything had been pitch black under the blind fold.
In front of you was a boy in the same jacket that the owl masked one had been wearing. On his face was a painting of an hour glass and though he had a mean face on, you could tell he was just as confused as you were. Beside him was the tall man, mask still on, just looming there. You inhaled, annoyed.
The lumen hid in your hair, but the light was simmering, like it was angry.
The boy walked forward and held up the package. "You know what was in here?"
Ah, yeah, they wanted to interrogate you. "No, I would be very bad at my job if I did." They set the tone, so you would meet it. This was all bullshit.
"You don't even check to see what you're running with?" The boy asked incredulously, a brow raising and eyes narrowing. "So you don't care that you're moving shimmer around?"
You pursed your lips. "I mean, I guess? I dont do it on purpose but I don't go hungry any more and ignorance is bliss." That wasn't really true. Shimmer stole so much from you, you hated it. Spreading it wasn't your intention.
The boy scoffed and opened the package, revealing the vials of shimmer. "That's disappointing to hear." And you could see that he was genuinely disappointed. Your soul mate also let out an unpleased growl.
"Well, so is finding your soul mate in a dark ass tunnel and then being forced somewhere, blind folded, and tied to a chair. We can't all win." You leaned back and crossed your legs, giving the said man a short glare.
Still, it ate at you that your soul mate was upset with this information. Even if you were angry with him, it just didn't sit right. "Look-" You tilted your head back. "I didn't know I was moving it. I don't look because if I did, it would endanger my life even more than getting caught." You set your leg down and leaned forward. "If I knew what was in there, I would have smashed it. But part of my job is not knowing what I have, because that is not my business."
"It makes you an accomplice. Willingly or not." The boy snapped, his brows knitted together. "Another cog in the machine that is poisoning people."
He was right, most definitely, but he also was forgetting that for people like you, there were limited options. "Yeah, well, I didn't want to end up in a brothel, working directly for the chembarons, or manufacturing the shit. Those were my options verses starving in the streets." The lumen left your hair and again pressed against your cheek, trying to comfort you.
The boy looked at your soul mate, his face still hard, but his eyes had softened. "We all have choices." The boy put the vial back.
"Yeah? Well, what now? I'm never getting another job and if I stay here in Zaun I am dead." You shrugged. "Either way, I can't stay."
That caught the attention of your soul mate and your lumen left his collar, tucking itself under his chin. You looked away. You could feel the warmth of him, the safety, even though you personally, did not feel very safe in the moment.
"You'd leave?" The smaller boy asked. "You found your soul mate and you'd leave?"
You slumped in the chair, looking at the floor. It wasn'twhat you wanted, but you weren'tready to die. "It's that or die. So, what is your choice, little man?" He seemed almost put off that you called him that. "My life is now in your hands."
///Scar///
Yeah, pissed was an understatement about how he felt, but when you brought up the brothels, it just made him angrier. Imagining you there made his blood boil. Still, to think that you would move shimmer around and be so nonchalant about it angered him. Did you not understand what it had done to this city? To top it off, you were angry at him.
"My life is now in your hands." That hit him so deeply. So your options were to leave, leave him, or face the wrath of those you had failed? To him that was unacceptable. He looked at Ekko, wondering what he would do next, because Scar was not going to let you walk out that door to your death just because he had caught you.
"Well, lucky for you, no one but a select few know of this place and you have a set of skills that are very useful." Ekko crossed his arms. "I am sure by now you can guess who we are."
Your knee bounced, lips still pursed. "Yeah, I've heard in passing. Some vigilante group?"
"Close, but not exactly." Ekko shrugged and Scar walked behind him, keeping his eyes on you. He could feel the warmth of your cheek when his lumen pressed against it. The way you nuzzled it...
Yours however, would not leave his neck, as if clinging to him in desperation. It made sense, you were in a bad position right now. Scar felt guilt and anger at himself. Did he really have to catch you? Yes, you had shimmer. He couldn't let that spread to other places, to ruin more lives. But why was it him and not one of the others?
"We are trying to stop the hurt Silco is causing. Aiding those who are and were his victims. Hence-" Ekko held up the package. "Stopping you today."
You didn't say anything but he could tell you were thinking. Ekko must've noticed it too. "We'll unchained you, but until we know who's side you're on, it's best if you stay in this room."
"I don't even know who you are." You said as Scar went to undo your chains.
Ekko watched as you rubbed your wrists as soon as they were free. "Ekko." He nodded towards Scar, who moved back to his side, looking down at you through the mask. He was almost afraid to take it off. What would you think of him? "And this giant is Scar. Or lover boy." Ekko quipped at him and Scar grunted, hitting him with his elbow.
"You can't even tell me your own name?" You were so mad at him, at this whole situation. He was too but for different reasons. "And so you not want me to see your face? What is your problem?"
Ekko looked up at him and shrugged. Scar knew he agreed with them. "To be fair, we don't know your name either."
Your lips pressed together tightly and your eyes bore into him. He wasn't getting your name until he at least looked you in the eyes. Fair enough.
Reaching up, he undid the clasp of his mask and slowly took it off, letting it hang from his hand at his side. Now you could see him.
///You///
What you expected, you didn't know, but a fierce looking chirean was nothing you ever imagined. The ears on his lumen now made sense. His green eyes just stared into you, as if he could see everything about you, laid bare before him. You could see his hands flexing open and shut, revealing that he too, was nervous.
And... he was beautiful. You weren't even angry anymore.
Ekko cleared his throat and you turned bright red. You had been staring with your mouth open. You wish you could evaporate. "So, your name?"
"(Y/N)." You muttered, Scar's lumen fluttering down to your hands.
"Think on it. You can stay here for the night." Ekko gave Scar a look before walking out the door, leaving the two of you alone.
Your eyes skimmed the floor towards his direction and you could feel his eyes on you. Those very intense eyes.
He walked towards you and you looked up to see him staring down at you, eyes flickering over your face and briefly met your eyes.
It didn't last long though before he broke the eye contact while Scar rubbed his neck and also left, but not before looking back at you with confusion. He wasn't the only one.
Yeah, so I found the lumen au from @meliapis and I also saw this and was like, yeah, bet my dudes. @maraozdrawsfanart for you buddy🎁@vastaya-simp I was inspired by some of your head cannons, hope you don't mind.

Part 1 of ?
///You///
You were 13 when the ball of dark purple and blue light appeared, floating around your head as if curious about it's new friend. None of the other kids you hung around knew what it was and you had no parents to guide you. Shimmer had stolen them, like most of the children on the streets.
The light should have frightened you, made you wary, but it had a calming affect on you. It was also really cute, with little ears like a bat. And you didn't have to feed it, so it didn't trouble you. All it did was follow you, hide in your hair and chase after those who even looked at you funny.
You found work as a runner for the brothels and other establishments, earning meals and a safe place to sleep. Some of the workers took pity on you, buying you clothes, letting you use their personal baths to clean up. Smelly children drove clients away.
One of the workers, a woman named Clara, took notice of the little ball of light and cooed loudly. "Oh look at that, a lumen! You have a soul mate!"
In confusion, you held your little 'friend' in your hands and tilted your head. "A what?"
She laughed, waving her cigarette around with the movements of her hands, making the smoke waft into your face. "My sweet little petal. A lumen! It means out there in this cold, awful world is someone waiting for you." In a softer and kinder tone, she added: "And hold it close. You don't know how lucky you are."
And that was all the information you got about it and it was overwhelming to a 13 year old from the streets of Zaun. A soulmate sounded bigger than life at this age and what if you never found them? What if they didn't like you? What if they died before you met them? Would you lose your little friend too? Oh...what if they were a Piltie? You shivered. Pompous gilded vipers.
Cradling the lumen to your chest, you made a quiet promise that you would protect it.
///Scar///
His didn't appear until much later and your lumen was bright. At least at first. It almost shimmered as it ran over his arms, his hands, his ears. It liked to stay very close to him, which he never minded, but you seemed to be very touchy. He always felt like he was being held or kissed on.
When it first appeared, it was night time and he had been sitting with Ekko up in the tree, listening to him make plans about raiding some warehouse for food. If the smaller boy hadn't been there, he would have fallen to his death.
"Whoa, shit man! Is that what I think it is?" Ekko steadied him, slowly letting him go after he made sure Scar wasn't going to fall out of the tree.
It was, it really was. He wasn't mad or scared, not even annoyed. But he was shocked. He had a soul mate? And it was only now appearing?
"Well?" Ekko gave him a look. "Come on man, say or do something!" This was a big deal and so special. Ekko would have been elated to get his own.
"Bright." Was all Scar said, blinking a couple times, moving his head away as you lumen tickled his ears.
"Isn't that a good thing?" Ekko watched as it inspected Scar and then him, but it wasn't as interested in Ekko. Obviously.
Scar shrugged and sighed as the lumen ran head first into a firelight, knocking the poor thing back and the bug out of the sky. Well, at least he wouldn't be bored.
The kids in the hide out loved your lumen and it let them chase it around, but was never too far from Scar. Every now and then it would return to him and the light would flutter, as if communicating with him. What was he supposed to do with it? Talk to it? He really had no idea.
But then one night, the light faded, very quickly and it laid on his pillow, unmoving. Scar feared the worst and ran for Ekko, unsure of who else to turn to.
Ekko rubbed the sleep from his eyes and bent down, looking at it. "Maybe they're hurt?" He looked up at Scar and regretted saying that immediately. It made the tall chirean pace. "Well, do you even interact with it?"
"How?" Scar wanted to know. What was he supposed to do with this little ball of bright light that followed him everywhere and teased his ears?
Ekko sighed and hung his head. That was what the problem was. "Dude, you have act like you want it. You can touch it, hold it, talk to it." He held his hands out towards the lumen. "It looks depressed."
Scar scratched his head and gave Ekko a puzzling look, but he didn't argue with him. Gently, he scooped up the lumen and cradled it in his large hands and he suddenly became nervous that he might crush it. As soon as he made contact with it, the light flickered a bit brighter.
"See, it just wanted you." Ekko yawned and playfully smacked Scar's arm. "Now don't wake me up again." And then his friend drug himself back to his bed.
Scar just sat on the bed, the lumen in his hands, flickering a bit brighter and brighter slowly. Like he was petting a kitten, he gently stroked the lumen and it spun almost like it was happy. Uh. So all he had to show it affection? Or just acknowledge it? No one had really told him about that. Just what a lumen meant.
He wasn't a very sappy guy, but the fact the lumen wanted his attention so bad kind of made him melt a bit. Laying down and getting comfortable, all while cradling your lumen, he took a deep breath and placed it under his chin, safely tucking it. The lumen nuzzled against him and he chuckled softly. "Good night, my firelight." He whispered to it, but really, he hoped you could hear it too.
///You///
Your little friend loved your hair and would hide in it often, but it had a really good hiding place in your hooded vest. When you got older, you turned to actual running. Which meant that you smuggled packages from drop point A to drop point B. Nothing more or less.
You had to be fast, smart, and sly and getting caught was not an option. For an even further amount of security, you wore a mask and different clothes while you worked. No one knew what you did but you had a comfortable life, at least, for a Zaunite.
The lumen was very handy in certain situations and it became a partner of sorts. You even knew what certain flickering meant. Fast- danger. Slow- coast is clear. X amount of rapid blinks- how many enforcers. Thanks to your little friend, you managed to stay out of trouble. It made you really good at what you did.
The want to leave Zaun and Piltover before it exploded was a drive to save so much of your money and live under your means, but something also told you not leave. That you had to stay here. Maybe it was the lumen and the way it seemed to almost pout when you put the money away or look at maps of where you could go.
You just couldn't leave when you had the chance. So you'd take more jobs and while you never knew what were in the packages (you'd be stupid to look), you knew your work was going to get you into some kind of trouble one day.
But the other choices of work were not any better. Brothels, mercs, or shimmer; that was all that was left in this forsaken city. You did what you could without being too much on the radar. However, someone was hiring your service to smuggle things for a Piltie scientist or that was what you assumed. You never saw your clients.
The lumen didn't like this job at all and tried to push your hand away when you reached for the package, whirling around and trying to lead you away.
"Come on, stop that. If we don't get moving, we'll draw attention." You softly grabbed it and tucked it into its usual spot in your hood and made sure your mask was still on. The strap was starting to wear out and you'd have to replace it soon.
It stopped but you could almost feel the pouting. "Yeah, well, the pay is good." You muttered and tucked the package into your pack and then climbed up the pipe towards the roof tops. Got to be fast, you had a short window before the enforcers would be patrolling by the other drop point.
"Hang on my little love." You sniffed before taking off in a full sprint, going roof to roof, scaling buildings, dropping into alleys, staying out of sight and mind. You had to stop a couple times, as you swore you heard some sort of whirling around you, but when you would look, nothing was there. No, you were being followed, you could feel it.
"Oh, shit." You breathed, panting, looking around. Out of the corner of your eye you could see streaks of green, like lights flashing in a blink of an eye. You felt your lumen press against your neck and your hand went instinctively to your neck, cradling it. "No, no. Stay in there. I got this." You whispered, taking off again. You had your ways.
///Scar///
Your lumen was tucked away in his collar safely, but it didn't seem to want to be there at this very moment, when he need it to be the most.
This runner was moving shimmer, a fair amount of it. It didn't matter if they knew it or not, it had to be stopped.
Ekko, Scar, and a couple of the others had set up the runner after watching the drop points for months now. It had been a very well thought out and meticulous plan on Ekko's part, since this runner was incredibly good at their job.
Once again, the lumen tried to leave the collar and carefully he clapped his hand over it, growling a warning. No. No, stop. It was going to blow their cover and he gritted his teeth. Maybe he should have stayed behind.
Ekko gave the signal and made the first swoop in, effectively tripping the runner with a swipe to the legs. They weren't down for long. And man, they were really fast.
A good roll and they were dropping down into a tight alley, running towards some old tunnels that had once been used as some black market, before the enforcers shut it down.
"Cut them off!" Ekko's distorted voice called out and the others went in, trails of lime green following them.
Gripping his spear, Scar broke off from the rest, knowing there was a man hole that dropped right down in the path of this runner. He could get them and stop the delivery.
As soon as the man hole appeared, he jumped off his board and slid to a stop, grabbing it from the air, and used the spear to pry the lid up, tossing it out of the way. With his sensitive hearing, he could hear the echoes of boots running in the tunnels, followed by the whirling of hover boards. Quickly he jumped down and stalked forward a bit, smirking under his mask as the sounds got closer and closer.
He must've looked so terrifying in the dim light, with that mask, the metal claws, his lumbering height, because the runner skid to a stop and almost fell over themselves, cursing.
They weren't very big, but they were quick. Scar knew better than to underestimate what they could do. The lumen against his neck again struggled, making him growl menacingly, the sound vibrating through the tunnel.
///You///
Shit, shit, shit!
No matter how many twists, tricks, and turns you made, they seemed to be right on your heels and then there was the big one- mask like a skeletal bat or rat, tall and that spear in a clawed hand-Janna help you.
When you stopped, you almost fell forward, catching yourself barely and you froze in place, keeping your eyes on this terrifying figure. That look was purposeful and you were almost impressed, if it wasn't you that it was being used against. The growl they let out even frightened you more.
"Stop!" You almost turned around, but fear of taking your eyes off the big one stopped you. The lumen in your hood edged forward and you blocked it from leaving. No, if it came out, you could lose it.
Taking off the satchel, you tossed it at the masked figure behind you, keeping both them and the big one in your sights. "You can have it, just let me go!" You'd have to leave, immediately. The client could send someone after you, your reputation would be tarnished. You had enough money.
The owl masked figure walked forward and snatched the satchel, watching you for a moment before backing away while opening the satchel and inspecting the package.
"Who are you people?" You looked at all the masks, the paint covered clothes, the amazing boards they rode on.
No one answered you and it made you even more unnerved. But panic rose as your little friend escaped and flew out of your hood, flashing bright.
"No!" You shouted and tried to catch it but it flew towards the large figure, who was also struggling with something in his hands.
"Wait!" The owl mask shouted, dropping the satchel and walking towards both you and the big one. "Let it go!"
They looked up at the owl mask and then at you, confused when the purple and blue lumen began to circle their hands. No, wait, what did that mean? You didn't understand what these blinks meant.
"Let it go." Owl mask repeated, holding his hand up at you to stop you from doing anything.
Slowly, the clawed hands opened and the brightest ball of light flew straight up and then over to you, acting like it was looking you over.
"Oh!" One of the others gasped and moved forward. Now you were freaked out.
"What's happening?" You asked as your little friend bumped into the brighter lumen and a large flash of light made you jump. You tried to grab it, but it avoided you to nuzzle the other lumen. "Oh." This was it, wasn't it? That was your lumen, who followed-
Just moments ago you were scared out of your wits, running for your life, sure these people were going to kill you. That who ever was behind that terrifying mask was going to kill you. But, this was them. Your soul mate.
"This just got complicated." Another masked person said. "Maybe we should take them back?"
Who ever they were, was frozen in place and staring right at you. Both of your faces were obscured and stuck in a damp, musty tunnel. It was not a good first impression.
Back? Back where? You felt a soft caress on your cheek and you knew it was the lumen, trying to calm your nerves. You had never seen it so bright before. "I don't-"
Before you could finish your sentence, the owl mask reached into one of they're pockets and pulled out what looked like a blind fold. "You need to come with us."
Oh, that was bold. "Oh I do? You're going to just chase me down and frighten me and now I'm coming over for tea?" You looked at them all. "Are you for real?"
"Look-" They pointed at the lumens, going from you to the tall one and circling around one another. "Things just changed. Do you want to fight us when they're doing that? You really want to fight him?" They pointed at the tall one. Him. They pointed at him. Well, that was one thing you knew about him, that and he was really tall.
You'd have to take off your mask and you could feel the emotion coming off of the big boy. He was in shock or despair. Or both. You were too, this was crazy.
"Damn it." You muttered, pushing your hood back and undoing the clasp of the mask, groaning when the strap actually snapped. This was a great first meeting.
///Scar///
There was no way. The runner was his soul mate? It made sense why the lumen was acting up and trying so hard to get out of his collar but of all the ways to meet you, this was not ideal.
You were also their target, so now what were they going to do? If Ekko hadn't stepped in, he'd still be staring at you, dumbfounded.
When you pushed back your hood and your mask fell off, his heart jumped into his throat. There was no way that you were his soul mate. You were just beyond beautiful to him. Even the way you were looking at all of them with mistrust was just attractive to him. Was this how it was supposed to be or were you just really good looking?
After securing the blind fold, Ekko nodded at him. Scar just stood there, looking between you and him, as if pleading to not make him pick you up. He didn't think he could handle it right now.
"You're the strongest one. Pick 'em up." He nudged Scar and finally, he had to snap out of it and finally do something.
"Wait, pick who-?" Whatever you were saying turned into a yelp as he scooped you up and awkwardly held you for a second before getting on his board. "Why didn't anyone warn me?" You were terrified and he got that, but his ears twitched at the pitch.
Ekko put his hands on his head and exhaled, the mask obscuring what ever expression he had on his face. "Come on, we have to figure this out."
Hey friend, I am writing a short fic about Scar and his lumen and some of your head cannons inspired me. Is it ok to loosely use some of them? if not, totally fine
As mentioned in the post, the idea on Lumen Au with fluffy flying balls as connection between soulmates was at first created by @meliapis. Though, you are free to use any ideas you've got from my headcanons!)))
Can I give you a prompt for Scar x Reader? Going out and him showing reader the firefights for the first time.
Hi, thank you for your ask!! Hope you'll like it!))
And sorry if there any mistakes. English is not my first language.
If only your family had seen you now they for sure would have a heart attack. You also felt like having one when the man you've been clutching on to made another sharp turn midair manoeuvring through the crumped space of the undercity. The fact that you were currently blindfolded didn’t help a bit.
When Scar was gently putting it on, you didn’t argue - it was a necessary condition of the visit - for the safety of the Firelights and your own.
It took everybody several months before you could trust each other enough: you not being part of the rebels and still wishing to help, them being wary of any outsiders. Though when not only you showed them patience of the saint towards all the nagging of the members of the Sanctuary but as well managed to get unsuspiciously to places they could not, it all payed off. Over the time Scar himself became especially close to you. At first, he seemed to be the toughest chirean in both cities, laconic and good with his sharp spear. Then it seemed like your paths started to cross more and more and what in the beginning was strictly messages on shimmer supply or the need to find a specific medicine for one of the firelights, it resulted in you being his safe space after another poorly ended mission. None of you realised when the friendly encounters suited for business partners of sorts turned into something more intimate and vulnerable. Honestly, there was no even any announcements from any of you. It just happened so naturally, that even other firelights didn't point it out and just went along with it. Though, maybe it was to the fact that not only Scar, but also Ekko accepted you as another addition to their family.
The flight came to an end suddenly and you would have gone flying forward if not for the strong figure in front of you. Scar tapped his metal claws on your hand as a sign to let go and jumped off the hoverboard. For the mere second you felt panic sneaking on you as you were still very much blind, but the next moment gentle and firm hands you’ve grown to adore so much helped you down to the ground.
— Are we there yet?
— Almost. — A simple answer. Short as usual. But as you moved to lift off the blindfold, chirean covered your hand to stop you. — Not yet.
After a few more turns, Scar opening some passages, by the sound of it, and climbing a ladder with his help from behind you finally got to lift the bandage of the eyes.
When you opened them, at first you didn’t even know what to focus on - as the colours swam right into your eyes - blinding with the variety. You’ve got so used to everything being gloomy and dark in the Undercity that to the picture in front of you now resembled more of a dream. A good one.
Fresh leaves surrounded the platform you found yourself on. From every side numerous flames flickered from the small electrical lamps and from greenish bugs that were now strongly associated with your new friends in your mind. Then children's laugh was heard as some of the kids flew by, stable enough on the hover boards, and a warm hand fell on your waist from behind. Only then you shake off this dreamy daze.
Then you turn to look up on the chirean, now much more alike that you two were in the safety.
— Scar, — your voice got caught in your throat when his green sharp eyes moved to meet yours: — Thank you. For bringing me here… and for your trust.
The man hummed in content and tugged you in the direction all the houses that were huddling together in the crown of the gigantic tree.
Warnings: nothing, just fluff this time. This time... Oh I guess, adult language and death
You came to help, but you stayed because you found the family you always wanted.
A/N: I don't do this often, but there is a criminal lack of content for this character, and I have seen at least 3 posts pleading for Scar x Reader. I will make this as gender neutral as I can, so if I make a mistake, please let me know and I will fix it, ok? Also, is Scar Chirean or vastaya? I have seen both said and all I know is through the show Arcane. And is Scar the father of that baby we saw him with or was that a sibling??? I have questions!!!
///Present///
You sniffed, sighing. This time of year, the tree bloomed, and it always made your nose run like crazy. Looking at your side, you let out a sigh of relief when you saw that the toddler in your arm was still sleeping. Her ear twitched when you sniffled again, but still she stayed asleep. Tal was a better sleeper than most of the children, but with her Chirean ears, she had the better hearing.
Sighing again, you watched the window of the hut. Usually, Tal's father was back by now, but he was late and that was very unlike him. Your friend was never late.
\\\Flashback///
When you were 15, you decided to rebel against your family and their standards and snuck into Zaun to see what everyone had said. Instead of the bright flashing lights, the danger and excitement, you found people who needed help. Children laying in the streets, parentless and hungry, scared. The illusion that these people were crazy criminals faded away and you couldn't believe the council would turn their backs on their own people. After that night, you couldn't be blind, like the rest of Piltover. You couldn't wipe the sight of the dying children in the street and those who suffered from shimmer addiction, or their bodies being so twisted they no longer looked like themselves. So, you didn't and when you turned 17, you petitioned to go into medical schooling. You couldn't be a doctor, not with your grades, but you could learn and had access to all the information you could get your hands on. Your family thought it was admirable you were going into the medical field, though they had no idea your intentions. Once your graduation was over, during the party your parents hosted, you left from your window with as much as you could carry and with the money you had been given. Maybe you could buy enough medicine...
You didn't last a night without being noticed. The clean clothes and hair, the way you were asking where to buy medicine, it made you a sitting duck. Of course, you caught the attention of some sleezy bastard with a switch blade and the only thing you could do was run. You had never been down the cistern before, but you ended up cornered in a dead end.
"Come on now, I'm tired of chasing sweet thing." His yellow teeth almost glowed in the low light.
It was so terrifying to be cornered and so vulnerable. How could you be so stupid?
As the scum moved closer, you could hear something down the tunnel behind him and then a bright green light whirling towards them. You gasped and ducked down, covering your head as the lights sped up and the whirling sounds got louder. The scum seemed scared as soon as he turned around and noticed the green lights. "Fuck!" He shouted, turning his blade towards the figures on boards coming from the dark. "Firelights!"
You looked up to see the masks and the trails of the green lights. There were 4 of them at least and they all stopped, standing there silently, the masks almost terrifying you to your core. The tallest one had large bat like ears and the mask looked like a skeletal dog. If you were scared before, now you were sure you were going to die.
Before you could blink, the tall figure rushed forward and hit the scum right in the chin and you were sure you heard something crack. The scum stumbled and it gave the bat eared figure time to hit him again and blood spurted out of the scum's mouth and by your feet, making him stumble before he fell flat on his face, obviously knocked out.
The masked bat eared figure stepped over him and the metal clawed hand extended towards you. Afraid, you looked up at the mask with wide eyes and then the extended hand. They had helped you...then, were they safe? You reached up and took the hand, which helped you up, the head tilting as you were sure they were looking at you. With a growl, the figure turned and lumbered away, back to the group of other masked figures. An owl, a bird...maybe a monkey? You were not sure what they were supposed to be. Standing on shaking legs, you watched as they turned from you and the breath caught in your throat.
"Wait!" You cried out.
The one with a hood on and the owl mask looked back, the others stopping and looking at you. Licking your lips, your heart pounding, you held your chin a bit higher. "Where can I buy medicine down here?"
They looked at one another, as if silently communicating with each other. The hooded owl stepped forward. "Why?" The distorted voice asked.
Your hands tightened around the strap of your pack, mouth dry. "I...I came to help the kids down here. I need medicine to help them, and I don't know my way down here."
The others seemed to piece together that you were from Piltover and the feeling turned a bit more hostile, especially from the lumbering bat eared one.
"You want medicine...to help kids?" The leader, you assumed, asked.
Taking a deep breath, you nodded. "Yeah. I just want to help. Any way I can."
\\\A year later///
Ekko was their 'leader', but that was a loose term. There was no leader, just a community trying to improve the lives of those in the fissures. Once they heard your story, Ekko reluctantly gave you a chance and the only reason you were getting it was because he could tell you were sincere, especially when you handed over all the money on your person. The big lumbering figure who had beat up the scum was actually a Chirean name Scar, and while you had never seen one in person before and he didn't talk too much, it seemed you patched him up the most.
It took a long time for most of them to trust you, but you proved yourself over and over again and you kept your word to help anyway you could. Sometimes you gave more than you ever would get back, but it was worth it.
What really proved you were telling the truth was when they brought you a dying boy. They had found him after he had fallen off a roof, trying to run from enforcers. There was no saving him, but Ekko brought him to you to see if there was even a chance. According to him, if anyone could help the boy, you could.
But you couldn't.
It broke your heart as his little chest shook in pain with each breath, the tears streaking down his little freckled face, the dark curls on his head matted with blood. Ekko and Scar watched as you filled a syringe with pain medicine with shaking hands and tears streaming down your face, trying to find a better way to give the boy a more comfortable way to pass on. With a shaky breath, you gave the boy the medicine and watched as the pained look on his face eased a bit, but he still looked so scared and alone.
Leaning down, you took a wet rage and gently cleaned his face. "It's okay, you're safe, you won't hurt anymore." Your own tears flowed but that didn't seem to upset the boy, instead it was more comforting that someone cared. "You were so strong; you can rest now." You reassured him to just let go, stroking his curls from his forehead. It was all he needed and with a shaky, but relieved breath, the light left his eyes and the sounds of pained, wet breathing stopped. With a sob, you rested your forehead on his small chest, whispering an apology. You came to save them, to help, and you couldn't save this poor little boy.
You felt a hand on your shoulder and looked to see Ekko looking at you with a hard expression, but it softened when he saw the tears were real. "Sometimes helping is just being a kind face at the end."
///Weeks later///
You couldn't sleep and you could barely eat without the guilt just wreaking you. One of the other Firelights, a Chirean girl your age named Jaz, began to hover around you. Like Scar, she didn't speak much, but when she did, it was always one syllable words or short sentences.
She dropped a bowl of porridge in front of you, the others sitting around and eating. You could see Scar and Ekko watching from their spots, wondering if she could get you to finally come out of your funk.
"Eat." Her gravelly voice commanded you.
One look at the bowl and you felt your stomach knot, making you push it away. "Not hungry."
You heard a grunt and footsteps, seeing her move to the other side of the table, pushing it forward. "Eat." Jaz said more forcefully as she sat down, lime green eyes watching you.
She wouldn't quit, you knew, but you just couldn't bring yourself to eat right now. "I can't."
"Why?" Her voice cut you a bit. Her and Scar had that effect. When they spoke, it meant business.
Running your hands over your hair, you sighed. "I failed." You said as you watched some firelights circle above the tables around them.
"How?"
You gave her a look, confused on how she had not heard. "That boy- he died, and I couldn't do anything to help him. Just lie and tell him it was all okay."
Her face softened and you saw her look over at the table Scar and Ekko sat at, humming. "You did not fail." She said, looking back at you.
You threw your hands up. "How? How did I not fail? They brought him to me to save him and I couldn't!"
A clawed hand reached forward and took one of yours, holding it as she looked at you. "You can't save them all. Not possible."
'Sometimes helping is being a kind face at the end.' You could hear the words Ekko said to you after the little boy died. They had fallen on crestfallen ears then but now it sunk in a bit. Still, it didn't ease the guilt. "No, but-"
"You're no good hungry and tired. Can't save people when you are half dead." Jaz let go of your hand and stood up. You watched her go to the table with Scar and Ekko, placing a kiss on Scar's temple before walking towards the stairs going up the tree.
Your lips pressed together, even more guilt filled you. She was right. You weren't useful if you couldn't do your job, the one you went to school for, stayed up all those nights to study and pass grueling tests. You were failing yourself now. With frustrated tears, you pulled the bowl towards you, and you forced yourself to eat. You couldn't save them all but you sure as hell could try.
