I’ve talked about Hasan’s open misogyny before but no, it’s actually still not talked about enough that arguably the internet’s biggest leftist “influencer” openly dismisses misogyny and hates women. what inspired me to write this post btw was my own personal experience of being deep in the woods one day and seeing a pickup truck with some guys in it. and the feeling—not yet fear—but the sudden understanding that i was in a very unsafe situation, like smelling a gas leak, that required immediate action on my part. (i hid.) i thought about the differences between being catcalled by one man in a car vs. being catcalled by a group of guys in a car. i thought about the fact that, for whatever reason, aggressive men often do drive pickup trucks. later, i thought about what dworkin wrote in “the rape atrocity and the boy next door,” which was this:

years later, i watched the movie osama, about a young girl’s life under the taliban, and felt my stomach lurch when i saw her see pickup trucks with some guys in it. it should go without saying that the taliban is a greater threat than the men i saw. nonetheless i was struck by the fact that it was the same thing. i thought about how, for women and girls everywhere on earth, whether in times of conflict and instability or in times of peace and prosperity, a bunch of guys riding in a pickup truck or the open back of official military vehicle amounts to the same thing. whether it’s a toyota tacoma or a humvee often does not make any difference. i thought about how one of the most common manifestations of brutality, violence, and death for women and girls arrives in the form of a pickup truck with some guys in it.

and women’s conditioned flair for aestheticism bleeds over to every other aspect of her life too: the popularity of pinterest and tumblr among women and girls, her well-decorated bedroom and apartment (meanwhile just look at a male’s living space), her laying out the table and presenting the food perfectly for a nice dinner, or her constantly decorating her place with fresh flowers or changing up decor in line with the seasons, her gravitating towards characters that look “cute”, or her having visual hobbies like arts and crafts, knitting, gardening, jewellery making, pottery, baking, her carrying her polaroid camera everywhere

so, we’re somehow meant to believe males are “ViSuAL cReAtUrEs” when they’re visual about nothing beyond women and girls’ bodies, and were also meant to believe women are NOT visual creatures when it comes to men even though they’re visual about literally everything else?
