guys for the Stanley Pup i feel like its important to call out in order to manage expectations that
a) its pre-recorded
b) if its anything like last year - the players are featured in short clips inserted where they just promote the adoption, its super short individual features (so not actually interacting with each other) and they don't actually interact with the actual "player pups" either. If its anything like Leno's feature last year, we'll see one clip of Will for only like 30 seconds playing with a puppy not actually in the competition while he promotes the org
i can just see a bunch of people excited to tune in based on all the posts ive been seeing only to be super disappointed 😓 but hey if you enjoy watching puppies play around and who doesn't it'll be worth it anyway
saw this macklin edit and cried btw even when he’s talking about going through things that affected him he brushes it off by saying he’s been very fortunate 🥲
still thinking about how mack’s coach at shattuck looked to fourteen-year-old macklin for reassurance when he was nervous about their team losing a tight game
all the adults in mack’s life have always placed the weight of the world on his shoulders and he’s always born it without complaint. growing up, he was always by far the best player on every team, and so the responsibility of dragging his team to wins always sat with him. if mack didn’t shine, they lost. this is not something new or unique to his time with team canada and the sharks. it’s the grave weight he’s carried pretty much his whole young career. the sharks only won two games last season where mack didn’t record a point, and mack had a point in every single terriers win except one. his coaches and his teammates and everyone watching knew it. if they won, it was because of mack, and if they lost, mack believed it was because of him, too.
that kind of pressure on a kid for so long has to have had a lasting impact, and yet everyone who’s ever talked about him can’t help but gush about how kind and fun he is, how he conducts himself exactly like sid off the ice, how he cares more about the game than anyone they’ve ever met and still treats everyone so well. mack clearly still struggles with anxiety and the pressure and his emotions, and there are times when he can’t hold it in and it ruins him a little, voice cracking, eyes watering, everything bursting through the cracks as his body shakes and he can’t seem to keep how upset he is at bay, but he’s always quick to compose himself after and stuff everything back down behind an “i’m okay, i was made for this, i can handle it, this is what i was built for” mask as he smiles again and forces himself not to express any insecurities out loud, knowing that the next day, the cycle will repeat again. everyone will rely on him again. and he can’t afford to let them see how desperate he is not to let them down. and how responsible he feels whenever he isn’t enough

So, I think between the two of them, Sam is the touchy one and he can even get a bit clingy with Misa. It calms his nerves to have physical proof of their closeness, to know how comfortable they are with each other and within their relationship.
Sam needs his morning cuddle time, his Misa-warmth and the weight of his body against his own. When they wake up together, Sam is either contentedly wrapped around Misa from how they fell asleep, or he wants to press his face into a pillow and scream in agony because somehow Misa rolled out of his arms in his sleep.
This need to be close is definitely a theme throughout their day. When they are brushing their teeth side by side, Sam has an arm loosely wrapped around Misa's waist, rubbing his thumb against the skin under his sleep shirt (which is one of Sam's btw).
When they wander around the kitchen in the morning, Sam will walk up to Misa and just put his head on Misa's shoulder, watching how he fixes their breakfast and smiling into his neck at how domestic their routine is.
They catch a ride to the rink with Toff, both jumping into the backseat so it's easier for them to talk to each other. They’re sitting directly next to each other, and Sam has one of his hands resting on Misa's thigh. He'll lean into Misa's personal space so they can watch reels together on his phone, but Sam quickly becomes aware of how close they are and loses all interest in what Misa is laughing about. Sam just wants to feel the way Misa's shoulders shake from laughter and the way his hair tickles Sam's forehead in the process.
At practice it’s harder to be as close as Sam wants them to be, especially through their hockey gear, but he always makes sure to at least bump into Misa playfully, to check him into the boards jokingly so he can hear Misa's breath hitch at the impact. And to Sam, tapping their sticks together feels a little bit like playing footsies.
And when they’re back and alone in Misa's bedroom, it’s cuddle time. Literally whatever they’re doing, their bodies have to be touching. It’s Sam's favorite thing to wrap Misa up in his arms, but he also loves to lay his head on Misa’s chest and let himself be pulled close.
Their whole day is spend like that; little touches and nudges, cuddling and hugging.
Now for Misa, I feel like he isn’t normally the one to initiate physical touch, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t like it as much, no, he loves it.
He loves having Sam's big hands on him, his warm chest pressed against his own, his arms tight around his torso. Just being in each other’s presence helps Misa feel secure in his actions and it calms his mind.
If Misa wakes up before Sam is fully coherent and they're on separate sides of the mattress, he makes sure to gently crawl back into Sam's arms because he's intimately familiar with how grumpy/whiny Sam can get when he doesn’t wake up with Misa in his arms. I'm so cold, baby, cuddle me, just one more minute.
They used to fight over who get's to ride shotgun on the way to the rink, shoving each other to reach the passenger side’s door first. But one times Sam had pulled at Misa's arm and guided him until they both sat in the backseat. He had collapsed into Misa's side, too tired to sit upright, and he had put his head onto Misa's shoulder. Misa had put his hand into Sam's hair to get him to relax further into his side.
After that Misa had offered that they could both just sit in the back, and Sam had eagerly nodded with the energy of a golden retriever and patted the seat next to him. Safe to say, neither of them ever fought for the front seat again and ignored Toff's glances through the rearview mirror with practiced ease.
Misa loves kissing Sam. Not just on the mouth but also little pecks on his cheeks and on the forehead. When Sam gets out of the shower and splays out half on top of Misa, he'll press soft kisses to Sam's hairline, to his cheekbones, his jaw and his shower-flushed shoulders.
Misa quickly learned how much Sam likes physical intimacy, so he always makes sure that Sam gets his daily dose of cuddle time.
But it’s not like Misa only indulges him; he enjoys it just as much. He loves having his D-man of a boyfriend lay on top of him while they watch a movie, or being manhandled into an embrace. Also, sitting in Sam's lap? Yes, please.
Other's may think that they are doing too much like, are you trying to fuse together? will either of you die if you separate for five minutes? seriously, Sam, we get, he's yours. But honestly, they don’t get it. Sometimes it actually feels like he might die if Misa isn’t in his close vicinity. Or, maybe not die, but like, it would be horrible, you know?
