I FUCKING LOOOOOOOVE KAGURABACHI DUDE
I was wondering something about Marvel Comics, how different is Vision’s backstory from the MCU? I never see a whole lot about him in the comics and have never heard anything about his backstory, which is weird to me.
How much are y’all willing to bet that kaiser uses his valkyrie girls as “surfaces” for his power?
Worm Liveblog: Shell
Barely seen him, fucking hate Kaiser already
Haven’t seen enough, fucking love Bakuda already.
Jesus that midway interlude was miserable as hell. Powers were cool, though.
But to start from the beginning, we see a bit more of Taylor starting to get more confidence in herself, always nice. While the cape things have started to severely overshadow the school things, I still find myself wanting to know more about Emma and her switchup.
Little details like the bank hedging about how much it lost is cool to see.
Ahh here we go, a break from the chaos. Surely nothing will go wrong here.
I really liked Taylor and Lisa’s talk at the market when they’re buying clothes, but Lisa is kinda suspicious for trying to have Taylor hide that info, even if she framed it as more of a joke that she’d never live down.
You can just feel that they’re planning on making us sympathize with Rachel more based on every time they talk about her.
If I’m not mistaken, when they plan to meet back up, that’s the last time Taylor thinks about one of them being a murderer for the rest of the arc, which interested me, as it’s something major that feels like she wouldn’t try and forget.
Excited to learn more about powers themselves in the trigger events, I wonder what they’ll reveal to us next. For the murderer part, hearing about Brian’s trigger event honestly kept me on my toes a bit, because he could be keeping him actually killing his mom’s boyfriend or something else hidden, but then again, it could still be literally anyone else, too.
INSTANT suit up.
Uber and Leet are such goobers man
Wildbow even made conversations with those two goobers feel pretty deep and effective, especially with the whole “he’s my friend” part.
There’s no way Bakuda’s threats don’t backfire on her eventually.
The little details around Bakuda’s voice altering were fun, but for a minute I randomly started imagining her with like a tts speech where she sounded like an Alexa or something.
Pretty much everyone got a clutch up in this fight. Brian blocking the car, Alec on multiple occasions, Lisa is always a clutch, and Taylor taking off Bakuda’s toes.
It was honestly pretty crazy seeing the whole crew desperate.
This act really got me thinking on how Tinkers work. Hear me out, Tinkers’ only ability is that they’re extremely intelligent and have an advanced set of knowledge on something that is far beyond their time, if I understand correctly. However, the objects they create are not directly tied to them being a parahuman, it’s simply advanced technology. But what if it isn’t? Bakuda’s bombs are able to do impossible things, such as create a black hole, freeze time in a given location, and create giant structures of ice, and she bases these bombs on other powers (such as Vista’s). Bakuda later brings up the Manton Effect again when she is giving Brian the space altering bomb, stating that her surpassing the Manton effect is a lucky break of her’s, and is not something that she is normally able to do, which would be very strange if she is simply using regular, non parahuman affected technology. Based on this, I’m very interested in seeing where my theory goes, whether it’s the dumpster or the pedestal.
For some reason the first time I pictured Bakuda she was in a wheel chair. I have no clue where I even got that idea from.
I can already tell how Taylor plans to fix the issues she had this fight, with how useless she seemed then.
Going more in depth about my Oni Lee comment in Gestation, seeing how Oni Lee with a ton of Bakuda’s bombs would do would go CRAZY. Just imagine hundreds of mini black holes and insanely huge explosions and clones on clones of missiles just being directly transported straight to your face. I can just picture it now. Unless Oni Lee can’t clone other objects, but then he’d be naked all the time.
Back to the interlude, Kayden’s costume is great and so are the power displays, but god is Kaiser such a dick and do I already want him gone. Brainwashing impressionable people into his white supremacist ass ideals just to demonize and put down those people for the sake of “his own” is such a fucked ideal and honestly I’d expect nothing less.
I have a feeling that her two worlds are going to start converging much more than they are now.
Worm Liveblog: Agitation
Some stuff in this arc, namely Taylor’s workout routine, kinda makes me wonder just how different things would be for her if she wasn’t striving to be a hero.
I find myself caring less and less about the school stuff at about the same rate as Taylor does, which is a good pace for the story to set.
They’re getting to know Taylor more and more, nice.
I can assume Brian meeting Taylor on her morning runs is where a lot of the shipping here starts, I can just smell it coming.
Early this arc I found myself really wanting to know more about Alec and to see him in action. Also, a taser cane is so cool.
Honestly just leaving school wasn’t the worst call there on Taylor’s end. Especially since the school isn’t actually doing anything to help. Seriously, is this the worst school in the world???
I did also start to notice around this point that this community is both weirdly big and strangely small at the same time. Like, a fairly active social media presence in some places, with like 20k weekly active users on reddit among other places, and yet each arc after the first averages like 40 comments. Idk it was just something I noticed lmao.
Brian really starts showing his H2H skills off here, which is nice.
Gotta love how casually they mention the existence of Earth-Aleph.
Awww yeahhh bank robbery time.
It’s a great touch that Lisa’s power pretty much always keeps you guessing how much she truly knows. At literally any point she could have figured out Taylor was trying to be a spy lmao.
Oh yeah forgot to mention how Undersiders is lowkey worse than Armsmaster, I kinda love it for that.
The Armsmaster reveal was cool, but the guy is kinda being a dick towards someone who he knows is an impressionable kid, real bad decisions on his end if he really cared about keeping her safe at all.
Reallllly sucks that she can’t tell him anything, and honestly I didn’t really know what side I wanted her to take, because being a hero would be cool, but I can already tell she’s going towards villain and it’s honestly very interesting for the story.
Stuck between a lie detector and a “telepath”.
I like how the two murderers thing starts to sow doubt, and I’m still wondering who it is by arc 4, even though by that point she hasn’t mentioned it in a while.
Like I said earlier, Armsmaster is bad with kids.
I like how Lisa talks about things like they’re a game, it really gives a deeper insight into how she thinks.
Also, no Rachel in a while.
The Endbringers sound interesting. They’ve gotta be the worst superterrorists if even the villains are talking about them like this lmao.
Yeah Taylor, keeping your personal life and your cape life separate is not lasting very long.
Great fight, lots of notes.
Damn Lisa’s cool.
I like how they use their powers for this, especially how they use Rachel’s dogs for things other than fighting, even though she’s pretty much the main bruiser.
Most of the Wards’ powers are cool as hell. I’m not all in on the laser blasters, but still great. Seeing Alec in action was great too.
Again, taser cane is mad aura.
It’s interesting how Brian uses his powers, too, especially because I think he’s the biggest contributor to their reputation as masters of escape.
Yo glory girl chill out
Loved Panacea, but Taylor’s reputation is gonna be in the dirt after this. It’s gonna be real difficult if she ever wants to become a hero.
I really like all the different plays on the classic superman power set lol.
The mentions of the Manton effect were interesting, and make me wonder if Vista would just be screwed by Taylor.
Ooooh Clockblocker is having a baddd timeee. Also that name is great. Best name all series.
Overall great fight and great arc.
I like the wards interlude at the end.
I wonder if by “telepath” they also mean controlling minds, even if the information a telepath could gather would be insane.
The Endbringers gotta be like insanely powerful huh?
This arc was a great time.
Taylor’s really starting to spiral out in her habit of just leaving mid school day.
This one was MUCH longer. One more arc to post about before the “liveblog” starts living up to the live part.
Also, I realized while typing this that I didn’t say anything about the documentary in the arc one interlude, which I really should’ve talked more about, but oh well, guess I’ll wait until it comes up again.
The fight is so much fun! I think it’s really well written, I love to see how all the powers bounce off each other.
I’m so interested in what you predict the Endbringers are.
@worm-bookclub currently I’m going to say that they’re on the opposite end of the Scion spectrum, and they’re probably the most dangerous beings anyone’s ever seen with their powers.

Worm Liveblog: Insinuation
The start does a good job of showing the fatigue that comes after a fight like that, but part of me wonders how much a power affects that.
While I don’t agree with some decisions, Danny really seems like just a good guy.
Man Lisa’s so cool
Weird how every single asian person there has to contribute to the abb. If I’m being honest, I first imagined Taylor being part asian.
Taylor geeking out about being a cape is really entertaining, on the other hand, it’s really sad seeing her trying to make herself as small as possible.
Yeah Taylor is in the worst school ever tbh.
I kinda wanna know more about Emma and Taylor’s relationship.
Honestly at this point in the story, I started suspecting whether or not anyone in her personal life was secretly a cape this whole time, but by arc 4, I’m not sure I believe any of them are.
I did also notice a few typos here and there but that’s okay.
Taylor’s paranoia kinda ties in with what I said earlier, it’s sad to see, even if she’s surrounded by villains.
Yeah beat her ass Brian
It’s funny that you can kinda tell that Rachel’s going to grow on Taylor more later, but right now they fucking hate each other. Or, at least, I’m assuming they’ll grow on each other.
Yeah beat her ass Taylor
Panacea’s a cool character, I kinda wonder if her power would just let her Mahito someone if she chose to.
I’d say this is a significant improvement on the introduction!
Worm Liveblog: Gestation
So first of all, the bullies are like, actually insane
However, is it crazy to say that towards the beginning I didn’t really like Taylor?
She honestly reminds me of a younger, stupider, edgier me. With the way Mr. Gladly acts later I understand it much more, but when I first read it those were my thoughts.
The little technicalities interwoven into the fights are cool, even just based on the Lung fight, especially knowing what comes after with Armsmaster.
Armsmaster is a dumb fucken name.
Grue might be slightly worse.
Tattletale is fun.
Feel bad for Danny. That shit sucks.
I also like how just based on this the powers seem to be on a sort of more grounded level. Again, I know what comes after this, but it’s still cool.
Overall pretty good.
The first time that I tried reading Worm, I actually also didn’t like Taylor! That’s part of why I failed to read it the first time. I found her to be just so miserable and unagentic. The bullying is really intense and awful.
I’m always super interested to hear about people’s perspectives on Danny! I was pretty frustrated that he didn’t go talk to her, but it seems like you have some sympathy! you think letting things lie is the right move?
I feel more sympathy for Taylor knowing what happens later, but yeah the doomer mindset isn’t great.
On Danny, I don’t think leaving it was the right decision, but I do respect it. Like, it’s not what I would do, but it’s also an understandable decision, especially because of how his relationship with Taylor is.

Going to start the liveblog for worm soon, but I’ve already read exactly arcs 1-4, so those bits will be lacking the “surprise” aspect of the others, however I will start with sharing my thoughts on them.
Hi! I’m the one running @worm-bookclub, this is my main. I’m curious how you got into worm! Why are you reading it now?
I’m actually looking to try and write some stuff of my own, and someone online told me that this was pretty similar lol.
I’m going to start posting all my thoughts on Worm down here soon, is there a specific format I should do that in or…?
So like how does this work…?
Been reading worm, on arc 4 rn, pretty good. If you spoil anything I’m going to turn you into a hypothetical.
