he's going through a hair dye phase (sleeping in a berry patch)
feels like some of u aren't properly appreciating the fact that he sleeps in a berry patch. and he rolls over and squishes the berries into his fur. because he's so sleepy and content.
maybe people think he's an ugly dog but just to be clear he is actually a beautiful pig
Guy who never feels like his problems are “bad enough” to be taken seriously: what if I hurt the character so horrifically that everyone around them could not possibly deny the severity of their pain even if the character themself tries to downplay it.
NEVER be vulnerable. FLUSH your medication down the toilet. LIE when people ask how you’re doing. SUPPRESS your feelings. ALWAYS be irritable and abrasive. MAKE SURE you push away anyone who’s close to you. CANCEL your therapy appointment.
#i like to think data took him all the way to the brig tossed him in and left#and then came back 60 seconds later and was like ‘i believe i have successfully played a ‘practical joke’ on you :)’#riker loses it & claps him on the back like ‘wow. good job u rly had me going. dont ever fucking do that again’ Perfect.
Actually it’s 73 seconds. Data, knowing something of how human minds work, estimates that Riker will give him 60 seconds to come back (because humans prefer “round numbers”, however arbitrary the units). After 60 seconds it will take 4 seconds for Riker to fully process the conclusion that Data is, in fact, not coming back after all, and an additional 9 seconds to build to the optimum level of anxiety.
After all, comedy is timing.
The thing about grief is that if you are vocally honest about how it feels you sound like someone about to be involuntarily committed
Ximena’s son doesn’t have add, he jus like to jump okay
is it a hot take to say that i think you need to understand why something is bad, not just that it simply is?
this is a part of the problem
you need to be able to explain why you shouldnt use ai rather than “oh well its obviously bad and you shouldnt use it or else youre a bad person” because that isn’t logic. “ai generates child porn based off of real children and whether or not it does is entirely up to how it is built and if pedophiles are able to find ways around those safeguards, because ai cannot in itself discern right from wrong” is a genuine criticism. “amazon tried to build a data center the size of tuson outside of tuson just to power their ai that would’ve increased the inability to stay alive outside in parts of arizona” is a genuine criticism. even “using generative ai teaches you not to learn how to do things yourself even when they’re difficult, devaluing necessary skills out of practice” is a genuine criticism when you look at the amount of people who think they are able of doing a difficult major when they couldnt write their own papers in high school.
but “ai is just bad because it’s bad” will convince no one and is a morally lazy position to take. about anything!
you need to know why reading someone’s diary is wrong if you want to learn about privacy and respect. you need to know why child sexual assault is wrong if you want to be able to help children form healthy age appropriate relationships. you need to know why capitalism is bad if you want to replace it with something else. you need actual concrete ideas and ideologies rather than “you should agree with me because i have the right vibe”
I just *love* how the first thing Lup says after her epic resurrection from umbrella is this🔥
blinkies are back and i’m doing taz now! here’s a set for balance ^_^
while digging up old taz fanart i often see people say Lup would have short hair (or shorter hair than Taako) because long hair is a fire hazard, and i want to examine this solely from a character study perspective out of sheer curiosity/desire to engage with the characters, rather than a "telling you how you should/shouldn't draw a character" perspective, but... basically, short hair for Lup doesn't really ring true as a Necessity for me. in particular, because lots of people draw Taako with long hair when he's both a chef (baking with long hair sucks if you don't secure it first) and a wizard who casts plenty of fire/explosive/otherwise messy spells of his own during the campaign — and that's while Taako infamously doesn't have spell sculpting like Lup does, therefore having way less control over the crossfire than Lup would! so if Taako could get away with long hair, then Lup definitely could too if she wanted to; if a braid keeps things practical and safe for Taako, then it would be more than enough to do the same for Lup. so really, there's not a practical reason for Lup to have shorter and/or more tightly secured hair than Taako does — and could there be a personality reason, sensory reason, or a fashion taste reason? of course, though your headcanon mileage might vary — personally, I've just always liked the idea of Lup being Extra enough, and rightfully confident enough, to grow out long hair as a flex as a fire-magic user, as proof of just how good her spell-shaping is, of how much control she has. when Lup's whole Thing is having so much control of all her very dangerous magical power, it's just very fun potential characterization I think we might all be sleeping on. hell, what if Taako's insistence he has spell shaping during the campaign is also a reason for him to grow out his hair, in confused imitation of Lup? what Situations does that get Taako into because he doesn't have spell shaping, and his hair gets in the way for him? I'm just meandering but there's so much variety in the stuff you can explore here
Taako and Lup, early years
Another game I have been playing lots and lots of, i haven't finished it yet because of school but im hoping to soon!
Shockingly, the game about shepherding spirits to the afterlife is making me feel things.
Met Jackie in Spiritfarer.
I've never seen such a good depiction of medical abuse or how overworked healthcare workers can do viscously take it out on patients they devalue due to ableism/saneism.
Jackie is overworked. He is struggling. Hospital mismanagement is making every job unbearable and needlessly difficult. At first he just seems rude, and it's easy to give him the benefit of the doubt.
And also, he is doing nothing to make it better. He treats everyone poorly. He presses you into doing things for him, but he doesn't really work with anyone. He's so convinced that the misery will never really change that he views your attempts to be kinder and more generous as lies and false expectations that will only make his life harder. He talks about boundaries but the pager shows that he doesn't respect yours. His teasing names become more and more obvious bullying for no reason except you were there to say mean things to.
And then you find out about Daria and how he's been treating her. Dehumanizing her. Making her feel like she's so broken and dangerous that she needs to be isolated like hazardous waste. Taking away her music, three one thing that grounds her. Taking out everything on her because he views her as a burden. Truely awful.
He says over and over that he can't leave because the place would fall apart without him. But when he finally does leave, the whole place gets better. Daria gets better. The buildings get better. The workers are better able to start organizing for changes. The gloom over the whole place lifts.
Jackie was wrong. The place didn't need him. It was a toxic situation. Jackie needed to leave for his own sake, and the hospital needed him to leave for its sake. No one was benefiting from holding on past the situation's time.
Great example of a character that it vitally necessary to the plot and perfectly captures a type of miserable abusive healthcare worker that every chronically ill and disabled person has encountered.
And also fuck him. I hope he spends the rest of the afterlife with wet feet fur. I hope he continuously steps on empty clam shells. I also hope he spends some time just lying on a mountain processing everything he's done wrong. (I don't know if I will see him again later.)
Incredible game.
Gustav with Stanley :3
"character doing a c+ job of breaking the cycle of abuse" is such a crunchy dynamic forever. what if i'm giving my all to give you a better life than i had and i'm succeeding but "better" just isn't quite enough. what if my blind spots and deeply ingrained trauma and inexperience mean that you will be indelibly scarred by me despite my best efforts. what if my abuser's influence still bleeds through at times because i know nothing else. what if i go so far in the opposite direction to avoid it that i hurt you in ways i couldn't have anticipated. what if my undeniable love and unforgivable shortcomings came part and parcel with each other. what if your love and gratitude and resentment and pain came part and parcel too. what if we both knew you deserved better but i was all you had. what if we had to move forward and reckon with that. what then
