I have gathered some lady's bedstraw roots thanked vrouw holle and the plants for their help and am currently dying some white local wool. I honestly don't know how much gram i gathered it's not enough for the 100 grams of wool i put in but i'm not aiming for an incredibly deep colour i mostly just wanted to try out this dye material. And get a substantial amount of wool to make something dedicated to vrouw holle again. i am already so pleasantly surprised! My wool is in it right now the colour looked amazing and so rich before i put it in. I'm so exited to spin the wool that comes out. I'm already looking at patterns regardlesd of what colour it becomes honestly although i am hoping for something orange - yellow!

finished sleeve 2 of the sardine sweater! finally washed a handspun 2ply that's been sitting on the bobbin on my cabinet for weeks, finished spinning 100gr of swifter fiber and also washed it (twice!), also started the lakes pullover :-)

for the pullover i've started on the first saddle and its taking SO long?? its only 56 rows but i'm such a slow purler. anyway i'm using isager soft in this beautiful pale blue colour that my phone camera refuses to pick up, and handspun from a while ago to add a stripe!

I realized that I’ve gifted 5 scarves now but have never made one for myself. So I decided to try cabling for the first time and make myself a scarf! Cables are actually so much simpler than I realized!

Also it seems I am drawn to this goldenrod color….

More progress on my project! I had intended to set this up for consecutive turned twill, but it had been a while so I accidentally did bird's eye (laugh emoji.) I interspersed it with plain weave, and I'm quite happy with how it's turning out so far! The wool is stretching, but that is to be expected, and there has been minimal breakage! Also for your enjoyment some blackberry briars outside. Happy summer!

They finally fit!!

These were my first ever socks! I knew about gauge, but not about ease or that socks should have a negative one soooo.... they were huge (especially considering they are wool and it stretches like crazy the minute you stop knitting and start wearing *eye roll*).

After a nice little run in the dryer, they finally fit me!!

couch arms are a good place to store needles until you almost trip and grab the arm of your couch and anyway i had a needle embedded in the palm of my hand, blunt side well past my skin. i have not fully stopped doing this.

i started texting my friend what it felt like before i even got it out (for fanfiction purposes) (hands have so many nerves and getting good and stabbed, it turns out, hurts)

FINISHED A PROJECT HAPPY DANCE!! specifically with this scarf i wanted to 1)learn two-color brioche 2) put to use the leftover drops alaska yarn i ordered TONS of when it was on sale and already used to make TWO sweaters. i learned brioche stitch but the yarn seems to be neverending. onto the next one!!

1,000-year-old Viking textile production center uncovered near Aarhus in Denmark | Archaeology News Online Magazine

Archaeologists uncovered a 1,000-year-old Viking textile production center near Aarhus, revealing large-scale cloth making and trade.

The site sits near Søften in eastern Jutland, about 10 kilometers north of modern Aarhus. Excavations by the Moesgaard Museum show a planned production area instead of a normal farming village. The settlement covered at least 100,000 square meters. Most of the work focused on making textiles, though other forms of handwork also took place there.

Researchers found an area where flax was prepared before workers turned the plant into linen. They also uncovered 82 pit houses, small sunken buildings linked with Viking workshops. Many held spindle whorls and loom weights, showing cloth production took place on a large scale.

Woot! My Slade cardigan is completely finished. The yarn is 75% merino/20% silk/5% hemp that is handspun that I purchased from Jennifer Tepper (formally Spirit Trail Fiberworks) stash sale earlier this year. The pattern is designed by Michele Wang for Brooklyn Tweed. The buttons are by APH Glass Designs that I purchased at this past MDSW specifically for this project.

If I had to do it over again, I would knit the fronts and back as one piece to avoid the seams there. I also might change the buttonholes to run as one row buttonholes rather than as detailed just because I prefer not having those extra ends to weave in. But it was a good knit that I think that I will be getting some use from.
