Ever had a friend or colleague snap at you for no real reason, acting really out of character?

It is not always bad news for the environment! Here are some of the successes
This book was written in 2010 and at the time the sites above were still being logged. I wounder if the still are or if old growth forest still exists at these locations. I feel that little hope the trend would have changed given the current state of Australian politics and the at times idiotically hostil policies (towards the environment).
This is a terrible and terrifying statistic.. only 8% of Australia’s old growth forests remain, of which only 4% are protected 😧
Just finished listening to Marie Kondos book. The Life Changing Magic of Tidying. The title does suggest a light and fluffy sort of book, however I found it to be extremly simple and to the point. If you are someone who struggles to tidy (I have been my whole life) lets Marie Kondo's book lead through some ideas and different ways to think of your things. I highly recommend listening to the audio book. Its short around 5 hours.
Alfred Adler is possibly one of the most overshadowed Psychologists of his day. Like so many others he has many great ideas to help us come to terms with and understand the human condition (just a little). I recommend checking out this video on Adler, his ideas and methods.
I recently watched Downsizing. I highly recommend watching. It does not pan out the way you expect. The film is halerious and a great piss take. The director skilfully navigates some risky subjects. Well worth the time.

Meaning in inconvenience?
I recently came into possession of an old Cassette stereo (a small pioneer system). At first I though of dumping it, what was I going to do with an old piece of junk. Months past and curiousity got the better of me. I began researching places to get cassettes (apparently they are back from the dead). I also started thinking. Although we have music at our fingertips on our mobiles, i tend to find my because I can access it so quickly I’m not really paying much attention, not to mention all the choices (what am I going to listen too) rock, metal, pop, ect.Pondering further (I’m sure I am not the first or last person to put this idea forwards) I think the sacrifice (time and control) of listening to a cassette tape (being constrained by the tapes you own, and lack of repeat or quick song selection) means more attention needs to be given to the task. You want to be sure you’ll enjoy the music. I think this also applies to other situations, people who like to take photos on film, people who, take joy in writing things by hand or type writer. Because there is there is inconvenience involved, you dedicate more of your attention there is more joy (this may be the wrong term) to extract from the task.
Heartening Experience
Yesterday as I walked home, I was walking some distance behind a group of young people ( I would estimate they were 18 to 20 years old) and as they walked the collected rubbish. I complimented them. It was awesome to see!
Humans do not easily surround themselves with the truth. It is an elusive beast to find and hold fast. But it is a hint that must be undertaken.

We have had lots of rain recently, the local creek is flowing beautifully again. I took some time to do a short recording. I find the sound of a creek flowing to be quite soothing.
Solitude - Wikipedia
Solitude - is a very important and diminishing part of modern life. We (or our culture) promotes business (as in being overly busy) or devoting our attention to a specific task. While this is necessary it is also just as important to have down time and solitude (some of pros and cos are listed in the wiki article) solitude is deferent from loneliness. Solitude (without distraction, yes that means no phones) can allow us to enter the daydream state, which intern helps us set down new memories, make seemingly random connections between things and promotes creativity (a great example is the write in his\her secluded cabin - idealistic I know). So in essence it is a criticle part of the human condition and one that is to easily hijacked (by games, Facebook, Instagram, and other distractions) and one western culture does not seem to value.
May great thinkers have criticised wetern culture for this and rightly so.
I suggest we all take the time to learn and understand what solitude means to us individually and incorporate it into our “busy” lives.
Thoughts on Advertising on the Opera House
I feel the latest public instance of the NSW government putting the interests of business before the public, is just another example of the entrench corruption and blatant disregard for those they are elected to represent.
Background – the Current NSW government (LNP) has deep ties to the gambling and racing industries (So does the other major alternate Labor). In this instance the NSW Government has (arguably) misused their position to use the Sydney Opera house (a public asset) as a billboard for horse racing and gambling (the Opera House has been used in the past but without brands or labels).
Disclaimer – What I have written is a matter of what I have observed and my own opinion. I would encourage you to read up and research and form your own opinion.
As mentioned earlier it is hard to see this situation as anything more that blatant corruption. This is not in the best interest of nor beneficial to the public. As such a (it is my feeling) that a public asset should not be used to advertise or advocate for (in this case) two morally and ethically bankrupt activities. Although I don’t think gambling should be banned (people should be free to if they wish). Gambling should not be able to publicly advertise. The industry does not benefit society over all, and problem gambling is on the increase.
The Brazilian far-right election frontrunner threatens not just Amazonian forests, but the fate of our planet
As the vast Brazilian rainforest steadily dwindles, so do our chances of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. And with the possible election of Jair Bolsonaro, the so-called “Trump of the Tropics” and far-right frontrunner in the Brazilian presidential election, a crucial part of the planet’s carbon emission-curbing toolkit might be in jeopardy.
Bolsonaro has indicated he may open Indigenous areas up to mining, even potentially introducing a paved highway through the Amazon. The environmental impact of those policies would be “the biggest threat to the Amazon since Brazil was under a dictatorship,” said Doug Boucher, Scientific Advisor for The Union of Concerned Scientists’ Tropical Forests and Climate Initiative. “It’s a threat to the climate of the entire planet.”

Scary and through provoking. It is interesting how humanities efforts to protect the plant and our own future, could hinge on electing crazies to positions of power.
