No but imagine a Strange New Worlds episode. A famous Earth scientist comes aboard - he needs Important Space Readings for his Fancy Important Machine to work properly. Enterprise is taking him to get those readings. It's all very exciting, there's a Captain's Table meal with senior staff, during which it's mentioned that he's never been off world before. There's some surprise, but no one thinks very much of it. They're all excited for FIM to get working.
When they reach the spot, they start taking readings and everything's going well. Except, oh no! The Space Things start to destabilise! The ship is shaking! There's explosions! It's bad!
Erica Ortegas, on her way to the bridge, passes the scientist's lab. The door is open, and he's hiding under a desk. He's terrified. They're all going to die; this is the end.
Ortegas freezes for a second because this is… not a situation they covered in pilot training. But she crouches down beside the desk anyway. Yeah, it's scary out there, she says, but the Enterprise runs into weird space stuff all the time and they're very good at dealing with it. (There's probably another explosion right then that does not help her case.) By the time Christine Chapel arrives, he's at least breathing normally again.
The crisis is resolved and they make it back to Federation space. Spock escorts the scientist to the transporter. The scientist is embarrassed about panicking.
"Not everyone is suited to space travel, Professor," Spock says calmly. "But we all have a place. Yours is on Earth, creating wonderful things. I have no doubt that is your destiny. IDIC tells us we are all equally valued."
In the transporter room, Christopher Pike and Una Chin-Riley see him off, thanking him for his efforts.
In the last scene, Ortegas wanders onto the bridge with a grin. Uhura has just received a transmission from Earth - a video of the Fancy Important Machine working perfectly, thanks to the Important Space Readings. 🚀✨
