Lets talk about rewards!
During your weight loss journey it is so important to reward yourself for your hard work. Everyone likes feeling appreciated and we should appreciate ourselves too! When I say rewards, I do not mean food! Donāt ruin your hard work with desserts and alcohol. Been there, done that. Hated myself for it.Ā
At the beginning of my weight loss journey I have thought about things that I would really like but don't normally just buy. An example of this was a new make up palette. I really wanted the Anastasia Contour Kit. Itās pretty pricey and not something that I typically will buy myself. So I said that if I lost 10 lbs I would get it for my hard work. Well, I lost 10 lbs AND the kit was on sale at Ulta so it was fate!Ā
Now, I needed to think of some new rewards that I would like. So I sat down and thought of the things Iāve been wanting. It wasnāt hard because I like to online shop so it was all right there. So here is my rewards wish list:
Also, rewards donāt have to be expensive makeup palettes or new running shoes. That can get expensive QUICK! Especially, if you are really sticking to your goals and losing weight. I have listed some ideas for cheaper rewards too. I typically will use these when I donāt have enough money for what is on my list or if I lost 5 lbs but need a good self esteem boost!Ā
These are just some examples of what I enjoy and thought would help me appreciate myself for all my hard work. There are soooo many options for rewards. What are some rewards that you give yourself? I canāt wait to hear!Ā

Let The Fasting Begin
With intermittent fasting (IF) taking the internet by storm, I could not help but read about it as it continues to pop up in a lot of my keto/low carb groups. For someone making a lifestyle change such as I am the benefits that IF boast are not easy to ignore.
Weight loss
Increased energyĀ
Increased metabolism
Heightened mental clarity
Just to name a few. All of those sound like really great thing. Or maybe i should start simple since not everyone knows what intermittent fasting even means.Ā
Let me start by telling you all I am obviously not a doctor or a nutritionist. All the information is obtained from my own research and from experiences others have shared with me. That is why you will probably see the termĀ āexperimentā in a lot of my posts. Iām just a girl trying to find what works for me in the giant sea that is weight loss and health consciousness.
Fasting is when someone chooses to abstain from food or drink. The term intermittent is kind of the blanket term given to the different styles of fasting people do in the weigh loss/health realm.Ā Some people also fast for religious observances, however the fasting I will be experimenting is strictly diet related.
One of my main goals I hope to be able to reach by adopting this practice is to help myself begin to distinguish the difference between being hungry and just being bored. With food as readily available as it is to most of us I feel like there is really no clear line. Am I actually hungry? Am I just wanted to eat because I am bored? Am I only eating because itāsĀ ātimeā to eat? These are some of the questions I am hoping to figure out for myself through these experiments.Ā
I plan to experiment with IF until I find the style the works best for me and my lifestyle. The three style I will be experimenting with will be 5/2, Alternate Day and 16:8 beginning with 5/2.Ā
5/2 Weekly Fasting can easily be explained in that it is 2 - full day - or 24 hour fasts and 5 days of normal eating. In the chart I created above you can see my schedule for the week.Ā
I began my first fast last night at 8 PM and have roughly 4 hours left. The first 10 hours were a whiz. Of course only, because i was sleeping. I am a little nervous about the fasted cardio I have planned this evening. As the day goes on I do find myself becoming a little more irritable. I plan to give more of a synopsis of how the first 2 full fasts went in my check in on Sunday. I do plan to still drink water, black coffee, tea and chicken broth if I really need it as long as I am staying under 50 calories.Ā

Weekly Check In
Last week, I was feeling a little discouraged about having to start being so strict with my dieting and training again. Sure it is always fun to get excited about making a commitment to yourself. But, when it is something you have beenĀ āgetting serious aboutā orĀ āstarting overā for the hundredth time it tends to get me into a āWhy Meā funk.
This week I wanted to do a little experiment and see exactly why I can eat perfect macros all week and have oneĀ ācheatā orĀ ācelebration dayā on the weekend and ruin the whole week. Surely, 1 day isnāt going to cancel out everything I had done for the whole week.
Ohhh was I wrong. The thing I need to make sure of is that I donāt fall victim to the cheat. I always have had the attitude,Ā āOh well I already messed up so screw it.ā. Then I go and blow two days in a row because i feel sorry for myself.Ā
This week really makes me see that this journey is not something I can do half assād. This is something I need to stick to my guns about and make sure I donāt make any excuses. No more cheat days. AĀ ātreat mealā may be in order every now and then but my days of cheating are over.Ā Ā
Thankfully, this week I can get back into the gym this week for some much needed cardio.
I am posting my macros for the week to show the crash and burn this week. I hope next week to show much improved stats. Gotta get these carbs under control. I also need to have a serious breakup with beer.Ā
On a lighter note I did drop 3.6 pounds since Monday. I am sure it was mostly water weight. However, I want this journey to be measured by more then my weight loss. Which is why I am not going to let it slide the I had a rough weekend.Ā

I had salmon when we went to my favorite place for chicken tenders, I drank diet drinks and water instead of regular pop most of the time, I skipped desserts, and bought all healthy stuff for this coming week. I wish I could pinpoint weight loss journey began... but in reality this is something that I have been struggling with almost my entire life. This is not my first time trying to lose weight. But I would like for it to be the last time.
College was really where the weight began to creep on and then skyrocketed. I gained over 100 pounds over the 5 years I was away pushing me over the 300 pound mark at my highest. I rarely ever exercised & I ate like crap. It wasn't until after I graduated and the reality of just what I had done to my body began to set in. I barely recognized myself anymore. I was on the verge of pre diabetes. I was trapped in a body that held me back from doing the things I loved to do. I also was trapped in a body that made me not love myself.Ā
Since then, I have tried to maintain a much healthier lifestyle. I have managed to keep anywhere between 30-60 pounds of my college weight off & I have found refuge in a low carb-ish life style.Ā
I'll be 30 in May and I have been doing a lot of reflecting. One thing I am sure of is I do not want to spend my 30's like I did my 20's being overweight and unhappy with myself. Even losing what I have has made me feel so much more healthy and so much more capable of being the active person I want to be.
With many exciting thing on the horizon I want to buckle down and really commit to a full Ketogenic lifestyle. Ā With the help of this blog, one of my best friends (Tiffany)Ā and my little keto tribe I have started to build, I hope to reach my goals and maybe even inspire someone else to make a change for yourself.
