People out here saying that Bloom x valtor is a bad ship while I over here ship bloom x darkar :)
You know what.. peak. Live your ship
I ship bloom x valtor and the fandom act like its a moral crime. They really cannot handle villain to lovers trope at all. This ship is tame compared to other fandoms villain to lovers ships smh. Valtor is a villain but they act as if he personally killed her family and destroyed her planet, which he didn't. It was the witches who did all that. (And even if he did, other villain to lovers ship have this too? There are many ships where one killed their family and home??) He lied to Bloom that he killed them for manipulation. Like hello?? (And for people who say that manipulation is bad and evil.. like yeah duh. He's a villain.) And for fans saying ''but he's so old ew.'' Honestly idc. There are ships and even official couples where the main lead is a teen or young adult and the lover is 100+ or even 1000+ years old. It's a story for gods sake. Not real life. But even then for Valtor's case it's different. Valtor wasn't concious for all these years, he has been frozen for so many years. The fans say he's old and it's a crime to ship him (it isn't) but they say this because him and Griffen work together and Griffen is old NOW. But Valtor is still young. He's closer to the ages of the winx than to the ages of Faragonda and Griffen now. This is like saying Katara and Aang shouldn't date because Aang is 112 years old and Katara 14 or something. Aang is on paper old but he is near Katara's age. Valtor is on paper old, but he is near the winx's age. It's fine to not like this ship, but don't act like you are morally better just because YOU don't like it. Too many people are fighting about ships for nothing. Just ignore and block what you don't like omg. (tbh this isn't even only about this specific ship or even this fandom. Newer fans in any fandom take things TOO seriously. Just admit that a ship is your notp and move on.)
You are right. And it's a good/fun/interesting ship.
Reboot Aisha's fairy form's hair is an atrocity, it's like they straightened it out and took away her original texture and just put a hundred tiny bands on it. That's not a Black hairstyle. Reboot Bloom's fairy form had more braids than Aisha for f*ck's sake
There's so many beautiful Black hairstyles that are both protective of texture as well as absolutely stunning enough to fit for a magical fairy but this is what happens when you AI generate your character designs I guess
I'll always be upset about the later seasons butchering anything good with their dumbed down plot… Sirenix actually had a good buildup going to it, it was the next big transformation after Enchantix, the song slaps, but both the plot being kinda dumb and the designs of the fairy forms ruined it. Bloomix had something similar with how it was born from the fire and so could be interesting to merge with other fairies' powers (for example, Bloomix Stella might be able to make a fire that's as hot and bright as the sun) but that didn't happen and the plot was again dumb even if the designs were actually beautiful. All because the characters have all been lobotomized and now act clueless and have the same personality
I hope rainbow won't turn Damien into a fairy. He's not a wizard or a mage. He's a warlock (male witch), and that is fine.
Damien just didn't like to be associated with darkness. He wanted to be good. But due to faragonda and griffen claiming that someone having 1% darkness = witch/warlock, he got disappointed. A witch/warlock can still be good!? Like, wtf?? At that point, you might associate the whole winx girls as witches, too.
I'm having ptsd of Mirtha turning into a fairy.. only because she's a good person. Nope. Can't have a good witch be in the show. No, no. All witches (and warlocks) are evil. And all fairies are goodness and sugar. Nope, we turn Mirtha into a fairy and then push her back to background mob characters, and the only time she is useful is when we need her for CLOUD TOWER!!?
Well, it seems like I had 2 confessions in 1. I don't want Damien to turn into a fairy, and I hate that Mirtha has been turned into a fairy.
Iginio Straffi saying "there's too many girls in shows nowadays, back when I made Winx there weren't enough but now there's too much" as well as the whole "gay people are pushing their agenda down our throats" comments really leave a sour taste in my mouth about both the inclusion of Damien as a character in the reboot as well as the continued (and forced) hetero characters and relationships. Especially when some of the best casual outfits for the girls were designed by gay designers and the show was unapologetically female-focused before this.
I'm paraphrasing the exact words but he has said those things recently. A few Winx YouTube channels covered it.
I won't be financially supporting the franchise anymore. I hope the reboot fails and the IP dies. We'll always have the original series to love and rewatch.
One thing I'll never fully forgive the reboot for is making Bloom even MORE of a main character than the show. The later seasons were already more Bloom-focused, with Bloomix being a whole transformation. And now before the first Season is officially over, Bloom gets a special transformation scene that the others don't get? All the other mini-arcs are too quickly resolved, like the one with Aisha's parents, that resolution was so stupid.
The original story had them overcome their struggles one by one but together, that's how they got Enchantix. I know that she was always the MAIN main character and the Dragon Flame was a central point in the original too but somehow the reboot feels worse. Maybe it's bias and nostalgia talking, but Bloom did NOT need a special transformation that's just for her.
I’m kinda fascinated that, within the span of a year, we’ve gotten a combined number of three new long lost siblings for Bloom stemming two unrelated spin offs for Winx Club (Beatrix/Briar from the Fate comics and Damien from the reboot, respectively). Obviously the “corrupted/evil sibling separated at birth” trope is reasonably popular, so I’m not surprised it got used at least once in this franchise, but still, it was such a surprising overlap that occurred within 13 months of each other.
Now that Bloom has gotten long lost siblings from two different sections of the WCU (Winx Cinematic Universe), I NEED content of Damien, Beatrix, and Briar all together. I’m talking royal family portraits, I’m talking AUs with Beatrix and Damien as a villain duo, I’m talking swap AUs where they’re in each others’ franchises, and ALL THE REST! There is SO MUCH potential, and even as an artist myself, I cannot actualize all the potential on my lonesome. 😔🎨🖌️
(I'm the same anon who talked about musa and flora fate casting.) Also for fans saying ''but flora is in season 2 of fate'' THAT'S BECAUSE OF THE MASSIVE BACKLASH THEY GOT FOR GETTING RID OF FLORA IN THE FIRST PLACE!? If there was no backlash there would have never been ''cousin flora'' in season 2 in the first place. There would have only been Terra aka flora's replacement. And she was only called Terra BECAUSE they know they are doing something wrong. There is literally footage of the actress replying when she was called flora (like script exercise). The actress could have done a quick google search and knew she looks NOTHING like flora and should NOT play this role. (same applies to the musa actress).
context
I know it's been years but I still cannot believe the casting of the fate cast. To have musa and flora being casted as white girls.. the audacity. Flora being casted as a fat white girl because *representation*. Yes. Get rid of the brown girl. (Also the fat thing is 100% due to fans always drawing her fat. This happened even before fate was a thing). And Musa being played by a white girl. idc that her grandpa was part singaporean or other asian country. She's white!? Let her be played by an asian person. Chinese, japanese, korean, vietnamese, taiwanese, whatever. Anyone that actually LOOKS like musa. (I am specific about LOOKS. You can cast an chinese person who looks nothing like musa, and that's still wrong. Cast someone that fits her. You don't say anything if a french person plays a german person, so who cares if a korean person plays as musa. Especially since she is not from earth in the first place.)
I HATE that Stella and Bloom are having a copy paste look. Especially in season7. Just because they are best friends that doesn't meant that they need to look like twins!? This is the same with Sky and Brandon. Sky's new haircut is just Brandons hair with a mullet. Is this supposed to be a twins dating twins thing? (I like that trope but not for these 4. Let them all have their own look.)
I hate that aisha has been rebranded as ''fairy of waves/ocean''.. it's so boring. She was fairy of morphix. Her own liquid that she could morph. It was original.. but they gave her basic water powers now..
As much as I love and adora Aisha.. I feel like they shouldn't have added her as an official winx member. Like they should have used her as a ''this is an important character for this specific season'' and let her be a background character after. Kinda like how Mirtha was in season 1 and Roxy in season 4. And I know that many would not agree, but that's because Aisha is here since season 2. But we all agree that her character has been made worse every season (post season 4 or/and 5). Mirtha has actually been left alone, but even whever Roxy is being called back.. she is just being shitted on. The butterflix season was the worst for Roxy. But Aisha also gets worse. She turns into a stereotypical gym jock and gets the harsh black girl stereotype. And in the reboot we can sense they didn't really want Aisha to be important.. they could have just not added her in the reboot at all? Or let her not be in part 1 but come in part 2. Just not as an important role like how she was introduced in season 2. Let her come in as a transfer student who's shy and intergrates with the reboot winx.
I'm going to unleash and make a LOT of people unhappy, but I am becoming increasingly frustrated with Cast Re-imaginers and their obsession with removing the girls' femineity.
Aisha - hulking, muscular, no curves, breasts replaced with pecks, and towering over everyone. What? Black girls can't be feminine? Athletes can't be feminine? Why always the black girl?
Flora - shortened and made pudgy, with ill-fitting clothing and skin as dark as Aisha's. Because fat girls don't know how to dress and the only skin tone that is legitimate is African American. Look, before the fat-phobic accusations start, it's not the fat part that bothers me, it's the ill-fitting clothing that is cutting off circulation and the insinuation that big girls don't know how to dress for their size that bothers me. There is a crap-tonne of cute clothes that big girls can wear.
Musa - made the shortest of the group, given 'slitty' eyes, short hair, manly punk rocker attire. Because rocker chicks can't be feminine and Asian stereotypes are fine. Asian rocker chick could be so awesome, and yet…
Techna - Techna, oh Techna, what do they do to you? Tall, ill-looking pale skin, absolutely no curves whatsoever, unhealthy posture, gawky looking, with even shorter hair or a half-shaved head. Because nerds can't be girly and feminine. Girly girls can rock half-shaved heads, by the way. Just saying.
Bloom - what is with everyone's obsessed with making her color scheme red all the damn time? All pyros must be red or orange, sorry, those are the rules apparently. Also, why the obsession with putting her in shapeless pants and t-shirts and cutting her hair? Girly tomboys exist, you know.
Stella - out of everyone, she gets largely left alone. However, she, too, is often made pudgy with a terrible taste in clothes all of a sudden. Which could not be more opposite to who she really is.
With how much the girls change, you may as well just make OCs at this point.
I miss when Musa's power and theme in general was about hiphop and disco. Her powers in the earlier seasons were so cool. Like the disco ball and the boomboxes. And I know that even in earlier seasons she can play the flute and saxophone, but I really liked that her general theme was disco and hip hop. But in recent years Rainbow (and even fans) don't aknowledge her disco and hiphop elemants that much. Yes in the reboot she has a disco dance moment, but it looks more like the French flag theme instead of disco. But they also just turn her into a rock punk chick.. ish.. she was never that. Now yes, but she wasn't originally that. I feel like they kinda simplify her to just rock.. for reasons. (Kinda like how Rainbow and fans simplify Layla to just a sportsy person.) Do they think that disco is too old for kids today? Do they only associate hiphop with only black people now? Even though hiphop (and any music) can be enjoyed and made by anyone? Her music was also R&B style (the saxophone and smooth music).. she also doesn't even get that anymore. Just kids pop music.
I don't like the fanon/headcanon that helia should be a fairy. They don't headcanon this with the other boys but only with helia because helia is the pretty long-haired pacifist boy who can use magic. (He doesn't use it like nabu, but he can use it.)
I've only seen 1x someone headcanon riven as a fairy and made pretty fairy fan art of him, and "fans" were dogging on the artist for drawing riven like that. So yeah.. fans who headcanon helia as a fairy, they do that because he's a pretty boy who looks like a girl.
(I actually know what you are talking about. I can't remember the artist but they made fan art of Riven as a fairy. It was pretty art too. Not a joke/gag thing. But ''fans'' were calling it gross.. only because it's Riven. The artist eventually deleted it because said ''fans'' didn't know how to not be an ass. )
