crucially to me hollanova is top jane bottom lily. bc a major part of shane’s story is him not only accepting his masculinity as a gay man but also as a bottom. and in my little pea brain jane’s femininity is challenged by not only being gay but also by being a muscle butch top. Do you understand me
jane hollander is still a sub. dont get it twisted. sub top jane hollander is what is being portrayed here

Petition: Hold a UK-wide briefing on climate and nature risks
The UK faces growing risks from climate and nature breakdown - from extreme weather to economic disruption and national security threats. Yet the public has never been given a clear national briefing on the scale of these risks. Government should hold an emergency briefing from leading experts.
(please only sign if you're in the uk, this one really needs to not be compromised)

I know that Ea-nasir is like a meme these days but it is wild that we have complaint letters from 1750 BC. That's over three thousand years before the release of Belgian techno anthem "Pump Up the Jam".

the problem with tumblr spells is all of you lil sluts are casting and not giving it time to charge so you're all casting cantrips and not 9th level death spells. everyone wants to be the one to take them down no one wants to be the one who assists
we're going to try again witha little but minimal casting
IT will happen in August of 2026. like to charge and reblog to cast but cast sparingly
Wait stop. everyone +like now and spread it a little but cast on the same day in August. lets try August 6th or something.

Inspired by my walking past a home built in 1754 in my new neighborhood, which isn't even the oldest building in the city. As someone born and raised in the Western US (where we do have some very old buildings, contrary to popular belief, just not in the middle of most cities), it made me curious!
When was the oldest extant building you can reasonably walk to from your home built?
20th century
19th century
18th century
17th century
16th century
15th century
14th century
13th century
12th century
11th century
10th century or before
(Use your judgement for definitions of "extant," it doesn't have to be used for its original purpose but my intention is a building that could theoretically still be used, not just the remnants of one.)
I never saw people say stuff like this enough when I was a teenager, so I’m saying it now.
I’m in my mid-thirties and I have never had sex. I’ve thought about it and could have had one or two opportunities if I put in more effort, but I always decided against it because I just wasn’t into it at the time.
I can safely say that I do not feel I have missed out on anything. I was perfectly capable, by myself, of learning about my own body and boundaries without anyone else there to muddy the waters. The immense pressure that was there in my teens/twenties to Have Sex Just Do It is basically gone. I’m vibing. I’ve got my routine by myself in bed that I enjoy, and that’s enough for me.
And in the unlikely event that I ever decide to have sex with someone in the future, I don’t feel at all like I’m lacking some essential Knowledge or Skill that would “make it good” for someone else. I fully expect to ask my partner out loud what they like and to receive an answer clearly communicated and to relax and have fun. And if it’s a disappointing experience, I’m fine with that too. It is what it is.
Sex is just not that big of a deal. I suspected it as a teen, and I’m more sure of it now. It’s fine to have it or not have it. It’s whatever.
british is not synonymous with white
european is not synonymous with white
the world is not divided into USA (melting pot), white countries and brown countries
"um you know the type of person I mean when I say british" hey do you think this line of thought may have Implications
Idk, isn't saying european /= white is like saying china /= chinese? Like yeah, other peoples live there too, but it's mostly just the one, init?
'Chinese' is a nationality. There are 56 officially recognised ethnic groups within China. Europe is a continent, comprised of around 50 countries each with their own demographic makeup. So, no.
Something like 20-25% of British people are, in fact, not white. And excluding those people as "yeah but they're not like British British" is the fucking mating call of our local hooting racists.
BEHOLD! a white guy
"British food is soooo bad/gross/flavourless"
All of it? Or just a couple of cherry-picked dishes mainly eaten by lower class families that you think are weird? Many types of curries are made/eaten by British people every day and those aren't suddenly "not-British" bc you've decided people with South Asian heritage aren't British or capable of contributing to British culture. "Yeah but South Asian people are only in England bc of colonisation :/" Are Black people not American bc many of them are there bc of slavery? Is soul food not American??
"British accents are soooo cringe"
All of them? or just the ones used by people who've been forcibly made "lower class" by centuries of oppression? these are the people who say "boht-ole 'o whot-arh" or "innit." The white ruling class you're supposedly mocking doesn't say that. It's poorer white ppl & POC.
but you know who else mocks/stigmatises cultural food they don't like and any accents (including British ones) they think sound funny/incorrect?
the white British ruling class. you are doing white British ruling class behaviour when you do this shit. stop it.
Agree with all of this except the bit about food. So much of historic traditional British cooking is just Step 1: Boil. Step 2: Salt or Sugar. Step 3: Enjoy. In the same way I wouldn't call burritos classic American food despite being eaten by most Americans, I wouldn't call curry a classic British food. A popular British food, but not a classic traditional one. Thank you immigration for introducing flavor and style to British cooking.
Hi! British person who does medieval reenactment here, so eats a lot of medieval British food. First of all, British cuisine has always had spices. Cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg etc might be more readily available today, but you will find many recipes from 1000 years ago that include them. I will also add that spices are not the only way to add flavour! Everyone forgets herbs! Mint, rosemary, thyme, all would be used in historical British cooking. Frankly, most of this would be more readily used than salt and sugar! Although coming to sweet - combinations of dough, fruit, honey and spices very much existed, and they're so fucking good. Yes, there's a lot of stew (although what's wrong with stew?) but also pies, breads, drinks, other stuff...
I'm sorry I'm very into historical food and I think it's misrepresented. I'd encourage people to seek out some recipes and try them out, you may be pleasantly surprised!
Not only that, but curry is a classic British food by this point! The first curry house in the UK was opened in 1810, predating pizza and burgers introductions to the USA by about a century. Not only that, but the regularly-voted Best British Dish is the Chicken Tikka Masala, which was invented in Glasgow in the 1960s.
Anecdotally, it's also considered something of a rite of passage for British twenty-somethings to eat curries with enough spice to incapacitate a rhino XD
another day of not being eaten by the cyclops king everyone say thank you cyclops king
