HRT Update:

Just got switched from 6mg oral to 5mg weekly injections for estradiol. After 18 months, I wasn’t responding to oral estradiol like my doctor wanted and my T shot back up in the last 3 months. Hopefully this gets me into the levels we’ve been targeting.

Michael Dillon (1915-1962) was a British physician and trans man. In 1946, he published Self: A Study in Ethics and Endocrinology, an exploration of transgender issues.  “Where the mind cannot be made to fit the body,” he wrote, “the body should be made to fit, approximately at any rate, to the mind.” He was himself outed as trans in 1958, when two rival peerage reports raised questions over whether he should be heir to his brother’s baronetcy. He fled abroad, dying in India at 47.

April Ashley (1935- ) is a former fashion model and trans woman. After her reassignment surgery at 25, she began a promising career, appearing in Vogue and in a Bing Crosby movie. However, in 1961, she was outed in the press with the headline “ ‘Her’ secret is out”. Her credit was cut from the movie, and her career was cut short. She continues to be a trans activist, and was awarded an MBE for her services in 2012.
