I gotta take my chances
I feel confident enough to post these now. A collection of all the existing posters after some edits from the other post that got 13k notes! These are full size/quality. Go nuts.
You may use them for wallpapers, tabletop campaigns, whatever. Consider tipping me or buying a print or sticker on ko-fi here! If you do use them, let me know what for, or send pictures!
What, the forest-dwelling entities with imperfect human mimicry who insinuate themselves into groups of hikers? Yeah, we had one of those. Clocked it immediately, of course. Honestly it kind of fell in that so-inept-it's-kind-of-charming range. We just played along until it'd had it's fill of marshmallows and shambled back into the treeline. We might have been violating some kind of killjoy wildlife contact best practices but what the hell, can't plan around every little thing. Why, what happened to you guys
these tags are gold omg
It's a misconception that the mimics are hunting humans when they trail along at the back of hiking groups.
In fact, the creature you'll find suddenly walking beside you and acting as if they've always been there is almost certainly a juvenile, as the adults lose the ability when they reach reproductive age.
Recent studies suggest the forest mimic is less like a preying mantis (mimicry as a hunting strategy) and more like a cuckoo (mimicry as a protective strategy for their young). Adult forest mimics will leave their offspring near a group of hikers while they forage during the day, and retrieve them near trailheads in the evening. Groups of hikers provide safety from predators and allow the parents of the species the freedom to forage more widely.
For this reason, the traditional advice to never let a mimic into your vehicle is still very important, as this would separate the young mimic from its mother. If a juvenile forest mimic does follow your group to the parking lot, you can keep it entertained with trail snacks, dad jokes, and simple goofs. The mother will usually collect them shortly before sunset.
When you notice the woods around the trailhead go silent and feel a sense of nameless foreboding, find an excuse to avert your attention from the juvenile so it can sneak back into the forest to rejoin its mother, convinced it's fooled another party of unsuspecting humans.

Alright unless the client has any requests for changes this is the final build for the model and it is ready to be painted.

Here is the monochrome render for the model done in airbrush.

Now in technicolor.
There’s a decent bit of overspray but this is all the painting I could do with the airbrush, just added the colors over top of the monochrome.

Did a bit more rendering and finished the base.

Do you have any ideas to make a new army or a kill team in the future I would love to hear them if you do
I have dozens. Most of what I want to do in the future is make combat patrols for all the factions in the Barbatos Divide.
“As grizzled veterans of the Long War, the Fortunate Ones make extensive use of strategically placed orbital bombardment and massive drop pod deployments. Imperial records mention Astartes armored in viridian steel and vermillion flame who hurl themselves into battle with no regard for their own survival, even when luck and the ruinous boons of their dark masters would not shield them from the myriad threats of the field. These acts reflect a warband that believes itself to be immortal, though incoming artillery will often prove them otherwise. When not being mowed down, the warband’s Marines rush into battle sporting surprisingly well maintained equipment.”

Fortunate Ones Template Marine [WIP 1]
The line art for this painting was done using several template marines I got off google images, and a bunch of drawing based on official artworks. I’d say I’m about 3/4 of the way through with this piece.
Fortunate Ones Template Marine [WIP 2]
Nearly finished with this piece. All that’s left at this point is a bit more rendering for the details and armor, then some weathering. I might add some Cthonian runes before I call it.
“The true beliefs and intentions of these heretic astartes are unknown, although much can be speculated on from the propaganda and aftermath of their conquests. What tainted imagery that has been collected as evidence of the warband will speak lies of a “better life away from the Imperium”, claiming to bring stability and prosperity to the planets they have “liberated”. Some more dangerous pieces depict bizarre phenomena, possessing hidden thaumaturgy that assault the mind of the viewer. Pushing the victim to question their own reality slipping into a void of paranoia and hate. Though many unpredictable mutations can occur the most common other effect of the exposure to these curses was teratoma growths sprouting from previously healthy individuals. Common symbology in suspected Fractal Guard sightings includes depictions of horned space marines in “heroic” portrales, repeating patterns that may move, spirals, fractal structure, mandalas, and hydras.”

-Pictured here is one such piece of propaganda recovered from the former Imperial Hive World, now Death World, Moirai IX.-
This piece was painted by Danilo Valdez on commission.

Do you have any tips on kitbashing also I hope you have a good day
Thanks you have a good day too!
Uhhhhh well that’s a pretty wide topic but I’ll do my best! I recommend learning the basics of model building first. Cutting models off the sprue, gluing pieces together, what glues to use when, how to base a model, filling gaps, etc.
After you feel you have that down you have to get comfortable with the cold truth of kitbash:
- you are going to fuck up some expensive models in the process of kitbashing.
It will suck, but as you improve you’ll gain more confidence and botch less kitbashes. Eventually you’ll even start having fun instead of dreading cutting apart expensive plastic.
After you get over that hurdle it’s time to visualize what you want to build, I will sometimes do sketches or thumbnails for future models. Sometimes I just grab some neat bits and/or kits and start seeing how they can fit together in interesting ways. It helps to have a good idea of what you’re wanting to build, a solid theme and role for the model.
Beyond that it most comes down to experience and technical skill that comes with practice. One skill I would definitely recommend developing is sculpting if you don’t have, can’t afford, or don’t want a 3D printer learning how to sculpt can make a huge difference in your kitbashing.
Good luck out there!
