Welcome to Words For Your WIP!
Why does this blog exist?
Because I'm a big fan of single-word prompts—they help me get into the flow of writing, so I figured other writers might enjoy them too!
Who comes up with the words?
I do, but asks and submissions are open if anyone wants to submit sets of 3–5 words to be added to the queue!
Who are you?
I'm @jadefyre. You may know me better as jade from @keyboardandquill.
How often do you post new sets of words?
The queue posts once per day.
Is this some kind of challenge? Do I have to respond every day?
Not at all! These are just for inspiration, so you find yourself in need of inspo, come on over!
However, if you're hosting some sort of event and would like to use any of my posts as the basis for it, please feel free to do so! I'll even reblog the announcement post if you want me to.
What kinds of tags do you use?
I will tag each word found in a set using its American English spelling.
To see word sets only, try #wfyw word sets
Non-word-set asks will be tagged #wfyw answers asks.
Occasional reblogs announcing external writing prompt events/contests will be tagged #wfyw events.
I will also use common writeblr tags for visibility, such as 'writing prompts', 'writeblr community', and similar.
Are there any restrictions/rules for submissions?
Yes, they are as follows:
Words must be SFW (if you aren't certain, it doesn't hurt to ask!)
Submissions (whether sent through an ask or the submit form) must contain between 3–5 words
Multiple submissions are allowed, but they must each follow the guidelines to be queued
I won't publish duplicates, so please check my archive to make sure your submissions haven't been posted
For reference, I spell tags using American English even if the words in the posts themselves have an alternate spelling; e.g. I might use 'colour' in the post, but will use 'color' in the tags.
Can I request a set of words based around a certain theme?
Sure! Please use the ask box and make sure you let me know it's a theme request. :)
Do you answer asks about writing/do you give writing advice?
Yes, but not on this blog! Please send those to my writeblr, @keyboardandquill.
Do you reblog scenes written based on your prompts?
Not here; this blog is for sets of words and the occasional answered ask. I may share it to my writeblr, however, unless otherwise requested!
