20 DAYS SHOUJO CHALLENGE
Day 12: favorite shoujo character design/outfit ā Sakura and her card captor costumes
And believe that anything is possible when you have the right people there to support you.
What she says: Iām fine
What she means: In Howlās Moving Castle Sophie goes back in time and witnesses Howl making his original deal with Calcifer thus discovering the way to break Howlās curse and before she leaves she tells Howl to find her in the future and if you recall to the beginning of the movie Howl saves Sophie from some highly questionable and rapey soldiers and tells her āthere you are sweetheart, sorry Iām late, Iāve been looking everywhere for youā because he took what she told him as a child to heart and has been looking for her ever since and if thatās not the tightest shit ever I donāt know what is
A mystery: my mom says I opened my eyes last night and said really loudly āI had to do it, they were threatening my livelihood,ā without actually waking up. I do not remember what I was dreaming, but now Iām really curious.
Also, this would make a really interesting writing prompt. Who are ātheyā? Had to do what? What livelihood was threatened? Hmmm...
yall know what i love? that kind of black cats that look like some cat-shaped blops of darkness
perfection
ok but the Old Town Road music video is CRAZY GOOD. Those visuals >>>
I also love how playful and fun it is, and spotting the cameos!
Girls donāt want boys. Girls want to glide down ladders in their own private library while their red cloak flutters behind them, owning swords and many chocolates, with fast WiFi at all times.
i cannot stress this enough
Actually true.
who needs therapy when you can make a playlist of songs you know by heart and sing them all very loudly off key while washing the dishes
Yeah! This feel! (Except I donāt usually sing off-key, and I do actually have a therapist.)
In the USA, itās 100x cheaper to take an Uber to the hospital instead of an ambulance.
I donāt know if this is true or.. Like, having to pay for an ambulance that is taking you to the hospital? That doesnāt make any sense. What kind of distopian world is that?
It costs thousands of dollars to ride in an ambulance
In America some people with chronic health conditions like epilepsy literally have to wear medical IDs that say ādonāt call an ambulance/911ā. Some well-meaning person calling an ambulance for you will turn into a thousand (or couple thousand) dollars that YOU are on the hook for, even though you didnāt make the call. So, PSA: if you see someone having a seizure, look for a medical ID! You should only call an ambulance if: the person is elderly, pregnant, or the seizure lasts more than 4 minutes. Otherwise, wait for the seizure to pass, then ask the person if they want an ambulance when they regain consciousness.
Oh my god what. Here in Quebec, if you call an ambulance for something they deem non-emergency, you get a bill later for like $180. But if itās anything like a loss of consciousness, chest pains, labour, whatever, or if youāre in a public place and a a well-meaning samaritan calls 911, itās paid for by the government. Seriously, everything about healthcare in the US makes me want to cry.
A couple times a good friend of mine who lived close by called me in the middle of the night for a ride to the hospital because she was super sick but couldnāt drive herself and couldnāt afford the charge for an ambulance. I really do think America wants the poor to die.
When I was twelve years old my family got into a severe car accident that injured my motherās neck. My younger sister and I had to ride in the ambulance with her and during the trip an EMT gave us teddy bears to comfort us. Those teddy bears were added to the bill, $25 each.Ā
A few years ago, I was stung by a bee, had a very mild reaction, and then had a panic attack, because Iād never been stung by a bee before, and Iām allergic to a lot of things, and it scared me. My friends called an ambulance which took me to the hospital, where I discovered that my insurance had lapsed because I didnāt go see my doctor during the transition to Obamacare, and thus didnāt see the special notice in the exam room that I had to call DHS to continue receiving insurance. The hospital kept me in a room for observation for about an hour, and then discharged me.
I later received two bills: $980 for sitting in a hospital bed, hooked up to machines for an hour, and $2000 for the 10 minute ambulance ride.
The hospital called me to shake me down for the money, and I told them the truth: I am a college student with no job (either then or now, actually), with thousands of dollars in student loan debt, scraping together rent and food money through the generosity of my friends and family. They told me theyād send me a packet to fill out to get assisstance, since Iām ālowā-income.
I never received such a packet. They called me back months later, asking why I hadnāt paid, I relayed to the person on the phone that I was supposed to receive some kind of packet in the mail to fill out because I couldnāt pay. They person said heād enquire about the packet and get it sent out.
I never received such a packet. Then, they sent both bills to collections, and ruined my credit score, because I still canāt pay.
Hereās another one:
I have specific trauma around the death of my father, which occurred when I was 8 years old, and even though my parents knew it was coming, they didnāt know how to tell me, so I was surprised as fuck when my dad died (on Thanksgiving day, no less). Anyway, I spent the next 3 years crying at the drop of the hat and having all kinds of neltdowns and shutdowns due to my (then undiagnosed) autism being poorly handled in conjunction with my grief.
This trauma was all compounded by the fact that my mom got really sick when I was around 10 years old. One night, she woke me up in the middle of the night because she sidnāt want me to wake up to her gone, and she needed to go to the hospital. She was having really intense chest pains and difficulty breathing. Did she call an ambulance. Not a chance. Instead, my mother got in a car and drove herself to the hospital for that shit, and I spent the next 4 hours watching reruns of Star Trek Next Generation (which I used to watch wih my dad before he died) while hugging a teddy bear and crying because I was afraid my mother would die.
Anyway, at the hospital they eventually misdiagnosed her with multiple sclerosis and sent her home. She later figured out on her own that she has pernicious anemia, which looks like ms but is 100% treatable with B-12 supplemental shots. If caught early enough, the person who has it can recover with absolutely no negative effects. My mom was not caught early enough, and now experiences pain from nerve damage to a significant percent of her body. She still has to work, though, because the US has basically no social safety net and so itās practically impossible to get on disability. Womp womp.

Dang, this may be the most Iāve ever related to a post Iāve reblogged...
i just saw a fb post where a man was arguing with a woman about the best way to make macarons and he kept insisting that she was wrong, and then eventually he was likeĀ āIāve never personally made macarons, but if you think about it what Iām saying makes sense, iām simply stating the obvious. iām sure there are plenty of youtube tutorials that would show you the same thing.ā and the woman replied by linking him to her instagram business page and she makes fuckin macaron towers for parties for a living and iāve been laughing about it for a solid 5 minutes.
Men automatically assume theyāre more of an expert on something than any woman on account of their dicks. Iāve never met such an ignorant and narcissistic creature as a male
Iāll never forget a time when a fb friend of mine posted that sheās on her way to hospital to give birth. Women commented withĀ āgood luckā and other encouraging messages. A manās comment was advice on how to give birth.Ā
You have got to be kidding me
So I was talking about Jekyll & Hyde (the book) at a writerās museum while we were looking at an Robert Louis Stevenson exhibit. I was giving my take on Jekyll, and my brother tried to counter it. I countered back easily, and then he said āwell Iāve never read the bookā
My dudeā¦ā¦ā¦..stop
my ex, whose baking experience was pretty much limited to frying premade biscuit dough in boy scouts to makeĀ ādonutsā, would constantly try to correct me or give me advice on baking
iām a fucking pastry chef
met a dude at a party who was talking about physics and asked if iād ever listened to any online physics lectures bc he listened to all of this one series and they were so helpful and maybe i could learn some physics too
i have a degree in physics
and am a published coauthor in astrophysics
theĀ best part is that the woman who invented the termĀ āmansplainingā (her name is Rebecca Solnit and i highly recommend her collection of essays) came up with it when she was at a party one night and a man tried to explain a book to her, and wouldnāt let her speak long enough for her to tell him that
she wrote the bloody book he was mansplaining to her
You know I have plenty examples of this but that last one takes the cake so imma just let it be.
Trump racism poisons all his decisions. Trump can never acknowledge black excellence.
Whatās his name and whatād he do? I wanna look him up
Rodney Robinson's mom grew up during segregation and wasn't able to graduate from high school due to poverty. Still, she taught him to value
Iām glad you asked! Read more about Rodney Robinson here! This man is a treasure.
there are actors that people refer to as shapeshifters bc theyve played in so many movies in which they look nothing like their other parts and then. thereās michael sheen.
I see this and I raise you: Stanley Tucci
It took me years to connect all his roles, theyāre so wildly different. His talent prevents him from being more appreciated because nobody realizes itās him everytime
I realize itās him, but only cuz Iāve lowkey been obsessed with Stanley Tucci since I saw him in A Midsummer Nightās Dream.
People on here will be like āoooh hozier has fae energyā, āmy last brain cellā, ā Iām going feralā, āoooh Iām gonna steal your teeth opā and honestly Iām glad you goofballs are having fun instead of being assholes to eachother
Bold of you to assume Iām not actually gonna steal your teeth, op
gays are bad at math because instead of spreading it evenly so all gays are moderately competent at math the talent is heavily concentrated into a chosen few but it takes a long time to recharge The Math Gay Battery which is why Isaac Newton and Jon Lovett were born 300 years apart
Alan Turing cost us 100 years of math skills
Sounds legit to me.
