what people don’t understand about how adhd is disabling is that it’s not just getting temporarily distracted from, like, school work or hobbies. it’s getting distracted/being unable to motivate yourself to go to the doctor, eat regularly, do hygiene tasks, etc. it’s not knowing when or how long it will take you to do something, ANYTHING, and in many cases that thing is taking a shower or keeping your house from turning into a biohazard. it’s about being fundamentally incapable of controlling your attention and focus on anything, even and especially things you need to do to survive.

Relooted is a good one. Shout out Nyamakop for making this game, I think it it's an excellent way to start conversations around Repatriation among folks outside of my circle. Also !!! THE ART, MAN, THE ARTTTTTT

There's also Sword Of Symphony, though it's still in development (it's literally just one guy doing everything)

I like the way that game is literally just. Playing w music notations. It feels like a music conservatory theory exam final boss. Like great, you passed everything. Okay now play Sword Of Symphony. XD

We can't forget South Of Midnight, of course. Absolutely love that game for its world building (once again, the ARTTTTTT), the storytelling, the CHARACTER & COSTUME DESIGN OUGHHHHHHH

Aaaaaand off the top of my head (for now), Hell Clock !!

I'm not well versed in Brazilian history, and the only reason I discovered this game is bc I like roguelikes. And boom, this game throws historical events at you and throws some fantasy in there as well, with a side of black Brazilian hoodoo and EYE, for one, am a fan. If you liked Hades & its sequel you would like this too. Heck, if you liked Sinners and you dabble in games here n there you would like this too.

Freedom : Rebels in the darkness. A(n older but still relevant) game wherein the player gets a glimpse of life during slavery in Martinique from the POV of a black person. the creator of this game did not soften the narrative to make this more palatable to a wider audience and EYE, for one, appreciate that.

On a much lighter, and much less serious topic, there is the game Error 143 where you get to romance a (queer) black guy who happens to be a hacker and is really silly and full of whimsy. Personally, I appreciate whenever we get to have a dating game where the whole point is to date a person and that person happens to be black (and queer). I genuinely love that.

on a more fantastical note, we have RUIN : BEAST CITY ! The game's demo is currently out, and the mechanics are (imo) a little rough but once you get the hang of it, you are UNSTOPPABLEEEEE. Shout out to Adama (he is the main character, seen below) bc if I had to fight Gilgamesh on my FIRST DAY ON THE JOB i'd instantly quit. but he didn't. Big props for that. I will say, the world building in this game is really neat. If you liked the combat pacing in Sorry We're Closed, you might like this game too.

Speaking of Sorry We're Closed. We got a diverse team behind that game, including CB, a queer black artist who did an EXCELLENT JOB on everything they worked on. it's going to make 2 years this year and I'm still not over this game. while the game itself is not black focused, I still want to shout it out because at the end of the day, we love black art. Also, shout out Clarissa and Beloved. They did nothing wrong, ever.

am i the only one who lowkey hates when people post tumblr fics on tiktok because then everyone is giving their unsolicited opinion on fanart.

i just saw a tiktok that was like “me after reading the worse fic that everyone over hypes” and it’s so fucking weird because fanfiction is inherently self indulgent if you want to read something you consider a “masterpiece” then write it yourself but sending hate towards to a stranger that WRITES shit for FREE on the internet will always be weird.

then when people delete their blogs everyone’s so shocked …

you screenshotted a fic posted it on the most POPULAR app in the world and then is surprised when the writer gets upset and leaves

stop harassing writers this is legit the same thing that happened on wattpad!

i hate to sound like a gatekeeper but fandom being exposed to normies is one of the worst things that have happened. not saying people can’t join a fandom but it’s opened the door for people who feel comfortable making fun of others for their interest’s!

i've lived in four different cities in my adult life and talked to literally tens of thousands of people about politics and the change they want to see in the world and the overwhelming majority of them wanted life to be better, happier, easier for everyone, and dreamed of that world. the only people who didn't think that way were A) really obviously in need of mental/medical care, or B) rich.

wanting universal free healthcare, well-funded public education, and social support for all people is the most unbelievably normie opinion that exists, even among people who have lots of bad or misguided opinions about other things. when you feel alone, know that the reason you feel that way is billions of dollars are being spent to obscure the fact that you are in the majority.

I think I am officially Fandom Old. I am so worn out from the arguments on who's the top or the bottom (who cares), what is allowed to be written (anything you want, bejeebus), what is Problematic (I know, just tag it), what other people Should Do (they Should live their lives free of judgment). There isn't a Right Way to do things. Tag your stuff appropriately, don't read stuff you don't want to read, and leave other people (me) alone.

going to completely brush the whole “billionaires get to commit sex crimes so we should also be able to!” thing under the rug for a second. this illustrates one of the most infuriating things about this website. people just think about everything in terms of fanfiction. i remember hearing people on here talk about project 2025, and the point they kept bringing up was “THEY’RE GOING TO MAKE FANFICTION ILLEGAL!” i always think… do you people have any fucking problems outside of fanfiction? you’d think that they would at least say something like “i’d like to marry someone i love someday” or “i’d like to be openly gay at work” but these people don’t have jobs or lovers. all they’ve got is good omens fanfiction.
