no matter how normalised it gets I will die on the hill that it is rude to record strangers in public without their consent
adhd is such a humiliating disease to have ones life ruined by
welcome to the black parade has been cast so thoroughly as this stereotypical emo anthem and then you listen to it and it's like no you guys don't get it this is so fucking good
acrobatic squirrel
This squirrel attempted to jump a full six feet (yes, I measured) from a nearby bush to the bird feeder. Its first two misses were spectacular, so much so that when it made it on the third try, I let it hang out and eat as many peanuts as it wanted.
(I'm sorry I didn't manage to get the leaps to sync up, but I've already spent quite a lot of time turning the video into gifs that'll upload here, so.)
social interactions and especially "what people really think of you" is one of the human experiences most strongly vulnerable to delusion and hysteria and this is easy to observe by the fact that we all encounter dozens of people a year who are absolutely convinced we relate to them in a certain way when it's actually the opposite. it's rare, outside of pure psychosis, to encounter this kind of delusional thinking in others in a way where you can reality check it yourself and know FOR SURE they are not perceiving reality. i think this is one of the foundational aspects of "social anxiety" both subjective and at the level of clinical severity that is a "disorder".
in the usa at least, and as an adult, situations where people who are your peers--and which don't involve, eg, direct class violence or racism etc between oppressed populations and oppressors--hate you or are mad at you, like to the point of spending energy on it beyond brief annoyance, especially in group settings, are exceedingly rare in real life, and this is because you just dont matter enough for people to waste that kind of energy on you. the other side of this, the people from neglected child backgrounds who find it impossible to accept that they already have friends and people who like them, end up driving others away by constantly reality checking the relationship and demanding reassurance while taking as rote that everyone is ignoring them. again, people are not ignoring you, you just arent able to interpret the obvious signs of someone noticing you exist and deriving psychological reassurance from it
both of these situations require adopting an attitude of "none of this matters very much and i need to chill out" which is extremely difficult obviously. sitting with that inadequacy of your own perception is the hardest thing to do. "well im not telepathic so i'll never know for sure". but if you DONT chill out, you make things progressively worse. so you have to try
I firmly believe that all identities are relational and formed through partaking in certain sets of actions. I also think when you’re isolated it’s very easy to lose track of who You are. I think this is why so many lonely/isolated people end up obsessing over labels and label discourse. it’s one of the only processes of identity formation you can partake in by yourself, in your bedroom. this is not meant as a value judgement, just as an observation as someone who was that lonely label-obsessed kid in the past
whenever youre wasting time on job applications always remember youre ALSO wasting someone else's time. so it's not all bad. going down, hand in unlovable hand, with an anonymous HR manager
we must try to find some small joy in this life because it is actually all we have

simply cannot ever resist what i call the little mermaid or the tin man or the pinnochio plot, the one about a character who is either inhuman or human but outside in some way, constantly searching for whatever it is that they consider to be the quintessential proof of humanity, preoccupied by it so deeply that they fail to realize the proof is in the act and fact of the search itself

MAYBE WE’LL FIND IT IF WE BOTH LOOK
starting the countdown until gaylors start saying that Adam Sandler officiating Taylor's wedding (sorry if this is how you found out) is actually proof that it's a sham because it's a reference to I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry (2007), in which Sandler and Kevin James play heterosexual men who enter a mutually beneficial fake gay marriage, a dynamic that Taylor is inverting as a queer woman pretending to be straight while cleverly flagging the obvious farce to those with the eyes to see
this is worst than finding out from a castiel meme
The way no one’s surprised 😭
"drug seeking" as a patient label one of the most dogshit stupid concepts of all time. fuuuck everybody look out this guy came in here expecting medical treatment. better watch out in case he goes to a restaurant and starts food seeking
