I follow the "leave nothing but footprints take nothing but photos" rule of state/national parks yeah because conservation. But also because when I was 11 i read a short story about a girl who went to a museum and stole a bandage flake off a mummy on display with the mentality of "im just one person one piece won't be missed" then at night she was visited by the mummy and it plucked a single hair from her head and then the next night a different mummy took another hair and she realized that there were only so many pieces to her before there would be nothing left and that story was forever wedged in my brain. Anyways leave cool rocks where you find them or the mummies will get you
month starting on a monday we have no excuse guys lets get to work and lock the fuck in
yk its actually very chic and avant garde to start on tuesday the second
many claim theres nothing more subversive and revolutionary than starting on wednesday the third
there are simply no words in the english language that can describe starting on thursday the fourth. thats how iconic it is
choosing to start on friday the fifth. i just think its very inspiring
lets all kill ourselves

jellyfish have to be kept in a round tank because if they're in a tank with corners they'll get stuck in them. I think that's beautiful. god's stupidest little plastic bags (affectionate)
Also when being bred in captivity(this is done at my work and my job is to teach people about it) to get them to reproduce from the polyp stage of life, we have to intentionally cause them enough stress to reproduce but not enough to harm them. Lately we’ve done that by cleaning their habitat extra well, makes them think the word is ending

I don’t know if this is an obvious take or a hot take, but I think people need to start re-framing feminism as the fight for body autonomy as opposed to whatever this second wave revival gender essentialist bullshit we have going on right now. Once you reframe it in this way, it’s easier to understand intersectionality and why cis women are not the only people who need feminism. The lack of body autonomy effects cis women, trans people, intersex people, disabled people, poc, homeless people, sex workers, etc. and your feminism needs to include and prioritise all of these groups of people (which will include men btw) because feminism is about autonomy, not about establishing a matriarchy. Body autonomy is the biggest threat to the patriarchy, both with reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and even the right to not be drafted into military services. Once body autonomy is established for everyone, the patriarchy no longer has a leg to stand on.
And body autonomy does include things that you don’t personally like either. I was prompted to write this post after a series of bad takes from progressives, but one of them was re-hashing the Sabrina Carpenter album cover drama with “I don’t think it’s conservative of me to think that the album cover is a bad look when we’ve seen images of women being abused in this way” because I do actually think you’ve failed to understand feminism by projecting your morals onto a woman who was consensually expressing her own autonomy just because she expressed it in a way that you didn’t like or that made you uncomfortable.
Body autonomy also means unhealthy choices. Body autonomy also means regret rates. Body autonomy also means freedom of sexuality. Body autonomy also means mutilation. If you believe body autonomy has limitations and exceptions, then your feminism is most likely surface level.
TERFs are some of the biggest opponents to body autonomy, and if you find yourself thinking “oh people can do whatever they want with their bodies as long as it doesn’t harm them or make others uncomfortable” then you are far more susceptible to TERF propaganda than you think.
ooooh the radfems are BIG mad about this one
I'm gonna tell you something that a lot of you won't like, because I've had this conversation many times before so I'm familiar with the reactions, but if you live in a so-called "first-world" country you are still and have always been benefitting from colonialism. The rights and nice every day things you have, your walkable, environmentally "friendly" cities, train systems, etc. are things that turn into privileges in those other category countries and your country and your government are directly responsible for it. In my case, I'm from Mexico, and right now the local people of the Bahía de Ohuira, in Sinaloa, are fighting against attempts by swiss-german company PROMAN AG to build an ammonia factory in its territory, threatening local wild life and local people's livelihoods under the old lie of foreign investment as progress.
If it's such a good thing, if it's so progressive, why don't these countries build them in their own territories, why don't they poison their own water with them? This is just one example of something that happens every day, the global north constantly extracting resources from the rest of the world and then spouting their holier-than-thou environmental bullshit. In my state Canadian mining companies have been draining the land, kicking locals out of their homes, and murdering local people and activists who dare raise their voice for decades, luckily people are finally sick of it and more and more are fighting these sort of projects, defending natural resources and demanding our government stop opening the door for these modern day colonizers. I am very mad right now but please believe me when I say that these words are not meant to make you, the individual, feel guilty, just be aware of what your trains, forest lands, clean air and comfort cost the rest of the world. Be aware of and question where your governments are "investing" and why. It's not us vs you, it's all of us vs a capitalist system that cares about nothing and no one beyond money.
Yesterday people, particularly indigenous communities who are leading the project against the ammonia factory because they are the most affected, went to protest in front of the German embassy and I hope they fucking listen and take their trash away.
THE GLOBAL SOUTH IS NOT THE DUMPING GROUND FOR YOUR WASTE!!!
Everytime this gets a note when its nowhere near christmas I question my sanity just a little bit more
No, it is July, stop that, stop giving this notes, you guys have lost reblogging privileges
World Heritage Post
If the trash pickup people stop doing their job for two weeks you'd be throwing a fucking tantrum. Same for the janitors who keep your office spaces and bathrooms clean. (And that's before the various illnesses start to spread all over your city from the build up of pathogens.)
The people responsible keeping our spaces clean (and thus, mostly disease-free) should both be paid more AND thanked more.
Was driving with my grandmother and in broken English she says “no eyes… no nose… no face. Don’t trust.” To which I looked around wildly in search of this omen of ill portend.
Cybertruck. It was a cybertruck.
mind you before sinners we didn’t have definitive proof that it was possible to successfully make a movie in 2025
I know I sound like your mom but you kids need to stop fucking vaping
1) Vaping is confirmed to cause cancer. Vaping coats the lungs with toxic substances, such as heavy metals and benzene, which are known to cause cancer
2) Many vapes contain diacetyl, which, when inhaled causes popcorn lung, or scarring of the lung
3) Ultrafine particles, when being inhaled, can be lodged in the trachea (not good!)
4) Ultrafine particles can also constrict the arteries in the lungs potentially causing A HEART ATTACK
5) Vaping is relatively new. Not much studies have been done in comparison to tobacco. Plus, the vaping companies are powerful people. There is a large chance that they are purposely downplaying and even burying any evidence that vaping is harmful - just like the tobacco companies before them. They do not care about you, or your health, or the truth. They only care for money
Also STOP VAPING INDOORS AROUND OTHER PEOPLE. Holy shit, if you're gonna wreck your lungs at least give me the option not to wreck mine.
It’s such an issue that the MTA had to run a campaign about it
yeah okay ill reblog that
Please I’m begging yall as an asthmatic, your fruit-flavored vapor will still give people around you who are smoke-sensitive attacks. So will weed. Don’t do it inside; if you’re at a bus stop or something try to not stand right next to people or move downwind of them if you can.
how are we feeling, friends??
