DM Tip: The Debt Always Comes Due
Isn't it weird how little we engage with gold as a real gameplay system? Sure, at low level wealth makes a great questhook, the party is usually hurting for a payout so that they can afford necessary gear upgrades/ubiquitous healing potion restocks/their next trip to the magic item shop. After a while though the promise of raw wealth loses its lustre, and the party is less likely to go out of their way to accept bounties, go off chasing treasuremaps, or accept gigs from shady patrons.
Generally I'd advise that this is a sign that your party are done being run of the mill sellswords, and it's time to hit them with a big epic questline that's focused more on emotional and narrative stakes than base currency. That said, sometimes you want to run a longer adventure arc that's centred around the acquisition of wealth, but to do that, you're going to need to go against the grain on one of the foundational assumptions that underpins D&D both mechanically and narratively.
TLDR: If you want your party to be motivated by gold past their first big pay off you should consider using a "wealth hurdle", which in short is a narrative and gameplay challenge that forces them to collect not only more gold than they already have but also more gold than they could get doing what they've been doing so far. This can be anything from a crimelord calling in a debt on them or one of their allies, a powerful monster swooping in and demanding tribute, comissioning some grand construction, or funding the defence of a region. Having the hurdle active should cause problems for the party, and not clearing the hurdle before a perdetermiend deadline will immensely bad things to happen. This will force the party to take risks they otherwise wouldn't, giving a high degree of focus to their subsequent adventures that they wouldn't have if they were content.

Imagine the ikemen sengoku guys with a viking mc. Like she's more muscular than them and does the throwing tree trunk stuff? š
Oh yes. She just tosses giant trunks around like chopsticks and there is Nobunaga, Kenshin and Kennyo just questioning everything they know. You can see the tiny brain cell bouncing from one to the other as the consider the uses and options of her abilities. Girl just getting mad and swinging whole tables around to stop Kenshin from fighting people. Nobunaga suddenly drinking massive amounts of respect women juice cause dear hell he will not wake up if she decides to toss one at him
i watched one (1) video on how to draw hands that changed my life forever. like. i can suddenly draw hands again
these were all drawn without reference btw. i can just. Understand Hands now (for the most part, im sure theres definitely inaccuracies). im a little baffled
for those of u asking for the vid!
I'm curious. Reblog this if you know how to cook
I donāt even care if itās macaroni, ramen or those little bowls you stick in the microwave. Please, I need reassurance that most of the population on tumblr WOULDNāT STARVE TO DEATH if their parents couldnāt fix them food or they couldnāt go out to eat.Ā
I'm decent with cookingš . Much better if you give me a recipie whether it'd from google or a written one, be savory or baking, at least I'll be able to follow the exact measurements. š

have fun w/ this
Danny Fenton is so damn sick of rich fruit loops. Itās worse now, since heās one of them.
Itās not Vlad that heās with, thank the Ancients, but Danny isnāt sure that this is better.
Because heās Timothy Drake, a baby, and heās been reincarnated after the Ancient of Reincarnation accidentally drank too much wine.
Heās going to kick their ass so hard when he gets back.
Danny huffs. He rolls over, ignoring the silent manor. Sure, heās read the comics. Sure, he laughed and imagined being adopted by Batman- come on, Danny had black hair and blue eyes even back then, he was totally adoption bait- when his parents gave him reason to lose trust in their love. But thatās it, thatās all he thought it was. A day dream, a wish for a universe that didnāt exist.
Danny hadnāt understood the reality of the whole Infinite Realms thing, a place he was now the King of. Batman? Real. Danny? Reincarnated. Hotel? Trivago.
Like, this wasnāt what he meant, dammit.
And now heās stuck as Timothy Drake, and Ancients, he was starting to see parallels.
āā
Danny tried photography. He really did. He wanted to at least stick to the source material. But thatās not who he is. Even with the shiny new brain that memorized, catalogued, and put together clues at the snap of his fingers, but Dannyās never been one to take photos. Itās a respectable art, for sure, but Danny preferred to live in the moment instead of capturing it to remember forever. Itās just-
He watched the Graysons fall. He watched Dick Grayson turn into Robin. And Danny canāt and wonāt ever betray his Obsession like that, ever again. He canāt let Jason die for his āstoryā to begin. Thatās not how Danny works.
Heās there to protect.
Danny hasnāt ever been just Tim. Danny was also Tim and the Ghost King without a haunt. But now? Gotham is his haunt. He, in lieu of an actual city spirit, is Gotham. Heās also a Drake. And Drakes were meant to hoard.
Batman and Robin? They are his.
He claimed them, as a Drake. But that claim is weak. So he claimed them as their city, and that is a claim that will never be able to be challenged.
Dannyāll be damned before he allows some lanky starved clown beat the life out of one of his Robins. So, for the first time in his nine years on this planet, Tim-Danny goes ghost and flies.
āWho- who. Are you?ā Robin slurred from his place in Dannyās hold. He is broken, yes. But not dead. Danny infuses some of his vitality, his ecto, into Jasonās injuries to help them heal.
āGotham.ā Danny replied, layering his ghostly voice with those of the city.
āGothām?ā
āGotham. Sleep, little bird. Your city has got you.ā
When Robin, Jason, settled with a sense of trust that tugs at Dannyās core, Danny carried him to Batman, whose eyes were wild and manic. He glared menacingly at the green and white ghost in front of him, who was holding his broken and beaten son-
Well, itād be menacing if Danny hadnāt watched him eat bricks and mortar, crashing into a building while using his grappling gun.
āYou-ā
āI am Gotham.ā Danny cut him off. Despite his wary nature and natural paranoia, Batman settled at his cityās gaze rested on him. Danny knew that Batman recognized his city. Batmanās head bowed, but his eyes stayed on Robin. āYou were supposed to take care of Robin.ā
āI- I know.ā And that voice was all Bruce Wayne the Dad instead of Batman the Vigilante. Danny gently placed Robin in Batmanās arms, taking in the tremors as he held his son close.
āGo back, Bruce. And make sure Jason knows how much you love him.ā
He laughed as Bruce whipped his head upwards. āI am your city. You are mine as much as I am yours. Iāve known of you before you were born.ā
Technically? Not untrue. But Bruce will chalk it up to weird magic shit. Itās not like itās a secret that Gothamās kind of curse. Besides, this way, Danny will be able to help out more often. And Bruce wonāt be able to connect Tim Drake to the āSpirit of Gotham.ā
āReturn, my knight. This is not your city. I can not protect you as well as I can in Gotham.ā
āThank you⦠Gotham.ā
Danny sighed. He wondered when heāll have to field questions from a John Constantine. Heās pretty sure Bruce will call in magical help, even if it was his own city he was investigating.
Batmanās lucky Danny liked him enough to allow it.

Your most important survival skill is asking for help
Goddamn preach this
"Your most important survival skill is asking for help." THIS, it makes me so damn pissed off when parents try and normalize that asking for help is a taboo thing!

1d6 Annoying City Constructs
1. Little homunculus whoās always popping up and asking if you can spare a few bucks. 2. Sentient traffic light that loudly voices its opinions on everyoneās bad driving. 3. Talking four-handed hot dog cart that uses his juggling skills to try to upsell the extra large sausages. 4. Living trash can thatās constantly butting in to strangersā conversations to ask āhey, you gonna finish that?ā 5. Automaton whose sole task is to walk very slowly down the middle of the sidewalk. 6.Tour-giving robot that hassles people on the street until someone pays for a tour of the city.
This makes me think of Aballon, the first planet in Pathfinderās main solar system. Itās populated by all kinds of robots, who soak in the solar energy and upgrade themselves with new pieces and inventions when they can.
Seems like these machines are designed for a world with organic folk in it, though. Ever made a city in your game setting that had lots of constructs as part of everyday life? They could be alchemical cyborgs, programmed clockwork devices, even runic computer cores in a clay shell.
Idea: play a campaign where the party is a group of abandoned robots, looking for people to help. They wander across a lonely and overgrown city, encountering other robots (with varying levels of friendliness and⦠glitching? Sanity?) Maybe thereās even a time limit, some code or repair that only a sentient organic being can perform to save one or all of the group.
You could make this as violent or as peaceful as you want - anything from āThe Roadā to āA Psalm For The Wild-Builtā. Maybe they find humans, maybe they donāt. But I think a likely outcome is āthe real people were us all alongā.
This looks cool! Itās (currently) free on dtrpg so if you like this idea, definitely grab it. (Iāve downloaded it, havenāt had a chance to really dig into the rules yet.)

I cannot stress this enough, write it poorly. Write the shittiest draft you possibly can, stick 'ah fuck something happens here and now they're fighting' to get over
Write the worst fucking version you possibly can and stick it in a folder and forget it for a month or two before you look at it again. You know what you have now?
A first draft. And with enough time to think some new thoughts about it, you'll soon end up with a better, second draft! And eventually, you'll end up with something you'd be perfectly okay with letting other people read!
You'll never believe this process works no matter how many times you do it, but it totally does. You just have to drag your brain kicking and screaming to that blank page and get the bones down first.
Write the shit out of that shit.
Damn.
Here it goes nothing.
