They were together around a year of in universe time. I get he didn't focus on it much, but yeah, sometimes relationships burn for a while then die or change.

And it did showcase a little what Jasnah would want out of a relationship, and how Wit, secretive and outwardly frivolous, can't really deliver.

It was my understanding that Honor didn't create the bond, but simply bound it in rules when the Humans and Spren found it out. Cultivation may have been involved as well.

I'm reading through the one star reviews of Yumi and the Nightmare painter and OH MY GOD

The sheer number of people who probably DNFed this book because of the "narrator" being annoying/condescending/long-winded is HILARIOUS

Wit is actively giving Brandon Sanderson a bad name, I didn't realize people who weren't familiar with our walking clown show would probably be uncomfortable with him talking down to you.

Guess it's good to be reminded. I like Hoid, but that's because I'm accustomed to his manner, and have read enough of the Cosmere to recognize his tidbits. But he is the most self centered, self absorbed, vain, and annoying person in the Cosmere.

I just read Ishikk interlude , the purelakes one ,so two things , the fish definitely are invested right? Maybe from spren or something else but they do show special abilities, and could the religion of the purelake be something of Honor and Odium? It mentions a jealous brother that demands devotion instead of his brother, whom the Purelake can only mention in secret. Do y'all think there's something there or just overthinking?

My personal belief is that you have it right. The fish are heavily implied to be invested in some way, and the normal way on Roshar for that to happen is a Spren interaction. I assume the religion to be passed down from Singers who at some point integrated into the people of the Purelake, like groups did with the Thaylens, Horneaters, and Herdazians. The "Sacred Grotto" may imply that Cultivation was involved in the Singers who broke away from Odium.

I had a little time to think about the contest of champions, and I have my own theory of who Odium's champion may be. This is based on the assumption that Odium's champion needs to have a pre-existing Connection to him, which, to me, discounts the Gavinor theory. I do think that's along the right lines though. Odium knows Dalinar better now, given their conversations, and this fits the Death Rattle we believe to be relevant. A child, but a Singer child. Dalinar likely won't be able to kill an innocent child, no matter the species. But that doesn't mean he necessarily loses the contest, not immediately. It's to the death, but I don't recall a time limit. This would leave having fulfilled the beginning of the contact, but it would be in limbo until one of them dies. Maybe. Granted, I'm not the best theorist.

If there's anything I've learned about the D&D fandom over the past couple of years, they hate rules heavy systems that require you to read hundreds of pages, they think combat and roleplaying are opposites and prefer roleplay to combat, and they think if you demonstrate system mastery (i.e. know the rules) you should be beaten to death with sticks.

Which is to say that the D&D fandom doesn't actually like D&D as it exists in the books.

The problem I run into more often is players being invested enough to claim they want to play a TTRPG (any of them, this issue isn't d&d specific), but not being invested enough to bother learning the rules. Or sometimes even reading any portion of the books.

On the flipside, I've had hardcore players that will "um actually" half the things anyone tries to do, because it isn't optimal by the rules.

Both are hard to play with, and can sometimes clash with bad results.

My projects tend to balloon, especially because I have an easy time programming and implementing systems, compared to writing plot and characters. For example, I've decided to add variable weather to my game, not very hard given I already track time, and I don't even have what I would consider a decent Demo/Showcase. Almost though. I may be able to get the demo done before I get too sidetracked by weather.

I need to find a way to interact with people more. I have a bad habit of getting into a holding pattern when left to myself, just kinda waiting for the next thing instead of pushing for something I want. Apathy, my main bane. Life is so much more vibrant when I have ample opportunity to just, be with people with no expectation, chat about nothing, and everything. Wanting doesn't come as naturally to me as it seems to for most.

I've been programming a game for the last 8 months, and it's been a good example to me of how I learn. All of it starts with wanting a result. Last thing I programmed was all in text, I wanted graphics, and searched out how to achieve that. I wanted the map to wrap around as you traversed it, so I wrote that. It also started to get large quickly. My maps started as a handwritten dataset, tile by tile. I realized this was untenable when I wanted a map 100x100 tiles, which would require 10,000 lines, so I programmed a secondary project which would let me enter then with a drop down menu. Which required me to learn how to have a dropdown. This has spun into three programs, the game itself, a program to write the map, and a program that will take the map data and output an image of how it will appear in game. It's been an adventure.

Anyway, I can't write a plot worth beans, so this may go nowhere, but it's fun. 🙃

You know what I found interesting? Stormlight Archive is all about oaths BUT it never mentions (to my recollection) Lirin taking a Rosharan version of the Hippocratic oath. Maybe if the radiants didn’t only come around in times of war and they could be full time healers that sort of thing would exist?

It has an oblique reference in Rhythm of War, Lirin tells Kaladin "I have taken Oaths not to harm". That's the only time it comes up to my knowledge, and the circumstances are grim.

Post-RoW, I am confused about something. Did Odium kill Honor's shard and not only the host? Thought process that confused me was, Odium kill Honor, Honor splintered, but Tarabitch kill Odium, Tarabitch become Odium? Did I miss something here? Why did Taravangian become Odium, but no one became Honor?

Odium specifically splintered Honor after killing the Vessel. I believe it's the kind of act requiring a huge amount of Investiture, so we've only seen other shards do it before.
