snowball fights
hi! so it's first time i wrote something marauders related, and what's more important it's first time i'm posting my work here. i'm aware it's not great, but i hope you'll like it anyway. enjoy xx a.
regulus liked spending his free time in hogwarts' library. he especially liked sitting on the windowsill where he could see the grounds. he spent there whole days but rarely reading. he was too busy watching people who decided to go out. he was the most interested in one specific group of four friends.
the marauders
this way he felt like he was a part of sirius' "new life" even though he always watched them it the distance.
until that one special day
it was saturday, not long before christmas. it was snowing the whole night and everything outside was white. perfect weather for snowball battles. the marauders, especially sirius, wouldn't let an opportunity like slip through their fingers. so he sat at his regular place and waited, waited for sirius and his friends to start throwing snowballs at each other.
oh, how regulus wanted to be a part of the marauders. how he wanted to be important for someone.
his fingers slowly tapped on the transfiguration book he took with himself to the library only because one of the boys from his dormitory asked why he's planning to spend there the entire day. the book laid open on his lap. he read it just to kill time while waiting for four gryffindors. well, at least until he stopped at one specific word.
vanish what would happen if one day regulus black just vanish? would his mother cry after him? would anyone cry? more important, would anyone notice he's gone? probably not
suddenly something hit the window. regulus put the book down and looked at the window confused, then decided to open it and find out what happened. at the exact moment when his head was outside, something hit his face - snowball. regulus looked down and saw silhouettes of the marauders.
"oi, baby black! wants to play with us and throw some snowballs at your stupid brother?" he focused on the boy that was talking. james potter, sirius' best friend and a boy who regulus secretly admired for a while now.
regulus met the marauders but only separately. james potter at the quidditch's pitch, remus lupin at the library and peter pettigrew at the hospital wing. and now he had an opportunity to actually meet the marauders as a unity.
"either i'm deaf or you're not answering me!" said james, getting regulus' focus back.
"what?" asked regulus still a little off guard.
"do you want to be a part of our snowball fight, reg?" asked sirius. surprisingly his voice wasn't as loud as james' but there was hope in it. regulus looked at this brother for a moment then slowly shook his head.
the wave of warm feeling flooded his body as he answered “i thought you’ll never ask, siri. give me few minutes.” he closed the window and picked up his books.
before he left the library, he looked once more through the window, just to see his brother hugging james with a bright smile.
regulus couldn’t help to smile himself.
there was someone who cared about him, after all.
