The time-wasting bullshit of requiring a face to face appointment for referrals is so fucking pernicious. It delays necessary care for no goddamn good reason. If I'm established at the specialist and going in there for an ongoing issue, I should not need a referral for them to treat me for that issue. It just wastes one of my MAYBE two appointment/transportation slots I have in a month and always means I don't get seen for weeks longer than necessary.
