various tv, film, and theater producers for the last 50 years smacking themselves in the forehead like fuuuuck how can we make it easy to understand why carrie is alienated from her peers and callously bullied at school WITHOUT making her a hideous fatass like in the book

The simple power “No.” has can’t be understated. It’s especially fun those first few times someone hears it. When they’re forced to contend with the reality that everything they’ve taken for granted is now something they need to request. Something they’ll need to beg for.
“No, you’re not wearing that outfit.” I’m going to send them back to change again and again until their dress suits my tastes. Makeup, hair, even the jewelry and perfume they wear will be changed and decided outside what they thought was correct, or was their preference.
Personally, my favorite’s always the shock in their eyes when you drag them off the couch that first time. “Animals need permission to sit on furniture.” Even when they ask, the answer will be “No.” They’ll sit on the floor, by my feet where an animal should be. I want them close to me, where I just need to reach out to feel the top of their head. There’s a pout at first, but eventually they always relax and settle their head against my leg.
Even something so simple as leaving my side to go to the bathroom has to be requested, and that is denied with a simple “No.” No, they don’t get to decide something so basic as that. I hate doggie doors, and I’m not ready to get up yet, so no. They’ll stay put, only able to hope with mounting desperation that I’ll take pity on them as they squirm.
I’m training them to hesitate.
When getting ready for a date, their mind should be focused on me, my tastes, and how I enjoy seeing them dressed and presented. When guided to a chair in a restaurant, their first instinct should be to look to me, to hesitate, until I’ve nodded my head and given them permission.
The end goal, of course, is for that hesitation to eventually vanish. Training becomes second nature, ingrained to the point it’s closer to reflex. The worry over the decisions they used to fret over, becomes confidence as they learn to follow my lead without a second thought.
I’m not allowing them the anxiety of choice.

to anyone in the areas impacted by the wildfire smoke, my #1 biggest piece of advice as someone whos been dealing with wildfire smoke in the NW united states for years, is build yourself a Corsi-Rosenthal Cube
they perform as well as expensive HEPA air cleaners, and are comparatively VERY inexpensive. all you need is a box fan, 4 air filters, a piece of cardboard, and some duct tape!!!!
i think it took us maybe a half hour to put ours together, if that, and we replace the filters every 3 months. it's really made a HUGE difference, both when the air quality is bad, but also with our allergies
Saw these easy to read instructions on Twitter. Stay safe 💚
Also just a handy, DIY air filter in general, if a bit bulky. For a less bulky and cheaper (but also less effective) solution, you can simply tape one filter to the fan, cut a shroud if you'd like.
just FYI, this is quite literally what the climate scientists at my work who specialized in wildfire smoke impacts recommend. it works great, it's cheap to make, and it will make a noticeable impact on your air quality.
i have asthma & keep one of these running in my room perpetually. after I set it up the difference in my sleep quality was pretty much night and day. Dont waste your time on proprietary air filters; SIMPLY bust out the duct tape
Minecraft caves are so dark bro…
Hey so it’s come to my attention that this account is stealing my posts from like 2 years ago? Super odd behavior. Why are you trying to engagement farm on tumblr?
Not everyone can easily come up with ideas for things to post every day
then just don't??
you obviously dont have 100+ followers and need to keep them happy
i didnt realize the situation you were in and i apologize for the callout
can youguys do me a favor and send a lot of hate mail to this user
Chickens love to peck at hard things to make a variety of interesting sounds and my new ladies have just discovered The Tin Fence.
They're also a big fan of Chipped Ceramic Plate if you feel like experimenting
Ooh I have some leftover floor tile fragments, I should give them some of those.
I've seen people give their chooks kids you xylophones and they love them!!
Mine are a big fan of sealed plastic bucket of water sealant paint that we haven't moved yet.
My old hens loved Window and every day I feel blessed that my new ones haven't discovered it yet.
Mine have an old mirror, parrot toy with tiny bell, metal toy pan. All of these things make fun sounds when pecked 👍
I should get them a wind chime
Idk you may quickly regret Wind Chime
I regret my chickens every day
TIL any chicken coop can be an entire all-percussion orchestra bangin out the tunes
Reblogging this a second time bc my baby girls got a new xylophone and I have to share it with the class
Banging out some tunes fr
