You are the deadliest thing in the kingdom, and you would trade all of it for her saying you did well.
Good Knight is a solo roleplaying game about being a queen's sword and a queen's dog. One player, two mismatched dice, a pencil, and a service that runs six acts and twenty to thirty evenings.
HOW IT PLAYS
There are two beasts wearing your armor. The hound would die for her. The wolf would kill for her. Every time something matters you roll both dice, look at both, and keep one — and the better number is very often sitting right there on the table, waiting to see what kind of knight you are.
The whole skill of the game is temperance. Stay dangerous enough to be worth keeping, controlled enough to be safe to keep. Drift too far toward the teeth and you stop being able to choose. Drift too far toward the fire and she stops needing you. Both are endings. Both are love.
THE QUEEN
She has no character sheet, because you do not get to know her the way you know a sword. She has six faces instead — the General, the Saint, the Winter Court, the Huntress, the Judge, the Ember — one for each act, each with her own commands, her own praise, her own tells, and her own rules about when she will let you off the leash. There is a seventh face that opens only from her side, and you will not be shown it until you are shown it.
WHAT YOU GET — three instant-download PDFs
⚔ The book (60 pages) — the engine, character creation, a scripted first errand that teaches the whole game by playing it, seven authored chapters of her, the errand generator, ranks and oaths, and seven endings ⚔ The Reliquary (2 pages) — a reusable pencil-and-eraser character sheet: the leash track, the shelf of things she has given you, the ruled lines for things she has said to you recorded word for word, and a 36-session chronicle on the reverse ⚔ The play aid (2 pages) — every rule you need mid-scene, with page references, so the book can stay shut
INSIDE THE BOOK
A push-your-luck errand system — every scene asks one more, or home? • The Leash, an eleven-box track with a failure state at both ends • Ranks that climb by what she calls you: "You. There." → "Knight." → "Sir Knight." → "My knight." → "Mine." • Four oaths, each one a power and a binding, and a last oath you write yourself • Per-act tables of obstacles, court complications, and a Truth Beneath you roll at the start and are forbidden to read until you come home • Seven endings. Three warm, three dark, one that arrives whenever it arrives.
YOU'LL NEED one six-sided die, one twelve-sided die, a pencil, a printer or a tablet, and an evening.
FORMAT Instant download. US Letter and A4, printer-friendly, no special paper needed. Print the sheet once and reuse it in pencil across a whole campaign.
A NOTE ON CONTENT. Good Knight is a romance of devotion and restraint, and it runs at one intensity throughout: charged, sensual, and never explicit. Touch, breath, the pause that goes three seconds too long — the act itself is never on the page. Written for adult readers. The Queen is demanding and never cruel, but the game has real stakes: your knight can be wounded, dismissed, and killed, and some of the endings are meant to hurt.
Any body, any gender. Sir is a rank in this kingdom, not a gender, and the leash fits all necks.
