Our plan is radical – but by transforming how we live on a finite planet, nearly everyone gains, says Thomas Piketty and researchers from th
A habitable, equal and prosperous 21st century is materially possible. The carbon budget allows it and history offers precedents at comparable scales: universal suffrage, the universalisation of healthcare and education, the halving of working hours and the sharp compression of inequality over the 20th century. Technical impossibility is not what is standing in the way, but rather the absence of a shared vision of social progress, at once concrete and radical. What it will take instead is political choice, and the hard work of coalition-building behind it.
I was despairing last night but Raye was right - my joy comes in the morning! This is the future I want to live in. And it is possible.

It has been doing numbers EVERYWHERE and I only found out from this lovely person who commented on Ao3:
So yeah I guess if anyone wants to read an 8 year old Song of Achilles fanfic written in a fever dream after watching Into The Woods, be my guest
I shit you not, one of my friends got engaged and used this for their caption yesterday 😭😭😭
Should I tell her 🤭
NOOOOOO OH MY GOD LMAO
That is a new level of containment breach
Have we considered that Ianto's shrine may have been load bearing?
RTD admitting in a post about leaving Doctor Who that there was no script written for the now cancelled christmas special, admitting that was no next doctor cast, even admitting to acting like there would be a christmas special so that people thought there would be a future for Doctor Who... Fucking hell. Good fucking riddance. Can we get a showrunner who actually cares about this show and the people who are in it and its fans now?
Every once in a while I'm struck by the fact that the early seasons of SG-1 took place in the late 90's, and what tech was and wasn't available, all of which is to say I 100% believe Teal'c had a LiveJournal account and was moderator of at least one Star Wars fan forum.
The first time Teal'c says "All your base are belong to us" Jack dies a little inside
"But how would Jack know the reference" because Teal'c keeps sending him links. After the 3rd time Teal'c sends him the Hampster Dance he starts deleting the emails unopened

theres ALWAYS a relevant XKCD for everything huh
"Are you telling me that your university has practicing homosexuals on staff?"
Rincewind stammered. "I. I don't think so. Professor Macarona is so good at it he doesn't need to practice, I'm too nervous to ask, and Ponder doesn't have the time with all his other jobs. I suppose the more senior wizards might be practicing homosexuality." He thought back to some scenes in the Uncommon Room. "They certainly need the practice," he added.

Hello!
Howdy!
I’d like, uh, two normal rolls.
Sure thing!
And one with the… With the pumpkin seeds.
Which do you mean?
The one with the… With the seeds.
What are they called?
Uhm… A, uh, “crunchy pumpky.”
Sure thing. Would you like anything else?
Uhh… I’ll also take a, uh… A… A Nutella donut…?
Unfortunately, I don’t know at all what you mean…
A… One of those right there!
You really must tell me, what’s it called??
I… I’m… I’m a dumb piece of shit.
Sure thing! Anything else?
That one there?
You know what you need to do. [Here she switches from the formal, customer service voice to addressing him casually and familiarly.]
I… I’m a little greedy pig, oink oink?
Do it!
[grunts like a pig]
That comes to €13.50, please! Have a beautiful day!
Hello! I’d like an “I hate my father” and two “I have a small willi—” [The word that gets cut off is Pimmel, an un-sexy term for penis.]
You know how some married couples cheat on each other constantly and don't break up over it but they'll still insist they're strictly monogamous and they probably have some really bigoted views towards poly people too? Most western parents seem to be doing the same thing but with communal child-rearing. They're already actively outsourcing the majority of interactions with their children to teachers & devices but if you suggest anything that would make it so other people have a say in how their children are raised, they'll want you dead. But they'll still send their children to school expecting the teachers to do everything from potty training to teaching them how to do their taxes.
#It's because they don't see these people as fellow villagers but servants (especially teachers because taxes or what ever) #You know that old chestnut about how some people vote like they're temporarily embarrassed billionaires? #Some act like disposed or soon to be recognised royalty
cropped the tweet out because idgaf about how it feels to be a sensitive young man but i wanted to look at cute elephant

Acquired fancy looking clothes for my brother's wedding. I'll just need shoes now, maybe a hat if it's going to be 40°C and we wait outside the townshall under the scorching sun. Also idk maybe i already made a post about this recently but anyway it happened again: got pants from the men's section and my mom, after some hesitation, had to go "it's perfect on you"
my mom is extremely annoyed by gender non conformity so it never fails to make me laugh when it happens. I'll be mentioning i got something from the men's section and she'll be growing extremely distrustful and then inevitably when a few days later i show up wearing a piece of men's clothing she has to pause, then say "you're right. It suits you. You know how to style it". Aknowledge the power of lesbianism mother
it is my experience that people with dermal implants and eyeball tattoos and 34 visible piercings are the sweetest people you'll ever meet and will cry if they see a pigeon with a broken wing. it is also my experience that clean-cut people in polo shirts with perfect smiles will vote against your rights and say the most disgusting things imaginable once they think you're out of earshot.
