Dare I say that it's so upsetting the way media shows "nerd" characters, cuz I really love need people and Irl they're absolutely not the way they're portrayed in movies/shows/books/etc
And those pieces of media often make people have negative prejudices about real nerds
They're often being shown as some annoying arrogant "urm actually☝️🤓" type of people who have no sense of humor, aren't even slightly social, don't care about their appearance, trying to be some teacher's pet, think everyone around is stupid, know nothing about smth that's not their main interest, extremely misogynistic, don't have their own opinions and just blindly follow rules and etc
And ofc there are such people, I've probably even seen two or three, but this type isn't even that widespread, I knew and were friends with many of nerd people and all of them were really nice and regular people who just happened to also be smart, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about a particular subject and etc. But it didn't stop them from being open-minded, socially active, versatile, funny, creative, well-looking, charismatic and really interesting people who def will reach everything they want to in the future. I really loved them and loved talking to them
I seriously want media to portray them as normal people as they are and not just walking negative stereotype

It's really fucked up when you treat characters like people and people like characters.
No seriously it's REALLY fucked up when you treat characters as if they were real live people while you treat people like they're just characters.
I'm gonna go ahead and repeat: it is super, duper, extra scooper fucked up when you treat a character as if it were a living person while treating other human beings who are interacting with you like they are merely characters who can be written out of your personal story if you just find a remark mean enough.
You. You get it.
ETA wait why does this have 18k notes

I feel this!!! Also love how you muted the color along the way, I think it makes it that much more impactful!
This is the thing!
…Takes a while, sometimes.
Keep looking tho - they are out there and it is worth it when you find them.
Omg this is SUCH a grandma thing. She’s totally okay with them being queer, she’s just upset that she can’t feed them her world-famous ham.
“Honey, you’re so thin! Are you eating enough at home? I really don’t agree with this whole ‘vegetarian’ thing, I’m worried about my grandbaby not getting enough protein!!!”
I don't care you you fuck what clothes you wear your pronouns or what you so to your hair but WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU WON'T EAT MY FOOD
I might just be extremely in my thirties now but I simply cannot take any sort of fandom discourse anymore. I barely could before but I am at maximum capacity. just... just watch the thing and enjoy it or whatever, be nice to each other, isn't life hard enough
i think we should bring this back (with some amendments ofc) if we ever needed an "internet etiquette" for the younger generations, now is the moment to remind them. purity culture kills fandom
as well as the three laws of fandom:
Don't Like, Don't Read (DL;DR), Your Kink is not My Kink And That's OK (YKINMKATO) and Ship and Let Ship
That's so true tbh
Everyone reblog this IMMEDIATELY
