“Ah, well, I gave in very quickly,” Yvette chuckled. “Thanks, I just like a little cream. Straight black coffee is too bitter but too much cream and it’s like wow you want some coffee with your milk, y’know?”

“Nothing wrong with being old-fashioned,” PJ pointed out, “But leave you name and number anyway. Perhaps it’ll turn up and perhaps it won’t. No harm in doing so.”
“Yeah, old fashioned isn’t a bad thing.” Eve jotted down her information and looked at the man. “Anyway, sorry if you were in the middle of something and I, like, interrupted you for a watch of all emergencies.”

“What? Just because it’s not Christmas doesn’t mean I can’t eat candy canes. I love candy canes, they’re my favorite.”
“Candy canes are so great, but don’t they make you think of Christmas? I dunno, they just make me too excited for something that’s still so far off.”

“You’ve never been stood up before? Or has no one approached you and offered you shit when you’ve been stood up?” Esme asked the other, “Be right back.” She told the other, disappearing for a moment and reappearing with a slice of cake putting it down in front of the other. “So - are you gonna kick their ass?”
“I’ve been lucky enough that this is my first time being stood up. Or unlucky, since, if this whole date thing panned out tonight, it would’ve been, like, my fifth date ever, so,” Eve shrugged. She waited patiently for the girl to bring back the dessert and, once the cake was in front of her, she dug in. At the question, she shook her head. “Nah. I mean, he’s proved he’s not worth anymore of my time, hasn’t he? So probably not.” After another bite, she added, “This cake is great.”

Andy grinned us she spun around. “Cheers to the frickin weekend.” a laugh fell from her lips as she glanced at the other. “I think we should celebrate and go to the lake, a swim never hurt anyone.” she sounded ecstatic to even have a few hours of freedom before being brought back down to her studies. “What do you say?”
Eve beamed, matching the other girl’s energy. “That’s the best idea I’ve heard all day,” she said in agreement. “Plus, it’s been like a whole week or two since the last time I went swimming, which is just too long.”

“Do you know if they have this book?” Willow asked as she handed passed the piece of paper to the other. “Its a book for class so its safe to assume they’d have it right?” she ran a hand through her head as a sigh left her lips. “You think it would be easy to find then wouldn’t you.”
Eve looked over the paper and shook her head slowly, “Mm, not off the top of my head, but they probably do. I can help you look- have you checked any of those return carts? Maybe it just hasn’t been re-shelved yet.”

“That’s good,” Louis said, “Mind if I join you then? I think you deserve for someone to buy you a coffee after that.”
Eve gestured to the empty seat across from her, “Be my guest. And that’s nice of you, but you really don’t, I...” She paused mid-sentence, deciding against what she’d started to say as she was saying it. “Actually, thank you, I’d appreciate that,” she smiled.

“It’s just a scratch but thanks for the concern,” Cassia said as she saw the figure appear in the mirror behind her, “You should see the other guy.”
Eve pursed her lips. “You sure? I’m no doctor, but that definitely looks like more than a scratch.”

“Sorry,” PJ said out of courtesy, “You can leave a contact or something in case anyone finds it if you want. People do that sometimes,” He pointed out, “It’s possible we won’t find it and if you are going to buy a new watch, maybe there’s no point but if you want to.”
“It’s okay,” Eve responded reflexively. She nodded when he suggested she could leave her information just in case. “Yeah, I can leave my number,” she said, looking for something to write on. And with. “I mean, maybe I’ll just use my phone like everyone else from now on, but it was pretty nice having the time just on my wrist.”

“ That’s still debatable. Why would you need to know anyone else besides us, anyway ? ” he quipped, still angered despite having no face to direct it towards now. “ Well, whoever they are, you deserve and will find someone better. ” Unperturbed, he caught the attention of the nearest waitress, politely requesting a menu. “ I’ll just have to be your stand-in date for the night, then. ” With a childish grin, he held his hand out across the table. “ I’m Benjamin and I do not enjoy long walks on the beach. ”
“Shit you’re right. Well, there’s no time like the present to stop being so social, huh?” Yvette smiled at her friend. As he reassured her, she nodded, “Thanks, Ben.” When he extended his hand to her after, she couldn’t help the laugh that escaped. Shaking his hand, she cleared her throat, “How’d’ya do? It’s so very good to meet you, I’m Eve and wow, we already have somethin’ in common.” Their ridiculousness hit her and she laughed, letting go of his hand. “Hey, now that you’re here I can finally order food. I’m seriously so hungry, I put off ordering anything but drinks because... well, y’know.”

“Fucking coward,” Sloane said with a roll of her eyes. “Men are pigs.”
“They are, aren’t they?” Eve nodded subtly, shrugging her shoulders. “It’s whatever, though. His loss and all that.”

“Geez, what a dick!” Sydney exclaimed. “I can stay here then, if you want? You can pretend you were waiting for me so you don’t look like a loser. Not that you look like a loser, it’s just- should I go?”
Eve laughed, “No, by all means, please stay. The last thing I need is for people to think I’d been waiting for you just for you to walk off.” She didn’t really care what anyone thought, but she also didn’t necessarily want to be alone any longer.

“Ouch.” Esme commented, letting out a small whistle through her teeth. “Well you know what, you’re better off without them- clearly this was them making a first impression and it was a bad one.” She shrugged, “Do you want cake too- is cake something I should give you for being stood up?”
“Such a terrible first impression, my god,” Eve agreed. At the mention of cake, she perked up, “I wouldn’t actually know, but I’m definitely not gonna stop you from giving me cake if you feel so inclined.”

“I suppose but I don’t think it should happen with someone who looks like you,” Louis paused and grimaced a little in embarassment, “Sorry. That sounded like some kind of line. I didn’t mean it that way. The guy doesn’t know what he’s missing.”
Eve looked at him, her brows raised at his statement. She chuckled and nodded when he assured her that wasn’t how he meant it. “Line or not, thanks. My poor ego is doing better now. Plus, I mean how could he know, he didn’t even show up.” She exhaled in a huff and shook her head, “But that doesn’t matter now; I’m over it. Moving on.”

“See that wasn’t so bad, right?” AJ replied with a smirk as the girl returned, a frozen yogurt of her own in hand. “What flavor did you get?”
“It was the worst, actually, my back was just to you so you couldn’t see how much I was suffering,” Eve joked, taking a bite of her frozen yogurt. “It’s strawberry, which I’m kind of regretting. I just liked the pink, honestly...”

“There’s no shame in that,” Bekah assured the other when she admitted she hadn’t been on many dates. “As for the rite of passage thing… sort of? Never thought of it that way but we’ve all been there once or twice. Or four times.” She suddenly pulled back the empty chair across from her. “You mind if I join you? You can pretend you were meeting me all along,” she offered with a smile.
“You know what, you’re right,” Eve sat up straighter, some of her dignity restored. She made a face, “Four...” She trailed off, smiled, and nodded, gesturing to the chair, “By all means, go for it. Thanks for saving me the embarrassment of having to get up and leave,” she chuckled.

“You know, they’re missing out, because you’re totally hot as fuck right now,” Arden said. “I mean I’d date you right now if I could.”
“Just right now? Ouch, Arden, that’s a bruise on my ego,” Eve joked. “Thanks though, I needed to hear that. Or something like it,” she smiled. “You wanna ditch this place? It’s kinda bumming me out. Honestly I can’t believe I’ve just been waiting so long, I kinda feel like an idiot. And the waiter is definitely hardcore judging me.”
