I cannot stress the importance of paying attention in language classes in high school. Maybe the reason why your English teacher taught you about unreliable narrators is because a lot of the media around you is written by unreliable narrators posing as reliable. Maybe they gave you assignments on interpreting texts so you could draw your own conclusions about news articles. Some of you clearly thought English classes were useless in high school and now are unable to engage critically with media.
I’m a 4th year biochemistry student and the amount of STEM students I know with low language literacy is truly concerning. Why can you do calculus but not write a basic essay? How is your understanding of quantum mechanics better than your ability to make a coherent argument? How are you months away from an engineering degree without having read a book from start to finish since childhood? There is no field of study that spares you from literacy. No matter what you do, your competence in any field will only suffer by having low reading comprehension and critical thinking skills.
I can instantly tell when someone in one of my STEM classes didn’t pay attention in English class in high school because they can’t read scientific articles without feeding them through ChatGPT. You do know that if you’re a biochemistry major, you have to both write and read scientific articles, right? And that people will consider you completely incompetent if you can’t do these things?
As a scientist you NEED to be able to express your ideas in a clear, understandable manner. Your scientific papers will get dissected in every possible way for fallacies and you need to be able to defend them. You need to know introduction-evidence-conclusion structure. You need to know what fallacies are in the first place. Being a scientist who can’t read or write critically is like being an architect that can’t draw.
i looked up the source for this and its from an anime where a dude has to keep a constant boner for a month straight or he loses his house
is this the episode where he lost his house
I have not stopped thinking about this even once for the last 8 years

Counter point, those machines can make me a peach sprite.
guys did you know the tech in that nefangled machine revolutionized preemie healthcare
yeah the guy who invented them made incredibly precise infusion pumps (as opposed to gravity fed ivs) which not only meant they could give medications to teeny tiny babies safely, it's also used for insulin pumps and portable dialysis machines. the key element is that it's a peristaltic pump so the liquid stays in sterile tubing for safety
(unholy drink cloaca uses it to dispense precise amounts of flavored sugar syrup)
they wouldn't have censored us like this on the jeremy renner app
think again
There are dictators in dystopian fiction that are more subtle than this.
generative AI literally makes me feel like a boomer. people start talking about how it can be good to help you brainstorm ideas and i’m like oh you’re letting a computer do the hard work and thinking for you???
There are many difficult things that were replaced with technology, and it wasn't a bad thing. Washing machine replaces washing clothes by hand. Nothing wrong with that. Spinning wheel replaces drop spindle. Nothing wrong with that.
Generative AI replaces thinking. The ability to think for yourself will always be important. People that want to control and oppress you want to limit your ability to think for yourself as much as possible, but continuing to practice it allows you to resist them.
at the Washington DC pro-Palestine protest (NOT Hands Off) today they unraveled a list of all Palestinians murdered in the last year and a half. Brian Becker and Eugene Puryear spoke and tied absolutely everything we are going through right now back to the devastating effects that imperialism and capitalism have on all of us.
this is what should be happening. there needs to be a unifying message and a cause to rally behind that involves actually changing the way things exist today, not restoring this country back to the ways that lead us here to begin with. this is not purity testing. this is the type of anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist movement that is necessary in the current moment and anything else is a waste of precious time.
So JKR is anti asexual now to
Anti-asexual discourse has always been a canary in the mine when it comes to anti-LGBTQ stances. First it's trans people, than ace people, then gender non-conforming people, then bi people... it will just keep going until it's every queer person.
I looked up the tweet to confirm it was real (because even now it was shocking), and she doubles down (as she always does) in follow up tweets.
JK Rowling has targeted asexuals on International Asexuality Day, branding it: 'Happy International Fake Oppression Day'
It’s always felt like the way TERFs hate Asexuals is related to the fact that we kinda fuck with their narrative by existing.
They can’t spread transphobia on the back of gender essentialism that says people with penises are animals with no impulse control, if simultaneously it’s generally understood that some people (which includes some people with penises) just don’t have that sexual impulse.
If asexuality is real then a lot of Radfem rhetoric starts falling apart.

nonbinary cats >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<>>
I was curious about this, not because I was surprised the cat was "neither male nor female" but because I was surprised this is a "first". I mean, intersex cats exist. Any time an apparently male cat is tortie/calico, for example, that's an intersex animal, probably XXY.
Turns out, though, that this kitty is very rare - they have no external genitals, and vets can find no evidence of internal reproductive organs either. So yeah, fair enough, I've literally never heard of an animal being born like that! Isn't nature something?
