Bringing this back because I just watched someone who criticized organized religion get called a “cultural Christian” and “evangelical atheist” who “shouldn’t say religion when you mean Christianity” like 40 times in the notes … they were an Indian expressing concern about the rise of Hindu nationalism.

In the last three weeks I have seen two (2) films about the multiverse, featuring a threat to said multiverse revolving around the family dynamics and parent-child grief of a woman with undiagnosed depression. One was Doctor Strange into the Multiverse of Madness, and the other was Everything, Everywhere, All At Once.
I have not looked up the actual budgetary difference between the two because I care not for your ridiculous “facts” in the face of my own opinions, which are sacrosanct. But as Doctor Strange is Disney and EEAAO is an indie film I’m going to take a stab in the dark and say the former cost about eight times the latter. EEAAO had a much smaller cast that got cleverly reused. Far fewer sets, too, which probably helped.
I bring this up because, of the two, it was the one that looked about eight times more expensive. If I knew nothing about those films, I would assume it was the one with the budget. Literally everything about it was better without exception. The writing by multiple orders of magnitude, the acting, the directing, and yes, the special effects. That was honestly one of the most incredible films I’ve ever seen. There were moments when my husband was openly sobbing in the cinema. The most he managed for Doctor Strange was an “Oh, that’s poignant” once.
I don’t know where I’m going with this but it’s probably something something let artists do their thing and stop making everything CGI something something idk

We keep being told over and over again that Marvel cannot have queer characters because of the looming spectre of the Chinese Market, and I saw people (kind of rightly) lose their shit about America Chavez in Doctor Strange (although fuck me that was appalling America Chavez characterisation).
Everything, Everywhere, All At Once had two explicit and one implicit queer relationships. And the exaltation of one of them was central to the film’s denouement.

if any of you guys are interested in giffing or well just p1rating I'm compiling a list of free resources i use on my edits (video+programs+assets+non edit stuff) and like my general presence because piracy is always moral and right
- Although there are a few direct download sites I put here, I deal mostly with Torrenting, in which you WILL have to download a client in order to get your stuff;
- uTorrent/Bittorrent has not been deemed trustworthy since a few years ago for discreetly putting a Bitcoin miner in their software. Use clients such as qBittorrent for desktop and LibreTorrent or Flud for mobile (Android).
- Avoid The Pirate Bay, period. Not even recommended uploaders are safe anymore, and just because you got one or two safe downloads from there doesn't mean the next one won't be fucked up.
- Links with * on them mean that the site is direct download (DDL), meaning you don't need a torrent client.
- I live in a country which generally doesn't need VPNs for pirated downloads/streams, however I know Canada, the US and some parts of EU have very strict regulations and can get you a notice from your ISP before legal action is taken. Research reputable VPNs, it's worth getting one.
- Whatever you do, use uBlock.
The following list will be divided between editing software, editing assets, where to get TV shows/movies, etcetera, under the cut.
Editing (video and design):
- monkrus.ws - very complete site with tons of big name softwares such as Adobe; it's in Russian but it has a translate feature.
- 1337x - very complete torrent search engine for anything you could think of; games, software, video, series, music and much more.
- RARbg - same as above.
TV/Movies
- RARBG is quick and efficient and immediately uploads once the version of the show/movie is at least 720p in WEBDL quality, which means you won't find those shitty cinema cam recordings with someone coughing in the background. It keeps updating if there are better quality versions.
- Crazy4TV* has many shows in 720p+ quality and are hosted in diverse hosting sites so you can pick to your liking.
- Baixar Series Mega* - this is a brazilian site for TV shows and movies, in Portuguese or English. It isn't by any means in any "top 10 download sites" list you will find in big sites, but so far it has worked well for me (720p+ quality uploads) – no malware found, although it has some few annoying ads. Just be careful where you click, as in any site.
- TorrentGalaxy – not my first, second or even third option but it’s highly esteemed and recommended.
- Youtube – Yes, really. I’ve found that a lot of Asian, African and Middle Eastern producers upload full episodes and entire shows/movies there in great quality. Some of them come with hardcoded subtitles which can be a pain in the ass if you’re going to use the footage for editing, but that’s nothing;
- 4K Video Downloader – I use this app to download high quality from Youtube, limited by the amount of quality the video has. This means that if the video is only at 1080p or minus you will not be able to download it in, say, 4K. A lot of “youtube2download” websites tend to be (in my experience) hardcapped at 360p, but with this tool you will be assured the video will be the quality you want.
Editing assets*
Most of these are not actually piracy, just free stuff.
- DeviantArt – a lot of amateur editors upload assets there (textures, fonts, styles, actions, PNGs, and more), most of them are free – you only need to register in the site.
- Downloader.la – for downloading assets and generally stock pics without the invasive watermarl. The quality of the final product is sometimes questionable, but it can help you in a pinch.
- 1001fonts – not piracy but extremely helpful, nonetheless.
- DaFont – free fonts. Some of them are only for personal use.
- Need a PNG but those obnoxious fake transparent background bait sites are on the way? No problem:
Non-editing/misc
Videogames
- FitGirl Repacks – bookmark this one, there are a lot of shitty clone sites out there. Usually has every new release with DLCs and complementary stuff included, which means the download sizes can get big, but you won’t miss anything.
- Good Old Downloads* – usually has smaller/older games, very reliable.
- Both 1337x and RARBG, as mentioned before.
- This reddit game piracy megathread.
Streaming services
- Stremio. Let’s you mix all the shows/movies from your different paid streaming services. It contains an add-on to stream movies/shows for free. Available for desktop, android and iOS (although iOS doesn’t let you use the piracy addon, I think).
Books and research papers
- Sci-Hub for research papers and books. Actual lifesaver and a must if you’re studying. Seriously.
- zLibrary for all types of books.
Mobile
- Mobilism – kind of a “piracy” Google Store with cracked apps that cost money on the Google Store – sometimes it takes a while to get to the last version of certain apps since it’s user maintained, but it’s very reliable (are you a mobile editor? Cracked Premium PicsArts is in there, too). It also has adless and semi-premium Spotify (does not include the option to download songs for offline).
- Lucky Patcher – DIY cracks, hacks, and adblockers. Can be pretty hit or miss depending on if your phone is rooted/jailbroke or not. Also depends on the app, a lot of massive online services apps are hard or impossible to patch (Gachas, MMOs, cloud services).
- Youtube Vanced – THE youtube app. Doesn’t need rooting or jailbreaking – it’s the same interface as the normal Youtube app without the ads.
your friends & partners will actually love it if you enforce your boundaries b/c then they will never again need to guess if they're ever making you uncomfortable & don't know. healthy living tip :)
