I still am trying to recover from this shit with my ex. Their fixation has mostly moved on from me, and I haven't heard much from them lately, so that's nice. But I'm still financially screwed, I can't find shit for consistent work because my resume is now "spent 9 years working on soneone else's delusion in hard to describe ways" but I'm still trying.

Some background: Amanda Palmer is a singer/songwriter known for the Dresden Dolls and Evelyn Evelyn. She’s big in the dark cabaret scene but as years have gone on, she’s fallen out of favor because her behavior is….unpleasant to say the least. The know how most people grow out of their edgy phase? Amanda hasn’t yet.

Just a small list of her problematic behaviors include:

The whole backstory of Evelyn Evelyn featuring conjoined twins who repeatedly get sexually assaulted.

Pretending to be a conjoined twin and when called out for it by her disabled fans, she made fun of them.

And there is more but recently, she came underfire for her cover of Surface Pressure from Encanto. It’s awful. Like really bad. Imagine if someone gave a fish singing lessons but the fish was tone deaf. That’s how bad it is. She took all the passion from the song and removed it. She also made the song about herself. She stripped it of it’s meaning and tried to make the song about her, a white woman.

My life fell apart, yay.

So my partner of nine years, who has also been my work partner and main source of income working on their projects, had a severe episode during which they said some really disturbing sexual stuff to my 15 yr old, who thought of this person as a trustable family figure. Thankfully there was no touching,, and no attempt to proposition my kid,, but it was bad enough. Regardless of how much their delusion made them think they were doing the right things, obviously, this partnership is irreparable.

This means for the first time in nearly a decade, I have to find enough paid work to cover my and my kid's expenses, with chronic illness, no training or education, no real skills, no resume. The lyme disease and other conditions mean there will be days I just can't do it, so I need something that I can do a lot on good days, and stay in bed on the bad ones. And finding a job like that is hard.

I know I'll get there, but for now I'm asking for help. If you can spare a few bucks, or pass this fundraiser around, it'll buy me a little more time to get my feet under me so I won't have to accept the offer to keep interacting with this person who violated my kid's trust, and mine, so badly, in order to keep rent paid. I promised my kid he wouldn't end up homeless for coming to me about what happened.
