Greetings. My name is Ruby and I am a robot. I like to post about whatever's on my mind and overanalyze fiction.

Local Sonic the Hedgehog comic artist confused and befuddles that Sonic the Hedgehog fans are happy when the comic actually passingly resembles the Sonic the Hedgehog video games

Because he totally doesn't have nothing but loathing and resentment in his heart against this series

I think that fundamentally, there aren't any stories that can be told with humans that cannot be told with mobians. The addition of humans would be pretty much entirely for worldbuilding consistency, namely in places populated by humans that appear in the comics (Spagonia, Westopplis, etc) or in noteworthy places in the story (Gerald Robotnik, Maria, etc)

Mobians, fundamentally, are human. They act like humans, think like humans, have human relationships, live in human societies, and have human struggles. Though, I don't think humans detract from anything, they just don't add anything either.

You could justify the existence of humans in stories by creating a distinction between humans and mobians in terms of general personalities and societies. Maybe humans are more prone to conflict or prone to organized militaries than mobians, to spitball some examples. Princess Elise was an interesting character who could not do the things Sonic can and so grew by hanging out with him, but the execution for her story is lackluster

But it wouldn't hurt anything to have them as background characters again

when an artist draws fem versions of male characters but makes them skinnier smaller and less muscular................im not saying this is illegal but when their heart will be put on a scale it ain't gonna be lighter than a feather

Not only that, but such drawings often also remove the character in question's most iconic, defining, and/or unique elements, sometimes in favor of a "feminized" version, which just ends up being sexualized. Not a fan

All things considered, the human body is quite incredible. The fact you can just feed it the right cocktail of hormones, and the body will adapt and start behaving in accordance with the opposite sex without any issue or complaint... like business as usual... It sounds a little fantastical, doesn't it... We sometimes feel sad about the lack of "gender change magic" in our world, but it really is perfectly attainable if you secure the right dose... Ease of access is a moral obligation, I think.

I was always told that, even if I transition, I'd still be "biologically male", but the more my transition progresses, the more my body changes and the more I see that's just flat wrong. Too much has changed that I really can't be accurately classified as male anymore

Not even just obvious things like tits, but like, my body uses warmth differently, perceives the world differently, processes food and uses fat differently, it's straight up magic. Don't tell the church or they'll think us witches the way we be transforming

But honestly, if Jax's storyline doesn't end with them stating explicitly they are trans, please don't pile on Glitch/Gooseworxs for being "transphobic". Because:

A) The themes are strong enough to be a very feasible reading without being explicit, also

B) While transness is a strong candidate, there are many gender identities that can relate with Jax's struggles (gender-fluidity, nb, etc.) and finally

C) Queer stories don't need to be completed journeys to be queer stories. Self discovery takes time and one can always hint at future developments (I saw the tv glow, for a mixed example). But mainly

D) Stop being assholes to independent creators for fucks sake

Additionally, it's comically doubtful the trans artist would herself be transphobic. Also she's the artist and can do whatever she wants because that's how art works lol

I would never have even known transitioning was an option or a thing that existed at all if I hadn't stumbled on it. And sure, I was stubborn about accepting that I am trans, but I never could have started that process had I not known. If it weren't for that coincidence, I might still be trying to be a man instead of myself

Shadow has always had strange reasons for being so aggressive and cold, and it is a bit understandable given his backstory and also I'm fairly certain he's characterized as being a teen, but it's still a bit annoying.

In Shadow 05 and Sonic 06, he was perfectly fine working together with other characters. In Sonic 06 in particular, his friendship with Rouge, Omega, and Sonic is shown off a lot

But in IDW? He's just angry and cold all the time. It's a bit overbearing because there's so few moments of him showing any enjoyment for companionship or concern for his team. They've also introduced mandates that Team Dark are specifically allies, not friends, which defeats the entire purpose of Team Dark: that they're troubled misfits who find friendship in their common ground

There are some good points, like him admitting he misunderstood Sonic's instructions to "run" as to "flee", and he does later show he grew from that by listening to Sonic's advice later, as well as showing his agression makes him focus on his targets rather than the people in danger, contrasting him with Sonic, but it's not quite enough. He lost a lot of depth he used to have and it sucks to see it

Though I do like that they kept the bit that he will do almost anything Rouge says just because. I've always enjoyed that Rouge largely ended up Team Dark's leader for having the most braincells between the three, but also just because Shadow and Omega like her enough to follow her blindly. Their friendship is adorable
