Ed and Stede faking their own deaths over and over again as a bit. Of course the other one is always in on it so sometimes Stede shows up to Ed's "funeral" to give a teary-eyed speech that lasts forty minutes and Ed shows up at Stede's "funeral" in a veil and the most flamboyant funeral outfit anyone has ever seen and sings an improvised song. And of course sometimes Ed's secret twin brother who looks and sounds just like Ed except he has an eyepatch shows up to Ed's "funeral" and makes a whole speech about how he's going to avenge his brother's death.

i'll admit that i was a little salty when i first started reading the books and found out that Rand, Mat, and Perrin are all ta'veren while the women (specifically Egwene) are left out. and i do think there was a bit of misogyny going into that decision, but i retract my judgment because Egwene being elected wizard pope at 18 and becoming the world's greatest girlboss despite everything being set against her without having any special Narrative Bending Power is so much more impressive.
