Tried to run a dx12 game through Wine and despite having vkd3d running well in other launchers and on Steam, the game insisted that my system didn't support Directx12.

Turns out that under my system winecfg, I had the default OS set to Windows XP. Set that to Windows 11 and the game suddenly runs.

It's always the small things.

Today on PC problems that I could've solved if I weren't bloody stupid.

For about half a year, I've been having issues with artifacting that was exclusive to using Plasma on Wayland at above 60Hz. Windows, Gnome Wayland, X11, all worked fine on 144Hz. Just not Plasma Wayland. White blocky stripes appearing and disappearing in a seemingly random order every second.

All a-fucking-long,

I had set the colour accuracy to "Prefer colour accuracy" that set the color resolution to 16 bits. My monitor can only cope with 10 bits, and I suppose my GPU outputs as well. Setting that to "prefer efficiency" and limiting colour resolution to 10 bits fixed it.
