people have lost sight of what "reclaiming" means I fear. calling someone else a slur in a way that translates to "I think you're stupid/a bad person/whatever" is not reclaiming that slur. using a term in the same way it has been historically used (i.e. to put people down, to reify a particular power dynamic, etc) is not "reclaiming". I don't care if you're part of the same group. you're just being an asshole

literally textbook gatekeeping, if someone is actively watching horror movies that they like then they still in fact like horror even if it isnt jumpscary or gorey enough to fit your superior standards

if theyre watching it then obviously it doednt make them uncomfortable or scared and they still enjoy it idk what to tell you. just watched woman in black last night and it didnt make me uncomfortable or scared but i still thought it was alright! same with a lot of the movies i recently watched

there’s lots of reasons why a person might still enjoy horror. maybe because the events are less predictable than other genres where things tend to work out predictably, because they explore certain topics which are taboo but don’t make them uncomfortable personally, or because they like the deeper messaging a lot of them have. Who cares!!
